Heston Kjerstad was nailed in the head by a pitch and Brandon Hyde reacted to the situation. Hear from the manager following an intense Game 1. More: www.masn.me/
Hyde yelled at Holmes ,which caused the Yankee dugout to yell at Hyde. I'm sure Holmes didn't do it intentionally. It's over reaction on both sides, plain and simple. Heston seemed ok, all things considered , but you never know with the head.
Regardless of intention, to miss THAT bad and hit someone in the head and potentially cause injury, you can GUARANTEE someone one the other team is going to either suggest that you do a little better job at controlling the zone or flat out tell you you're an awful pitcher. If you're so soft that you can't take that off the chin and accept that in the moment you in fact suck and nearly killed someone because of it, you don't deserve to be a professional.
@@michaelrousseau8851 its raining and humid. The yankees have stunk the last month theyre trying to win and it wasn't intentional clearly. Grow up my man.
@@sheldonf Bro, you had me worried so I put my comment through a free grammar checker off google and other than accidently misspelling "on" with "one" and using "bad" instead of "badly", the entire thing is perfectly coherent English. Learn to read
@@brandonatwater5942 You must have missed the first few words of my comment where I said "Regardless of intention". I said nothing about it being intentional. What I said was, if your command is that poor (REGARDLESS OF WEATHER) you can expect someone from the other team to say something, especially when you nearly seriously injure someone If you're that soft and can't take the off the chin, that says a lot about your professionalism as a player, especially when you could have killed somebody.
@@abad-enoughdude._.3919watch the replay dum dum. His follow through on a fastball was directly at the batter. Showed zero reaction/flinching on a straight "missed" pitch. Sorry bud, your team is dirty.
@@skinsman82000 So you have your doctorate in kinesiology now? How long have you been watching baseball? There's no way he wanted to hit him with two strikes on him in the ninth in a close game. Way to tell me you're a casual without telling me you're a casual.
Nonsense! When a mgr. (Hyde) rebuffs the opposing pitcher (Holmes) from checking on a player that he just hit and the mgr. starts talking crap, Yankees players and coaches are going to let him know about it. Here's what Holmes had to say after the game: “I was trying to tell Heston (Kjerstad) that I wasn’t trying to do it (hit him) and I hope he’s alright and Hyde was mouthing some stuff and some people (Yankees players/coaches) didn’t like that and things got heated.”
@@metalgod4045 he said Pitcher didn’t say anything and he is pointing to the Dugout not mound. If we are guessing my money is on my big mouth compatriot Douggy.
To imply that the Yanks did it on purpose like Hyde did is really dumb. If someone accused me of something heinous that I did by accident, I wouldn't be very happy.
The Yankees lead the league in HB so far this year by a wide margin. They need to be punished by the league (fines, suspensions) because they are clearly head hunting, especially when they play the Orioles. What you going to do about it Orioles!!??
The Umpires should have stopped the game when the rain started to come down heavy. I feel bad for Clay Holmes, he clearly lost the grip of the ball due to the wetness. That batter could have been seriously hurt.
Picture this. You’re Brandon Hyde, manager of the greatest team in baseball. On a losing game, you see one of your hottest prospects get an accidental 97 mph heater directly to the helmet, so you and the medics obviously go and see him immediately. But as you do that, out of the corner of your eye you can see some guys in the Yankees dugout almost mocking the situation as one of your top dogs lies face down and possibly concussed. Who among us wouldn’t , at minimum, call out those jerks for being so disrespectful of what was going on like Hyde did?
Hmm I wonder how come there’s no video or anyone even saying that there were players mocking the situation, as a matter of fact homes was walking up to check on him. Clearly just a manager trying to get a badly slumping team fired up. Nice try
@@Ricoliciousswas Holmes in the dugout? Is this not the third game in a row they have “retaliated” for Judge getting hit? Have they not hit 11 Orioles already this season? But no of course the Yankees could never be in the wrong. Give me a break.
I don't think the batter was hit on purpose but I think Hyde was upset because if you're going to throw in that location you need to have control. Missing a foot outside or even low and in is different than missing up and in. He had a right to be upset even if not intentional.
Holmes showed control against the coach giving him looks, we want to see more of that at the plate. No one wants to see a player get injured this way of both sides and between pitchers and hitters. Hope he recovers quickly. It goes both ways, pitchers get hit too.
Why are Yankee fans coming to the MASN Orioles page to back up a guy who threw a ball at our guy's head? It really doesn't matter if it was intentional or not. I don't think it was intentional either. If you want to be a classy Yankee fan, come to the page and wish our player, Heston Kerstad, a speedy recovery. Is that too much to ask? Maybe so...
I'm a Yankees fan. I came to see this video because Boone refused to talk about what happened. It was scary AF. If one of our guys got hit like that I'd be pissed too. I'm glad the kid will be ok. No baseball fan let alone anyone with any sense of humanity wants to see a player get hit like that. I don't think it was intentional. I do think the rain had something to do with it.
This video was on my feed and there weren't any from NY so I watched it. I hope I speak for most NYY fans when I say it clearly wasn't intentional and we never want to see a player get hit like that. It was a save situation and Clay isn't like that. But I'd be upset if I was an O's fan too. Hope he makes a quick recovery.
