Thought it was time to upgrade our Dometic Waeco CFX40 to a bigger unit for travelling and for $799 I couldn’t resist the Brass Monkey 95L Dual Zone Fridge! This is an unboxing and quick look at the 12v fridge which comes with a 3 year warranty, only time will tell if it’s as good as the out going Waeco!

you can swap the lids around if you want to open them from the other way, it's easy as to do it no bolts just lift it off

Hey mate, how it is handling now? I have the 25L fridge and most of the time its fine but when its hot outside and warm-ish inside the car, the motor of the fridge dies off even if its filled with cold stuff at 2c. Cheers for the review

Seems to be running fine on eco mode and low battery settings. I do find that the temp tolerance is +/- 3 degrees. Also throwing some room temperature water into the fridge it does take its time to get back to temp but eventually does get back down to temperature

Hey mate I have it running on -18 and +3 for the last 2 months and it has averaged 500wh for 24 hours which I think is 41-42ah. But then saying that when we had a clean out of both sides and it hit 950wh/83-84ah that day. Is a thirsty unit from startup and I wouldn’t recommend with out a decent battery or solar at the least

Saying that, it hasn’t missed a beat and with a less aggressive freezer temp it drops the power significantly.

@@JS_Adventure G’day mate thanks for your reply I have a snow master fridge freezer combo and they say from when you started up you should be on 240 V as it uses a lot of power once it gets to its optimum it’s on about 43 to 45 A per 24 hours

Yeah sounds good! We’re constantly driving so power isn’t an issue if we’re not moving I’ll park it in the sun for the solar to keep it running. Seems to be keeping up just fine

is that handle sturdy enough to tie down onto the rear drawer? thats the only thing putting me off.
@JS_Adventure

Yes is pretty sturdy. It doesn’t have the look and feel of quality over a waeco/dometic but i have it strapped down either end with simple pull straps and it hasn’t moved anywhere after a couple of beach trips. Have also had it fully loaded and picked it up by the handles with a mate to put in the car. Hope it helps
