"Le Tour" by Brandon Ridenour
Commissioned by and dedicated to Brandon's first trumpet teacher, Gregg Good (and his students), "Le Tour" translates to "The Ride". The melody was first written in Aix-en-Provence, France while Brandon was playing with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra. It depicts a swirling, often circular, sometimes dizzying Carnivalesque ride - immersed within a bustling French scene.

The circular ride of students that continually cycle through this lovely town give it its vibrant playfulness. You can see it in Ridenour’s ‘Le Tour’.

Circular like a wheel, like a bicycle wheel? At first I thought of Le Tour de France but then I realized this is much more light-hearted and not at all like a 21 day race that is often described as “grueling”. This is more like a leisurely sunny afternoon ride full of laughs and maybe a picnic under a tree with wine and cheese. Loved it!
