I like your perspective. People who can't look past the obvious and easy tourist cities like Prague, Budapest, Krakow, etc...are really missing out. Destinations that are a bit less travelled, and that require a bit more effort, can be considerably more rewarding.
Slovakia same as a Czech rep., Austria, Hungary and Poland are central european states. Many people change it with east block during communism (cold war) era. Eastern europe begins with Ukraine.
Waiting for the part 2..... Heh you were only in small streets of the old town in this video. But the old town is a little bit bigger with medieval palaces or castle up on the hill and also the new city center with skyscrapers on the bank of the Danube river and architecture by Zaha-Hadid for example. And if your friends are from eastern Slovakia it is normall that they said to you 'sorry for Bratislava'.... They are very jealous for the western parts of the country, because of western parts are rich and more developed compare to eastern parts.....
Vienna is from Bratislava 50 km - 31 mile, So is Vienna eastern Europe too ? :-), BTW, Yes, Slovakia is a vey safe country, therefore you do not see the guards around, they are just not needed. Many Slovakian people do not realize this, because it is in our nature to feel safe here, and make it safe here.
Nice video, all 5 of them. I'm afraid that you visited it in a wrong time of the year, and also covid made it even more empty. If you are wondering about the palace you saw, it's the Presidential Palace, the president has her offices there, but doesn't live there. Slovak presidents usually keep living in their own houses, even outside of Bratislava. There are usually guards in front of the palace, maybe the president was not there at the time, no idea. As we say, when visiting Slovakia, it's a mistake to visit only the capital, because the beautiful places are scattered all over the country. Greetings!
@@brivvr May is probably the best. Sunny, warm but not completely hot, most of the places that are closed in winter (some castles, etc) are already open. Caves are open only in June - August though. September may be good too, it's not hot and the summer vacation is over.
The main reason why Slovaks dont really like Bratislava is because we are a nation od small towns, nature, calm and traditions...we really are not Proud of our "big cities"...
