You're thinking of the Uncanny Valley, mate. It's a category of things that cause a certain psychological response, a feeling of being creeped out that comes from seeing something that looks so familiar, so close to human, but there is something just off enough about it that your brain doesn't know whether or not to interpret it as different than human and therefore, as a potential threat. The word uncanny is just used to describe something that has a resemblance to something else that is so close, you almost can't tell a difference from whatever that thing looks like. Like someone saying a child has an uncanny resemblance to their parent, for instance. It generally means they look almost exactly alike. You heard the word, you tried to get meaning from the context, but you didn't quite get it right, friendo. Happens to me too, all the time.
