Nearly two years after this was produced, I finally got the nerve to watch it. It was too raw in the moment. Now, I can quietly weep, and appreciate John's deeply moving music in Brandi's amazing voice. I don't know how she got through it that day. But I'm glad she did. Blessed Be.

I was 19 years old when this beautiful song was released. The lyrics helped me to learn and practice empathy and compassion for those "old folks" I would encounter in my younger days. It was also one of the first songs I taught myself on my guitar. And now at 70 years old, I listen to Brandi's beautiful rendition and I realize that I have become that old man John was singing about. I'm sitting at my kitchen table, looking out my back window and thinking about the circles that turn in our lives. I loved John Prine and cried for several days when he passed. The world was a better place with John Prine in it but we will always have his words and we will always be able to feel his heart.

I am a 65-year old woman listening once again to this song. Over the years, since my youth, John taught us compassion for ourselves as we grow older. I haven’t gotten COVID yet but I have stayed home more except for visiting my senior neighbors who are lonely or in need of assistance. John taught me to say “Hello in there” on a regular basis to my senior neighbors. One is blind. One just had a stroke. I have auto-immune diseases. I sure miss seeing my son come to visit. Talked to him today by Facetime. It was his 34th birthday.💗

Brandi Carlile is as much underappreciated as John Prine was. I've been listening to John since the late 70's & Brandi since maybe 2008 when I first heard The Story and I had to stop and find out who she was! I'm always surprised that anytime I mention either of them anywhere, people don't seem to know their work. I was stunned to hear about John's death to Coronavirus. Brandy's is a moving tribute to him. Looking forward to seeing him one day in Paradise!

Michael Myers John was not under appreciated, he was under exposed. He was not swept up by the machine of capitalism and as a result, only those of us who search the world, turn rocks over, see what’s not in plain sight were blessed to hear his wise words and to witness his beautiful light, beaming boldly.

I was one of those, who heard of him through his death. I missed many great musicians though. Was pretty sheltered musically growing up. Am a late bloomer, to developing my appreciation for music that wasn’t an act of extended rebellion, against my upbringing 😬 John Prine is incredible. The seeming simplicity, but then you catch the depth, nuance, keen observation of the human condition...and at times, hilarity! He knew how to use space too, wasn’t afraid of it. It’s those pauses, that punctuate the message. And he had that down. So happy to have heard of him in my lifetime. What a gift.

Great under-appreciated talent like John Prine and Steve Goodman have left a legacy of humor and emotion that will last several lifetimes. I've been listening to "Hello In There" for many years. I started listening not long after it was written. And now it's about me.

I've been hearing John Prine songs since I was a kid because my dad is a fan. I love his music. Stephen Colbert's words about John Prine and the musicians he brought on to cover his songs in tribute were just beautiful. Thank you John Prine for giving us so much beautiful music and thank you, Stephen Colbert, for giving John Prine the send-off he deserved.

Been listening to John Prine for 17 years now. A friend introduced me to his music, then he passed away. I hear John Prine & it reminds me of my friend. I expose as many people as can to his music. He stirs my soul. My heart is broken now that he is gone. Like losing an old friend again. He will forever be on my playlist. RIP Alex Thankyou for the introduction. RIP John Prine. Thanks for making the world a better place through your music. 💖 "When I get to Heaven" is my all time favorite. If you haven't heard it, what are you waiting for? Go discover one of the best story tellers ever to hit the music scene. 💖

It really hurts that we've lost John Prine. I too, am glad that his wonderful catalog of songs is being heard for the first time by a lot of people curious about John. Songs that deserved to be remembered. Hearing his songs make me cry right now but I will get used to John being gone and I will listen with joy again. Thank you John Prine!

Perfection. After I heard this for the first time I never, ever missed waving to any old person sitting on a porch, waiting on a sidewalk, standing alone somewhere and have continued that-2023-and will as long as I'm alive and can see and move my arm, hand and heart. John Prine moves hearts. Beautiful from Stephen and Brandi. Kudos to Evie-and then to Stephen for realizing Prine could help him marry the woman of his dreams. "Drop some wisdom on us"-yeah, Brandi, excellent truth telling. Thank you all. I still remember seeing him on the Horseshoe outside at USC in Cola, SC, ; went with a group of friends from our house and got separated-but my baby girl was just a few months old so we stayed under a large oak tree on a quilt and I nursed her as we listened to John Price. I could see him some from the vantage point on the small rise, away from the crowd. Perfection personified. Thank you so very much to all of you- and to the gift of John, I will always be more than grateful-which not something that occurs often--in this big old goofy world. Love and Light, Terri -Jenna Rose's Momma

I grew up listening to John Prine and hes what we listened to on Road Trips. This was devistating. When John died, it felt like a close family memeber died. I loved "as a little girl" Angel from Montgomery, becy dad was an elevator and escalator repairman down town Chicago and he worked for the company ' Montgomery' so i legit thought he was referring to me Dads company. Lol How naive are kids. Now that im older this has a WHOLE DIFFRENT meaning for me. Im not into covers but this was an amazing cover. You did this song justice. If i could sing, this is how id sing it. I miss my Dad everyday. We do t talk anymore and he is still alive but our close relationship live for me through ths whole album.

At this viewing, 4/10/2020, (going on 1pm EST), 78 people thought it necessary to give this a thumbs down - I think they should have to explain themselves in order to do that. Ultimately, I feel sorry for them that their lives are so empty and rotten inside that they felt it was something that they needed to do. Peace be your journey. Thank you, Steven Colbert. Thank you Brandi Carlile. And, most of all, thank you John Prine for a life well lived that brought us some of the greatest songs to represent America as I have ever known. I hope, as you float down that Green River, that Paradise is your destination.
