Excellent explanation. The ONLY thing you didn't talk about is the significant difference in TASTE of brass vs zinc belts. I recommend going brass for those who prefer more of an aromatic, floral, or even nuttier taste to their belts. Zinc is for those who have a less refined palate and want more of an umami or meatier taste to their belts. Kidding. Seriously, excellent review, and I appreciate you giving both the facts and your personal opinion/experience.
As a kid in the late 80s and all thru the 90s I always thought those belts were made out of real gold but now I don't care which metal they made from those belts are beautiful no matter which one it is. I would like to own one, one day thanks for the info
I agree with you and I just received my NWA National Heavyweight replica Championship belt that is from Black Bart to Wahoo Mcdaniel and Love my new belt and it's made of brass and I agree with you 100 percent and God Bless you my Friend 🙏🙏
want to say thank you for your post about this. Im looking to buying my first belt from a belt maker. I have some WWE belts but its this AEWZinc I was looking at and boy you helped and got a new sub!!
Yeah I have zinc titles and I have brass titles and honestly the best looking title belt I have is my 2mm brass Intercontinental title with white strap. I went through a company where it cost a little bit more than your average 2mm brass title. But it was well worth it it's the best-looking title belt I have, it's even better looking than the 1 figures Inc title that I have. It's worth going brass if you've picked the right company to buy it from. If you picked a company and you only paying about $100 for the title then you're taking a very large chance and most likely are going to get garbage, I did that with my first belt, my advice is find a different company pay that extra fifty bucks even for 2mm brass and you won't be disappointed.
Thanks bro, and Belt Fan Dan did point out a few things in the comments that I forgot to mention in the vid. I'm all about spreading the proper knowledge.
You don't buy a belt with raw finish zinc. The zinc is electroplated. So the whole "zinc tarnishes easier than brass" is irrelevant. Brass is softer which means it is easier to damage, especially should it be ring used. Your "zinc" belts are likely electroplated. Properly plated belts will have copper, then nickel and if required, gold. It is the electroplating which scratches easily, regardless of what the base metal is. J-Mar for example, would use CHROME plating instead of nickel because it was harder and tougher to scratch. The early Fig Inc belts were just polished brass which is what most $200 bootlegs are. Makes it look gold, cheap, and why you could curve them over your knee. They tarnished easily though, so later on, they started putting clear coats over the finished product to increase the durability and longevity of them. You can see older Figs belts from the early 2000's that look like the clear coat is peeling off for example. I would recommend the opposite of your advice: Shelf queens can be brass and anything that will be handled/used should be zinc.
Thank you for your input. You mentioned to me on Reddit that you disagree with a lot of my points, and that is perfectly fine. I knew about the electroplating process, though I failed to mention it. I did not know about the clear coats and what they do to protect tarnishing. I still stand behind some of my points, but once again, I thank you for your advice, and being respectful. At the end of the day, we are all here to learn so that we are more knowledgeable about belts, and it's best that we learn from each other.
@The Wrestling Fray your points are wrong. Thank God you're not doing belt reviews as much anymore. I hope you don't do podcasts either. Your Enrob Gimmick is trash as well. It's hilarious seeing you sit down with your non chalant mannerisms while speaking falsely on belts. YOU S"U"C"K!!!!
Thanks for the video. My first belt is a Zinc dual plated wing eagle, I'm now thinking of the Light Heavyweight title but not sure if I should save some dough or not. I have a couple tarnish spots on my dual plated belt may go with brass. Thanks
Thank you much for providing this info. I'm more educated about belts significantly. I will need a few of my belts in need of restoration. Do you or your peoples know of belt restorers in the Southern California area ?
I love the video! So, what are most of the ring-used belts from the WWE, NWA, AWA, etc., made of? Zinc? I always assumed that they used aluminum (that could pass as silver), nordic gold (that could pass as gold), tin, and copper. (Admittedly, I know very little about title belts.)
@@thewrestlingfray2016 Forgive me if you covered this in another video (I just discovered you), but what are some of your favorite belts? My favorite has to be the NWA "Golden Dome."
@@gregorykrug8034 I actually haven't covered that yet, but my favorites, I would have to say are the Big Gold, and the Big Eagle. The Domed Globe and Winged Eagle did eventually grow on my, but I'm a fan of Big belts. I also le the WWE US Title, it is a beast of a replica. Also, don't worry about asking anything that I've already done. I love this hobby and I love talking about it. Any questions you have, I will answer to the very best of my knowledge as I am still learning as well after all these years. Also, If you have any ideas for me to present on the channel, shoot them too me.
@@thewrestlingfray2016 Thanks! Sounds great! I am always a fan of top ten lists. They have been done before, but I am always curious about peoples' opinions.
I like the old Nwa world title! Good information on the brass and zinc differences. So is most of the replicas for sale brass or zinc? I noticed some of them claim the plates are zinc alloy?
There's a good mix of both brass and zinc for sale. If shopping on Amazon or Ebay, most of the time, those are going to be brass, but they sometimes have zinc. Just make sure the belt looks legit. Check out my vid titled "unboxing fail" to show you how a shitty belt looks.
The newer replicas put out by the legitimate replica makers are a zinc alloy for the casted style belts. The original 1999-early 20000's Fig Inc replicas were straight up polished solid stamped brass.
Belts are not supposed to be made out of brass. Only reason it was ever started was to make a cheap method to bang out mass produced replicas. Bootleggers still use this method because it’s cheap, most official replica belts are now made of zinc alloy.
I have a 2mm brass gold plated ufc belt version 2. I want to restore the plates from full gold to dual plated. What are your recommendations if any. I do want to use a 24 karat gold spray for new coating
The brass belt was made by Muhammad Luqman, and the zinc belt was made by United Brothers Belts. There's a good mix of brass and zinc when you go out to buy.
I heard brass is heavier, but these two belts in particular were pretty much the same to me. Being that the brass/zinc is electroplated, it may not be the big of a difference
@justinmitchell5605 Ibrahim Butt's spinning mech is pretty decent, as seen in my Spinner TNT vid. But I have to be honest with you. There are some belts that are better to get from WWE shop rather than an independent maker, and I believe that the spinner is one of them.
@justinmitchell5605 I'm afraid the strap is still trash, and even if you do get it from WWESHOP, it will have to be releathered. I do see "Great Custom Belts" on Facebook making some that look pretty decent so far, But I have not seen the finished product yet. That will be one place to inquire about one, because the maker is actually pretty cool. He made my AEW.
Anytime bro. I have no issue with belts from Pakistan, I do buy some. You have to find the right maker though. Most people who are against makers from Pakistan are ones that have had a bad experience. I would ask around. Hit me up on FB, and I can give you my recommendations.
Thanks for the video. Very informative! I'm currently looking to get an IWGP Heavyweight V4 belt but I'm not sure where to look (other than Amazon). By chance do you happen to have one, how much was it or would you know where I could find one? Thanks!
@@joethevideoeditor489 Hello I saw your comment on the wrestling fray regarding the IWGP 4 I have business with Hamyar Championship Belts on Facebook Muhammad Arham he makes any type of belt. He is honest and does take time to communicate due to high volume of belts. Great beltmaker I bought 2 belts, the wait time to receive your belt 4 to 6 months due to the pandemic. However it is worth it.
