Brandon McPhee Christmas Release 2023 “Merry Christmas Elvis',
this song was co written by Brandon and James McQueen who lives in Memphis. It was released on download/streaming on the 10th of November and climbed to no.17 in the iTunes Country Music Charts. Brandon being the only chart entry in the top 30 from outside the USA in the company of Taylor Swift, Luke Combs. Chris Stapleton etc. Great company to be amongst. Below is the history of the song -
“Merry Christmas Elvis, from all your fans tonight”
Fans of the King of Rock and Roll regard Graceland mansion as a special place
where the surroundings reflect the personality and, for some, of their idol - especially so at Christmas, with all the light and decoration, A time when Elvis Presley loved to be at home. It is easy to sense
his presence, but is it just one’s imagination?
“Elvis is immortal.” Perhaps most people would interpret this to mean his
music is timeless, his recorded performances enduring and still relevant to
audiences of every age. But for a significant number of fans, especially but not
exclusively those who adored him during his lifetime, news of his passing was
too painful. Life without the legend unimaginable. Little wonder that people clung to any suggestion that their hero was still alive, whether now living on a
remote tropical island or working in the local burger bar!
Elvis died on August 16th 1977, twenty-three years before the millenium. Move
on a further twenty-three years (he was superstitious about numbers) to a
chance online meeting of two keen fans from very different backgrounds. At
home in USA James T. McQueen (Mac) aged 90 and always a huge fan had been
on duty as an electronics technician when the ambulance (badged Unit No 6)
swept in the Memphis Baptist Hospital at alarming speed and a sense of
heightened security. The stretchered patients face was covered up but later s
weeping nurse told him it was Elvis and he had died. His online contact was Scottish musician, vocalist and songwriter and recording
artist Brandon McPhee. Elvis had been gone almost twenty years before
Brandon was born, but even as a young boy his keen musical ear drew him to
the sound of “The King.” Their shared enthusiasm spanning a whole generation led by them to pen this song together. Recorded by Brandon this track is also transatlantic collaboration between studios in Scotland and Nashville. Elvis lives
on!
