Hispida holds it's leaves over winter unlike mitis. Maybe this is why this plant is slow to start growing new leaves in the spring unlike mitis which starts growing new leaves in spring.
Plant in shade, dappled sun light, compost manure and plenty of gravel for drainage has been placed under the brassiopsis and schefflera plants.
