Brandon goes over a clone of how he setup his issued MK-18s. Additionally, Brandon discuses if the 50 year old MK-18 is still a viable carbine to train with or not.
I shoot consistent Sub MOA with my Daniel Defense DD5 V5 with a milspec trigger. You guys allow these guntubers make you feel inadequate with all but the most high end gear. Take your struggle pony and train.
I'd be really interested to hear some of Brandon's stories from his time in MARSOC. I love stuff like that. Might be cool to do like a combo vid with the kit he used and a few cool stories from deployments. Even if he didn't see a ton of action, stories from time in the military are always super cool to hear
I probably won't share any combat related experiences publicly. I don't want my relevancy to be based around what I used to do, I'd rather it be in my competency in what I do now.
@@brandon.wombat I can understand that. I don’t think anyone who actually shoots would think you’re only as good as you are now because you were in MARSOC back in the day though. We know if you’re not constantly training and learning new things, you get pretty rusty pretty quickly. I can definitely understand not wanting to share certain things. But I’d bet there’s a lot of us who’d love to hear anything you are comfortable sharing.
@@brandon.wombatRespect. Just can’t understand why a former MARSOC guy would ever align himself with a total poser like Lucas. I guess money talks though. Far more enjoyable video than anything the wannabe puts out, so thanks.
Getting issued the PEQ-16 with that silly built in light while I was an 0311 (09-13) felt so stupid of the Marine Corps. I understand their thinking but the light on that thing sucked ass.
Normally I would say "just move!" but as a family man I'm well aware how difficult that would be. My advice to you is figure out legal ways to get something comparable, and remember to have fun!
@@MrGible I've been considering picking up a set of high quality Airsoft guns to at least get used to handling and dry firing a gun (sort of like that T-Rex Arms video I'm sure everyone has seen). It won't be the exact same, obviously, but maybe it'll come in handy at some point.
@@therealad1238 it's not 1:1, but at least you get fundamentals down, maybe laws change or there's a club you can attend. It may be difficult but if there's a will there's a way!
I always wanted a mk18 and finally bought one for the gram(historically) but quickly realized why they’ve been used so much and it’s been main rifle the last year+ Mines a dd factory SBR and it’s gassed perfectly with h3 and a sandman s. Plus side is I get constant under 3/4 moa with 77gn imi
Love this build! I always get shit because I used a aero lower to build my mk18 clone but I do have a daniel defense upper on it, as long as it looks nice and it’s a 10.3 barrel u got ur self a mk18 period.
If you are using a basic trigger guard. Use sugru to help not only mitigate burn on your finger, but it will also mold to your grip and feel more comfortable.
I placed a larger Order yesterday on Buds. Noticed today that they cancelled my order yesterday the same day I placed it. I called them and spoke with their supervisor asking why they cancelled my order. The guy said they felt uncomfortable with my order so it was cancelled. It didn't make any sense to me in the slightest. I asked if it was because the order total was $3,600? He said no its not the price or what you ordered or you he said that the order made them feel uncomfortable. All I ordered was a small amount of ammo, some magazines for my AK, 10/22 and AR15, along with some magpul grips and accessories. That was my first order with buds. Definitely will be the last. The Supervisor said on the phone that I am blocked from placing orders with them. Still not giving me a reason why. I never had this issue with any other company before. I have been buying guns since i was old enough never had an issue with anything. Buds has gone Communist I'm afraid. I still didn't get my refund yet. This is crazy. Buds is Crazy. The worse people/company I've ever stumbled across. Screw Buds they are very rude and commy.
Man I’ve been wanting to build a Mod0 for a while. I’m usually always working on at least one or two builds but the one I’m working on right now is taking forever for some reason. I do have a stripped Colt upper and Colt lower just sitting on a shelf so maybe I should just start it. Couldn’t really decide if I wanted a Mod 0, block 1 m4 full on GWOT, or a block II Mk18. I finished a URGI clone and a block II m4a1 clone last autumn and loved building them so much. Never really planned on getting into cloning it just kinda happened accidentally
I don't like the attachment point of the sling. But the Ambi bolt release is something I use. Also use the Phaze 5 bolt release on my Watchman, and use a We the people sling from the guys from Vagas.
I run a m4a1 and a 10.3 v7p. Love the DD uppers. Rock solid pieces, even tho I love my ris2 more, the v70 handguard isn't terrible, Nice lightweight even with a full size can
Ok at least one current guy that still rocks the mk18 social media just last year was flooded with people wanting to cline the mk18 now EVERYONE is SPR,GPR,RECCE,SEALRECCE,NSW RECCE, LONG RANGE RIFLE,RECCE IS LIFE THE MK18 IS DEAD and im.over here still carrying my dd mk18 with my 14.5 block ii upper in my bag
Where did you get the muzzle device compatible with that can? I have been looking for KA muzzle devices compatible with something I lost in a motorboating accident...
I’m pretty sure that particular can is compatible with A2 pattern MDs. Like anything that has the same notches as an A2 birdcage. I’m not 100% sure if it’s that one or a different KAC can - it’s been a while since I’ve looked into them since I finally decided they’d just be impossible to find.
@@nukkohuits17 really? It definitely looked like the a2 mount in the vid. And I just looked it up and it seems that it is A2 compatible. Every photo of it is pictured with an A2. The first one I pulled up was Pew Science, which is pretty reliable. But I could also be missing something - like I said, it’s been a while since I’ve seriously looked at KAC cans.
Seems like it would be difficult to use your pressure switch while you’re holding the rifle left handed. Did you have a specific technique for that, or did you even have to worry about it if most of your engagements were at 800m+?
Why light on the right instead of left with a push button and pressure pad? I never understood why so many people prefer it in the right but I’m curious
People shoot at the light source. If you are a right handed shooter and it's on the right hand side of the rifle, lessens your chance of getting hit. Any little bit like that would be helpful
The chances of a modern optic actually failing are so incredibly low that you’ll almost certainly never need them. Especially if you’re just shooting on the range and training. The only scenarios I think they’d actually be “necessary” are if you’re a cop or a soldier / marine. I have them on a couple of my rifles but they’re mainly there for looks and fun. I do a little more shooting than the average person and I’ve literally never once had an optic fail on me. I’d rather mount my magnifier a couple slots further back than have something on there that I’m never gonna use
