I remember when TBC started out. They played right on the corner of Canal and Bourbon. Always got mad respect from the Veteran Brass Band. Young men could've been out here robbing and killing ppl. They really made a name for themselves. R.I.P. Brandon Franklin
I don't care how many times I encounter a Brass band in NOLA or a Secondline,, I'm soooo EXCITED like it's my first time!!!! LOUISIANA BORN & BRED!!!! There's no place in the U.S. like NOLA!!! 🔥 ❤🔥 ❤
The man that’s in the wheel chair is my dad the 2men playing the trombone are my uncles the one playing the tuber is my uncle the one that behind my dad is my uncle
Question, can any one give me a brief history of the Second-Line costumes? Why do they carry the umbrellas and/or "paddles" (not sure if that's the technical name for item they carry in hand)?
I have only driven through Louisiana to get to Texas so there is know way I know any of these people, but I swear at least 10 or 12 of them in this video look like some of my friends in Memphis. LOL. I guess we do all look alike. Just kidding. I would love to have something like this pop off on Beale Street. Just some rival groups show up and toss tunes at each other. I'd probably start back playing just to do it once or twice. Given Memphis' history with music you would think it'd already be happening.
Because black culture in the north is watered down. Black culture is most present in predominantly black cities in the south. The minority people anywhere will lose parts of their culture due to mixing and mingling with the predominant culture. Therefore, black cities in the south have been predominantly black since the 1600's, which, understandably so, a lot of our culture is still preserved today, like in New Orleans. Cities in the south still preserve a lot of our traditional African roots, but like any tree, the further from the root, the weaker it gets. Any predominantly black cities in the north are no older than 100 years in being mostly black. Hope that makes sense.
@@TheJayblaze3 every city ive ever lived in, in the usa is at least half black so i think that gives me enough reason to be concerned. i basically consider usa a half black country. but next year i might be leaving the country for good to go back 2 europe, so i guess i wudnt care anymore, since every city in europe is almost 98% white
