In this review video, we have a chinwag about electric foil shavers. What's the best affordable electric foil shaver men ... does the crown go to the Braun Series 7 or the Panasonic Arc 5?
I am reviewing the 2nd best shavers on the market from Braun and Panasonic. The best shaver in the Panasonic line-up is Arc 6, which is 1 series ahead of the Arc 5. The best shaver/s in the Braun line-up is the Series 9 and 9 pro, and the 2nd best option goes to the Series 7.
I would say the Panasonic Arc 5 and the Braun Series 7 are probably the two most important shavers in the foil shaver space at the moment, because they are affordably priced and they kinda have everything you need if you want a good quality, close shave.
Overall, the Braun Series 7 is the more popular product than the Panasonic Arc 5, but there are advantages to Panasonic's system (namely it delivers a closer shave...at a pretty disastrous cost for some people).

Translations of the day 🇬🇧: Chinwag = a conversation Init = short for 'isn't it' or 'wasn't it'....a way of leading someone to agree with you...kind of like a nodding gesture in a conversation "that mcdonalds was proper cushty init?" Mug = someone's face Nicker = 1 pound sterling "that steak meal cost me 20 nicker" Geezer = a male, typically an adult man from working class background - likes to drink in pubs, watch football and enjoys an occasional punch up Pucker = good, quality Lad = opposite of a lady (whatever that means)...but typically being a lad means you're a bit cheeky or blokeish Throwing your toys out your pram = to throw a temper tantrum or get upset Nifty = something pleasant..often it has a unique quality about it "that's a nifty new phone case you got there" Smashing = excellent "the weather is smashing today" Cushty = a good feeling or something that gives you a good feeling "we went to a cushty little pub today" or "i'm feelin cushty today" Bosh = a concusionary word ... it marks the ending of a sentence or a point similar to saying "job done, finito, full stop, bish bash bosh" Fingy me bobs = something you say when you forget the name of something "pass those fingy me bobs" Pal = a friend Git = an annoying or obscure person "that little git's only gone and run off wiv me wallet"

After owning 2 Braun series 9 razors and replacing the blades ($100 a pop) twice each (they get dull quickly) I bought a Panasonic ARC5. So far it is much quieter, gives a much closer shave and the blades seem to last longer than the Braun. I've been a Braun shaver user for over 20 years, but after trying the ARC5, no more Braun shavers for m.

Bang on mate, I've had Panny razors for a decade now, got the right old hump with the cost of replacement foils and cutter blades, availability. Got an LV65 right now, and same difference - 60 odd quid for a new pack, vs 85 quid to buy a whole new razor. That's mental oriental. So I'm going Braun too. Also side-note, in China, the chinese burn is called 'spicy'. My mrs said.

Greetings from Germany. Here the braun series 7 cost me 169 Euro 😅. The series 9 is about 300. This will be my first electric shaver. Which one should I buy? Is it worth the extra money? I will shave every other day maybe.

Great review! I found the 7-Series way too noisy and vibratey! Also, getting the head off is a PITA, and it is cheap plastic.

The Series 9 pro is great so I would imagine any Series 9 will be great too. Give the Arc 6 a spin, it is suppose to be much easier on the skin. You won't go wrong with a Braun, but if you can get a closer shave without irritation, it could work.

@@propercushty Will do, pal. Here in the U.S. it was called the Indian Burn, but now, of course, it's the 'native American burn'. We played one of those rock-scissors-paper games in school, and the loser got 'burned'. That was me, more often than not so I wimped out. Nicked myself shaving yesterday with a blade razor, got bits of blood in the bathroom - great ammo for cajoling the missus into letting me spend money on a snazzy new electric razor. My arc 5 lasted about 2 to 3 years, just got a braun 7, doesn't give any occasional red spots on my neck. Also the trimmer on the arc 5 is basic as fuck. The brauns accessories well make up for a razer thin potentially marking shave. Also the braun isn't as fat, and it's not worth it to get the charging dock for the arc 5, hated that plastic waste basket, cleaning it under the tap is 10 times better.

I have the Braun series 7 and I want the arc 5 cause I want the closest shave possible. Like baby skin. Everytime I use the braun 7, the next day I still get stubble? And yes I change my blades too. So should I get the arc 5 now?

@@Nattymatty7 no TRUST ME you don't want the arc 5, it will fuck up your skin, and your skin doesn't feel as soft as with the braun 7. Take it from someone who used it for 3 years BEFORE IT BROKE. Not to mention there's no swappable blades. And the trimmer on the arc 5? Only good for minimal applications like side burns. I'd take the braun 7 blades over a trash trimmer and skin suffocating blade any day of the week. AND the braun is slimmer, AND has a sensor which the arc 5 doesn't have, AND it's much cheaper.
