Her voice seems like it reinvents itself every 3 years or so. I am an EXTREME Brandy fan and an avid listener so yes I agree with you ! 💯 She use a lot more head voice on this latest album and she embraced more of her “youthful” lighter tones . I can’t really explain it but I can definitely hear it 😂👌🏿
I’m glad you said all of this. Brandy’s voice is always changing. When she sang the start spangled banner, I felt a little bit of her Human vocal era was peaking through, unlike 211 which was way more raspy.
I’ll say this! For this audience I think this was a safe and clean performance. I love her low notes that’s what makes her Brandy. I think these RU-vid coaches and fans dig into it more than needed. Dilessa I agree people are so messy! Brandy’s voice is never going to be a Whitney! She is who she is and accept that and move on!
People KILL me with the lip synch shame. Lol. Who cares if Brandy lip synchs ONE performance?!?!?! She’s literally BRANDY! She has been Singing LIVE her ENTIRE Career. She has PROVEN herself as a Vocalist MULTIPLE times. If she decided to REST her Voice one time I don’t Blame Her.
Right! People always assume that . It’s so funny how what Brandy does goes right over people head and ears 😂. People are then even shock to know that she can even belt , Brandy can do it all really .
She did better than most people. Those low notes were very low, most singers couldn't sing that low acapella and maintain resonance. I do think she sang it slightly too low though. People have a high note bias.
Good review...one thing though...I don't think Brandy displayed any nervousness in her performance. As you stated there are several videos of her performing the national anthem acapella at other sporting events. Also, I have never heard of a professional recording artist being described as being nervous. She is a veteran performer and knows how not to put that on display.
She was definitely nervous lol she even said it. She’s not a performer on big platforms and this was live and a hard song and acappella. Lol and she’s my favorite but it’s true bruh lol
@@Anfani Brandy is very humble in her interviews. I know she has said that she was nervous. What I meant by what I said was, she didn't display her nervousness in her performance. I didn't see or hear that from her at all when she sang. I think she executed what she rehearsed like she always does and even flashed a smile at the end that let me think that she felt like she nailed it. Mary J Blige said she was nervous too in interviews. Nobody has said Mary did good but you can tell she was nervous.
For the record Whitney did not sing her version LIVE! What reviews were reading??? She has been praised. What an frustrating review SMDH!!! Had to turn it off!
Ooo chile. I want to hear it without all of the reverb and echoing and etc. I don't think her voice is built for this type of song. It's a BIG song and her voice isn't BIG big anymore! No shade; it's just not her vibe. She's STILL one of the best and most unique voices of our time! Period!
Was her voice ever "big"? I actually think her voice is thicker and fuller since she did Chicago. She has more weight and richness in her upper belts without losing her signature synth-y brightness.
What does this even mean? I didn’t know the star bangled banner was exclusive to singers with “big” voices.. Brandy is that skilled of a vocalist that she can adapt and sing pretty much anything. Her voice isn’t weighty but she has the skill and range.
