When people talk about my girl it makes me wana punch someone lol, this was between her never say never into full moon her voice changed drastically you'd know if u were a true fan
Clearly there was something wrong with her sound in her ears or something causing her to sing later then everyone else. she actually did a good job vocally, #teambrandy
Yes she couldn't hear herself and there was some sound issues going on, thats tuff when your on a big stage like that.. Poor Brandy you just know she was ready to kill this performance that night!!!! yall all know she saved it with that ending tho ;) .. *classic Brandy
yeah i think she couldnt hear herself and she kept looking back cause the choir was off and i think she stormed off kinda dissapointed, she still winged it though.Thats a hard song to sing live in my opinion.
Lol, although she ripped this song so elegantly in this dress I can't help but to chuckle at the little Tom boy that came out at the end... lol *taps chest twice... kiss the dueces... throws the dueces to God* lol and if that's not tomboyish enough, she goes on to throw hands up and root for the home team... The PIMP walks off the stage like she killed it which she did. lol Even then she wasn't afraid to be herself! I love it.
If you pay attention to this video she actually did better than you think. Love Fellowship had to go back and overdub their vocals because when they sang that night they were dragging the beat. If you pay attention to their lips they were behind the beat..as well notice the timing of Tammi's (Kirk's wife) to the actual beat being sang. So considering that her Brandy's part was never touched up after the taping, she did a very good job holding true to the original sound that was on the record.
she did very well.......this song was added to the "never say never" album i believe. i really like the soft ending, plus the writer of this song if great.
This is one of my favorite Brandy songs. I wish she had sung it higher like on the LP version - it would've been MUCH better. She has improved a lot since then. I also would love to hear a really strong singer perform this song - it really is it a beautiful song with a great message and (no offense to her - I am a Brandy fan) but I'd like to see someone with a strong voice (like Whitney or Pamela Mann) sing this. Thanks for posting.
I get what you are saying. This is a song for a powerhouse singer that belts a lot. It is definitely a WH, MC, Gloria Estefan or Celine Dion type of ballad. Brandy is a technical singer that sings with rhythmic accuracy, harmonies, riffs, and nuances using her voice as an extension of the musical instrumentation. This song doesn't allow her showcase these skills at all as it is a standard ballad with a choir. Brandy was beginning to change the sound of R&B around this time, it just hadn't caught up to her yet that's why this classic style ballad was on her album. As we have come to see over the years as she has matured into her own style as a singer and performer, we haven't seen much of Brandy singing a ballad such as this.
@kimmie6209 - LOL! This must have been the very first song you've heard of hers to say all of what you said... She actually does have a pretty powerful voice. She definitely doesn't have a gospel voice, but an R&B voice. I wish you were able to more of her to know that she actually CAN sing w/ runs, riffs, and vocal acrobatics.
Wow.....I also agree with you as well....her voice has always been going through a transition.....a great transition I might add.....big ups for having her album ! I got it too lol
i bet you can't sing so get off brandy's case she was a diva before keshia beyonce and the reat and she still she's perfectly human listen to the song. -lawrence a.k.a mobran96
*not disagreeing or arguing az ppl seem 2 always do on here* but, that may be true, i wuz sayin the editing iz off making it look worse. Or it couldve been the monitors. I've sang on stage b4 and the acoustics made the monitors kinda echo and it pushed the beat off a lil 4 us on stage behind the monitors as opposed 2 those in the audience not getting the echo. Brandy iz my girl, she's a beast, i totally agree with ur last sentence.
WOW dude...I couldnt have said it ANY better.......Its so unrealistic for people to hate on an artist the MINUTE they dont sound the same way they did when it was recorded and altered and tweaked and perfected....its ridiculous....Its good you can atleast be realistiv whether you are slightly let down or not....
@05treal SCREAM! That's what she'll do. a seasoned muscian won't SCREAM on nearly every song ....talented or not. som songs u just take ur time & sing it pretty...some pwrful, or just finess it. A vocalist MUST have a variety. patty labelle...chaka khan...just to call off a couple; these ladies can give it to u ANYWAY u want it. From having so much variety look at their status....look at the looong length of time they've been around; & eiither one can still pack the house!
to me it sounded like the choir was off.. Brandy was trying to sing it like the album version from "Never say Never" and the choir was singing it slower... im wondering if they rehearsed together at all.. this performance may be the reason why some many people thought she couldnt sing back in the day... i still think it was nice tho..
this performance is 10 years old she always said when she was doing her never say never album she was going through changes within ger voice i have the human album but this performance is 10 years old
You just wanna argue that all. And if anybody else has another opinion about Brandy other than what u say, its a problem. I'm a big Brandy fan thats y I watched the video. I didn't come hear to hate on her because I support her. You obviously just wanna argue so thats y your coming at me. EVERYBODY SAY ONLY GOOD THINGS ABOUT THIS VIDEO OR maxxRedsox WILL COME AFTER YOU!
And as u can see the person above you stated their case in response to what I said! They didn't attack me or find a way to tell me that subconsciously I want to bring Brandy down. State your case and don't attack. You can be an adult about it. And by the way I have all of Brandy's albums
no i think its the video quality .. , or the choir was singing a little louder... lol.. ok I dont want to start a fight.. of course im being bias. lol.. her voice is just a little tired.. but she still ended it beautifully .. :)
You obviously need to read the comments again because hamto1 said that she didn't particularly like Monica and that Brandy was better than her. I disagreed with her about Monica so you need to get your facts straight
@hamrto1 I love Brandy to but have heard Monica's new song "until its gone". I would have agreed with you until I heard this song. its like monica invented herself again. I love Brandy but this wasn't her best and she was all over the place vocally
Please! Monica wishes she had half the vocal skills of Brandy. Brandy effortlessly gives you multi-dimmensional layered beautiful harmonies, and multi-faced vocal tones and textures. Her runs are more crisp, and she stays on key in the right pitch UNlike Monica. Brandy's musical ear and creative vocal explorations give her a great advantage over Monica....Talk to me when she can match HALF of Brandy's vocal and musical flexibility. Brandy, the superior artist, musician, and singer. Stay mad.
@sanggurl16 Monica hasn't invented anything new. "Until it's Gone" is an underwhelming, lackluster song for her. She has MUCH better material. At best, it sounds like album filler. She has been recycling the same musical formula for YEARS, which is covering/sampling old R&B/Soul/Pop songs in her music. IMO, there's more growth and development in Brandy's music cause she experiments with it. None of her albums sound alike. With that, I must say Brandy stands as the more versatile singer/artist.
i love this song, this was when brandy was going through voice changes, that is what happens when you turn into an adult. She couldn't hit those high notes like she use to when she was in her younger teens that is why they had to change the keys
