Yea Your right but im tired of people coming down on her when she paved the way one of the vets of the R&B game today. I like beyonce as well Brandy is my favorite but beyonce is a wonderful performer and an outstanding singer..the two have separate styles but I prefer Brandy. I am going to say this...Brandy is one of the only artist that works for what she has and can prove it. This performance she was 19 years old and she was singing live. Come on Brandy has the voice, the skill in the voice, the creativity and the humbleness of a true R&B artist. She contributes alot to all of these R&B artist. You listen to her then them you will a familiar style and sound. Brandy has the passion that BEYONCE doesnt have. all of the above is why BRANDY is the QUEEN of R&B

This is a case of an artist that just does not get it . That song is the one that would have put her over the top. I really like Brandy and supported her music. This performance just did not do it for me. If she sounded like that on the album I would not have purchased it. Artist want the fame and adulation but don't want to work for it. This performance is why Beyonce is the reigning Queen of R&B and so called Pop today. She shows that she wants it and works hard for the titles.
Who were you referring to when you said quit hating? Because I am most definitely not hating on Brandy. I love her, bought all of her CDs - watched her shows, movies, etc. I just found that a lot of people were talking about her more when she was acting. It was publicity. When was the last time you heard "What About Us?" requested or played simply as a DJ favorite? "Have You Ever?" spent 12 weeks (9 consecutive) at the top of radio airplay charts in 1999. But Top 40 and AC have pretty much forgotten it existed. She gets SOME recurrent play on urban radio, but at crossover/Pop there is no trace of her.

Trying to compare Brandy to Beyonce, is the surest way to bury her accomplishments. Despite the fact that B-Day was worked haphazardly, it's still 3x platinum in the US. "Irreplaceable" is the biggest hit of Beyonce's career and she has several hits of that magnitude, whereas Brandy has one. The album tracks from this disc will stand the test of time better than any smash hits that Brandy's released.
She should do more acting. Like, she should try getting a big deal in SOMETHING and then she should release her next CD. All of the CDs of hers that did exceptionally well were CDs that were put out during her acting career. Never Say Never was out when Moesha was on, after that ... I don't even remember hearing much about her.
By the way... I know singers can sometimes have a bad day or their voice may not always be on point, I myself have experienced it, but 3 strikes and you're OUT! lol

Brandy's back catalogue is not standing the test of time very well, compared to her peers - Something should be done about that if she wants to be seen as a viable artist for years to come. People in general (not just your DIE-HARD fans), should be able to name your hits.
album sells don't have anything to do with an artist's talent or how good their music is. but speaking of sales, Brandy has sold over 25 million records world wide and so many artist look up to her and respect her so she's already had her time and success.

I've always loved brandy and always considered her one of my favorite R&B artists. Until this day she still is, & I do not care what anyone says she great.

I judge singers on their live performances. Anybody now-a-day can go into a studio and come out with a hit, and I may like it, but if you can't sing live... BYE BYE!! Back in the day it meant something to sing live. Now we just hit the play button, or we distract the audiance with back flips, explosions, and dances. Get back to the MUSIC. SING!
