Brazil's largest city, São Paulo began as a small village in the 16th century. It grew rapidly, fueled by coffee and industrialization, becoming a major economic hub. Immigration influenced its culture, and it's now a diverse metropolis with a rich history, blending Portuguese, Indigenous, African, and immigrant influences. São Paulo has the largest airport in the Western and Southern hemisphere so if you're flying through South America and have the opportunity of a long layover (15 hours or more) at GRU airport check your luggage and spend the day at Avendia Pualista and Museu Afro Brasil you'll be glad you did!!

Museu Afro Brasil in São Paulo showcases African and Afro-Brazilian art, culture, and history. It honors African heritage and contributions to Brazilian society through exhibits of artifacts, art, documentaries, and historical documents, promoting awareness and understanding of this vital aspect of Brazil's cultural. I have personally never seen such a beautiful and thorough display of Black history, beauty, and art it was an honor and a joy to experience!!
