That's a great looking brass engine and sound really great too. I am getting ready soon to convert some of my brass steam to DCC/sound, and it will be a challenge as my dad has sent me almost 60 brass steam engines over the years from train shows he used to attend in CA. (I am in NJ). I am likely to pick 10 to 15 of my favorites and convert one at a time myself. I am sure I will have my hands full with the cost and time factor to do the conversions. I will be selling on ebay most of the rest of the steam engines. Thanks for sharing this video. Your model is a beauty. Phil
Super looking model , dig the snake-pit of piping crawling all over the smoke-box , awesome timbre to the dead-in synchrony sound . Can't be many out there in steam profile to top this lady !
Adam, I’m also a TCS fan and recently picked up some cell phone speakers to start a project on one of my brass locomotives. (and have been scouting in-boiler locations). Where in the locomotive are the four speakers mounted, and what are the speaker and baffle dimensions (if you know). Would you be willing to pop the boiler off and shoe the installation?
Matt Goodman hey Matt. Join my group on Facebook: The Brass Collectors and Operators and I will post some photos I have of the install. The speakers are located around the motor
I've heard that from many people but never found it to be a problem personally. I've been running O scale with smoke for 40 years. It is only an issue if overloaded and it "spits". Even then it is easily wiped off. Everyone is different, but a Steam engine without smoke looks ridiculous to me. Yours really sounds great though.
@@jonnyspeed - Do "they" actually make anything for HO that would fit, and work in a proper way to make it worth the effort? In O scale, you can do all kinds of cool little things, but in HO, we are pretty tight on space.
Apocalypse Railroad Yes. ESU makes an HO I/O board that controls a smoke unit. TCS 501 will as well and can fit in some HO tenders. Smoke units from MTH and BLI can be used.
Beautiful model. However, the firebox flicker is totally inappropriate for a coal burner. You only see the flame flicker on oil burners as they don't have an ash pan.(the ash pan prevents any visible signs of the fire on a coal burner, indeed if flames were visible in that area it would indicate a problem) Just a minor rant from a pedant!
Without "up to date" tech and realistic prototype running these are "toys" and a waste of money, considering the advanced state now available and being demonstrated for the current market-
Josedav the point of my video wasn’t to prototypically switch cars, spot a car on a track or take a train out of the yard. It was simply to show the sounds of the new TCS decoder in the Locomotive. Another day when I have time I’ll do “realistic prototype running”
