Braveheart has one of my favorite film soundtracks of all time. And one of only a few I own along with Blade Runner, October Sky, and 28 Days Later. The score was done by James Horner who is one of the greatest film composers in the history of cinema. He also composed for Titanic, Field of Dreams, Glory, and many other classic films. He tragically died in a plane crash in 2015. And his early passing only makes his work even more moving, special, and iconic than it already was.

Braveheart and Gladiator.... Man. I love when new reactors come from Marvel and DC films completely blind and are invested from first moments, then emotionally wrecked, gotten inspired just to be wrecked again and then be inspired. The rollercoater of emotion, amazing direction and sheer performance in these films with absolutely amazing scores hit so hard. Out of all Braveheart reactions this is my favourite. Blue, you are so kind and honest with your feelings. This makes your reactions truly amazing to watch. Thank you!

His execution was made more palatable for US movie audiences. The actual execution was done with the traditional method of being hung, drawn and quartered. He was dragged by horse naked through the streets to the site of the execution. Then he was hung, but not until death (as they showed). He was then castrated, disemboweled, his bowels burned, then beheaded and his body cut into four parts. His head was dipped in tar and put on a spike at London bridge, with the other four parts of his body on display at other locations. Yes, we have come up with horrific ways to kill each other. And no, once somebody is sentenced to that kind of execution, nobody would dare try to save you.

This has to be the most comments even on a reaction I’ve ever done. The fear of heavy horse, Blue, until the advent of a pike formation was terribly justified. Inertia alone of 2,000lbs of trained warhorse, barding and armoured rider would literally crush a lightly or non armoured infantryman. Plus the ability to move and close at speed, inside a longbow volley……a morally breaking opponent to be sure.

Without hesitation, I can say that this is one of the best movies ever made (if you can overlook the historical inaccuracies). The theme, the subject matter, the cinematography, the acting, the accents, the mustic--there is not a thing wrong with this movie. It is a constant roller coaster of emotion, and I always find myself wanting to go for the ride again. I basically know this movie by heart. Great reaction. And proper freedom is underrated these days--people have forgotten why so many peoples in the world fought so hard to achieve it.

I found that Vlad Tepes the Impaler fought his biggest battle against the Ottomans, on BULGARIAN soil. That was nice to hear. She's definitely a critical thinker and not an NPC zombie.

It is no wonder this movie would inspire you and touch something deep inside, your grandparents could probably relate to it even more strongly as people who lived through the tyranny and deprivation of Russian communism that oppressed Bulgaria for decades following the literal slavery you knew for centuries under the Ottoman Turks.

The implication with the young courtier Edward the Longshanks tossed out a window is that Edward's son is gay, and that was his lover. Thus, the prince's immediate attempt to kill King Edward in revenge.

I have heard of Prima Nochte but I have heard that (if it was ever used at all) it was meant as an excuse to instigate a fight with the local people. troops would be brought in to a nearby area then Prime Nochte would be declared. When a lord would say he was going to take the newly married woman to his bed, the inevitable reaction would turn violent (as anyone would). At that point, the troops waiting for the violent reaction would come in and attack the locals in order to beat down the local population and oppress them. It is a really terrible thing to do. I am surprised the Church would not object.

You mentioned how graphic the battle scene was. I saw this for the first time in the county's biggest theatre screen. I felt like I needed to dodge and duck. It was great.

This has always been one of my favorite movies! i was super young when i first saw it and i cry like a little baby every time i see it. lol One thing to know though, years later i found out it was basically historically inaccurate except for the battle of Sterling. Still a great movie anyways.

In the movie, it seemed most of the English soldiers were conscripts, meaning drafted men. Not well trained and recently taken from farms or the like. Not sure if that's historical to the battle but for the movie, that's probably the case. The Scots were passionate and inspired

In a medieval battle those horses would be your enemies. The horsemen are in a superior position in front of the warriors who are on the ground

This is one of my favorite films while realizing that this movie is horribly inaccurate. To start with, the kilt was not worn until the 1800's. I wish they would have shown the real battle at Stirling Bridge. To start with you need a bridge. The bridge was narrow, and the Scotts attacked the English before they could move all of their army across making the superior numbers meaningless due to their inability to bring those numbers to force. The princess did not marry the prince until 3 years after the death or William Wallace, so they never even met. Interestingly, the prince was only king for a short time before being deposed and having is son, or at least the son of Princess Isabella. She then ruled as regent from 1327 to 1330 until Edward the third became of age. It was rumored that Edward the second may have had romantic relations with several of the nobles of England.