Orioles fan and its a long season, but if they don't get back on track they'll be in 3rd place behind Boston. Seems like they've been too focused on who's going to go to the All Star game than hitting the baseball!
it depend if it looks intentionnal - it wasnt - it was raining and the ball slip in his hands - the league is the one to blame - we are in 2024 and some stadium still doesnt have a roof - that would prevent event like this and double header all the time cause of rains
This guy needs to get out as a manager as he is not a MANAGER. He is a fool. The Orioles are getting behind fast as he is so passive, doesn't snap the whip, and doesn't care about losing. Right now losing against the Padres because of lack of discipline.
Go ask Dickie Thon what bean balls can do to a career. The problem with this is that the 'victim' (batter) is always someone not directly involved in the 'assaults'. Just collateral damage in MLB. Any HBP 'above the letters' should get the pitcher & skipper tossed, NQA. TAMU Women's Softball pitcher hit the same UT batter (a legit boss) 4 times in one game in the WCWS. 'Wonder where they got that idea? A&M still lost. 🤘😊
When are people going to notice two big differences this year, #1 what's with all the errors on defense,i probably am wrong but i feel like they are already close to the amount last year,, anybody wanna goggle that? 🎉lol 2nd, they are not winning the close games, period,i for one qm not worried, they have had 3 count that "3" days off on almost a month and a half, two of those were travel days, lets win the next two get into the all-star break and regroup, i think this is the last time they play n.y , everybody needs to chill lol
As a Yankees fan, I hope that Kjerstad is okay after that hit by pitch. It's never good to see that, and I'm sure it wasn't intentional from Holmes. I understand why Hyde reacted the way he did. No matter what, this will be a tough series for both teams, but it was unfortunate that the game ended like that. I'm hoping that he recovers from this quickly.
@thomasredmond9475 to be realistic, with it raining, it would make gripping the ball more difficult. I'd say that it's quite challenging, given that weather, to be perfect from 60 ft away and throw in an area that's only 17" wide.
@thomasredmond9475 "biggest bullies," yet Holmes was trying the check on Kjerstad. No matter, I was simply giving my best wishes to Kjerstad for a speedy recovery. It seems like you're more concerned with bashing the opposing team.
So Kremer gives up a homerun to soto a month ago and stares kremer down.....why is mountcastle over at first base chuckling and giggling with soto lastnight when soto lines a base hit in the first inning....I would rather see a competitive edge like o hearn has than sucking up to those dam Yankees
How was it clearly unintentional? Did you miss how many Os have been hit by Yanks pitchers in both previous series? I don't know if it was intentional or not but you can't say it clearly wasn't especially because it wasn't even close to the strike zone and direct to the head.
@@GKHTS because nobody intentionally hits in the head. That’s a ridiculous statement to make. Whenever someone is hit on purpose it’s usually near the waste where it hurts less. Always been that way so you must not know baseball. You can clearly see Holmes try to apologize before the childish manager let his emotions get the best of him. Just hope Heston is okay
Love Brandon standing up for his players. I really don't think Holmes hit Heston on purpose but he didn't seem very apologetic either. And then the chirping Yankees dugout is ridiculous after their guy hit our guy in the head. Just hope Heston is OK.
wow-you sure do make a lot of assumptions here don't you Holmes does not throw at players. He walked towards the plate to check on the player but was interrupted. Yankees were chirping because Hyde directed a curse word at Holmes out in the open. So of course the Yankees are going to react to that because it was not intentional. Brandon, a wanna-be tough guy posing as a manager LOL!
@@javtimestwothird game in a row they have “retaliated” for Judge getting hit. 11th oriole to get hit by them this season. A guy just got hit in the head. Then they want to chirp from the dugout because the Orioles are over this bs? Give me a break classic Yankees fan always playing the victim. Let’s see the Orioles start targeting guys for “retaliation” a few games in a row and pop someone in the head. Then we can see how quick you flip flop like a hypocrite.
Lets start with I am a yankee fan, hope Kjerstad is ok. In no way was this intentional, holmes is not a pitcher that intentionally hits guys let alone on the head. It was raining the ball slipped it happens. Also, why would he put another man on to load the bases with a 3 run lead and 1 out
@@Badtown1988escalating things like hitting guys 3 games in a row? Hitting 11 batters already this season? Their dugout was chirping after they HIT A GUY IN THE HEAD! my god get a clue.
This dude started everything yelling and cussing at Clay Holmes. Holmes did not mean to hit the dude. It obvious that it wasn’t intentional. This guy 🤦🏼♂️
Holmes could’ve apologized and shown a little concern like any somewhat decent player would. Not like you scumbag Yankee fans would know what a good manager is like lol
Dude…these guys are getting paid millions to put the ball in a small strike zone…I can see a pitch up and in on the hands or chest but getting beaned right in the ear-hole is pretty suspect. Intentional or not, Hyde had every right to react the way he did. Imagine having a coach that had zero reaction to one of his guys taking a head shot against a divisional rival? You gotta take up for your squad…regardless of if it was intentional or not. And in the press conference he said wasn’t pissed at Holmes…he got chirped at by the Yanks dugout while checking on Kjerstad, which would piss me the f*** off too
This is the third game in a row the Yankees have “retaliated” for Judge getting hit. They have hit 11 orioles in total this year. A player got hit in the head and their dugout is chirping. But yeah “this dude” started everything. Get a clue.
@@twasfunkyCome on! It was all theater. It was not intentional. A manager trying to get his team fired up. Anytime a player gets hit can be a disaster. Someone getting hurt in 30 player pile up is dangerous as well.
