The Bravo Throttle Quadrant configurator for Xplane 11 is now available. This video runs through the download and install process, plus we go into some detail in the Honeycomb Configuration program, and set up the Boeing 737 and Cessna Skyhawk 172 in Xplane for a test flight, to ensure all is working and we get the annunciation panel lights on!

PROBLEMS INSTALLING HONEYCOMB CONFIGURATOR FOR XPLANE 11...read this:
FROM HONEYCOMB SUPPORT
1. Always check to ensure that you have the latest version of X-Plane installed. This can stop some flight some add-ons from installing.
2. You may need to disable your computer security before you install flight sim software. Don't forget to re-enable your computer security software after the installation.
If that doesn't work then...
3. CAUTION: Always back up files before changing or deleting them. You can go back and delete the backed up files after you have proved the changes you’ve made are working.
X-Plane may have been moved to another location, or any part of the Windows path may have been renamed (in Windows that is the same as moving a folder/file). To resolve this, search the computer for the following file (normal path is shown below):
C:\Users\*your username*\AppData\Local\x-plane_install_11.txt
There may be several files with the same name only in slightly different locations or in the same location only with a number in parenthesis after them (Example: x-plane_install_11(1).txt) and if so you should backup all of them, then delete the original files EXCEPT the file which contains the correct path to where X-Plane is presently installed. Then reboot the computer, and try to run the Alpha/Bravo Software Installer as recommended above (computer security disabled, run the installer as Administrator). When you have success you can delete the backup files.
4. Yet Another Possibility (especially with Steam Version): Some users make an X-Plane shortcut and place it on their desktop, and that shortcut was also in the install log. If you have done this, you will need to delete the shortcut location from the x-plane_install_11.txt file and the Honeycomb installer should then work.
It is typically a good idea to reboot anyway you’ve installed new software.

Quick and Easy when it works. When the lights don't com on and the selectors don't work, you're hanging in the wind as no one has shown how to activate individual lights yet in the configurator. Lots of videos like this but none when the defaults don't work as they're supposed to.

Thank you so much for this excellent tutorial. For those who are on an M1 Mac (Max) Try this - Run X-Plane in Rosetta mode. Your LED's should work, and the autopilot (rotary knobs) should work as well EVEN if you don't see the 'number options' listed in the profile settings area.

The help provided in this video stopped me from returning my bravo quadrant. I’m a new flight simmer, it astonishes me that this thing is sold with absolutely no coherent instruction on it’s setup and use. I’ve had it for two days and am gradually getting it to a satisfactory level of use. Just can’t seem to get the A/P working yet. I would be absolutely lost without these videos.

Thank you for this video! Did you ever figure out how to eliminate the red hydraulics light on the panel for the Cessna 172? Also, for the Cessna 172, is there anyway to increase the sensitivity of the trim wheel? In its default configuration, you have to turn it way too many times to get any appreciable response.

Hi, the only way to turn the light off is to change the value in the LED configurator. I think I made it 0. Haven’t tried adjusting the trim wheel so far. Regards

Yeah, they have updated the honeycomb driver, this turns it off…..most of the time.

The main point is having to download the drivers, something I didn't realize. I couldn't understand the configurator so I just left that site. In XP12, I got the essential speed brake and throttles going. I set up the reversers in the same manner that you did but, no workee. I will have to try things to figure out why not. With my old Saiteks, I could simply pull them back into the detent and they worked, perhaps XP remembered that? Not sure. Fortunately my yoke has convenient buttons for the gear, TOGA, and flaps, as well as the trim. Tomorrow I will try to set up the PMDG 737 in MFS2020. Be interesting to see if reverse works in that. I got the Bravo throttles so I could also fly the ATR in MFS, and that is working fine, but has to be re-done so the positions match with the 737 and I don't have to swap throttle handles going back and forth.

Actually, I found that one of my reversers works and the other one didn't. That shows that it was the correct procedure. I have re-set the other one and will try it again.

Hi Mark - absolutely love your videos and enthusiasm. I have X-Plane 11 and will probably not get MSFS for a while. I am having an issue with assigning my Honeycomb Bravo levers in X-Plane. (I had the same issue with the Saitek throttle quadrant). Despite numerous calibration attempts my (737) throttles would be reversed - ie increasing the throttle would result in a decrease power in the sim and vice versa). The axis for the speedbrake and flaps is reversed (is this correct?). Do you have any suggestions? Should I re-install the Bravo?

Hi Warwick, this is a common issue, but easy to rectify. In the Joystick menu in Xplane, when binding an axis, you will see a small box labelled REVERSE AXIS tick that box and the axis will be reversed. Problem solved. Regards

When the msfs update releases can you see if all the lights light up on the Throttle when you test the annunciator lights on a plane in the sim? I know the default 172 with steam gauges has annunciator test and I think the cap 10 does as well. The flybywire a320 also can test the lights.

Hello Mark, fantastic video, thanks for making it! A question for you. at 18:33 or so, you mention that this is "the default profile from X-plane...". Is there some sort of file that maps out everything on the Bravo Throttle automatically for different aircraft? (ie: Zibo 737, C172) Thanks!

Hi, the light configuration may not have copied across to your existing profiles, check the DEFAULT profile and they should work. This unfortunately means you will need to rebuild your profiles. Regards

Hi Mark. Thanks for the video. I was wondering how to get the reverser to release as they only register a button press when you pull them for me, so I have to pull them again to disengage the reverser. There seems to be no button associated with releasing the reverser levers.

Thank you for the video. I started with the C172 thinking it was the simplest, but I'm struggling to get the autopilot switching on/off by pressing the n°8 switch since I don't find the corresponding action in the XP11 list. It works if switched directly from the panel inside the plane, but this is not what I see in your video. Please help further, thanks

hi mark, thanks for the info, im wanting to make increment adjustments to the bravo throttle quandrant to change the ALT /HDG//IAS /VS from the standard 10 oer click to 100/500/1000 per click , i did see a video on how to do this via mr jaranet but it only does it from a a 300 profile not from say a default profile ive made on the configurator... does anyone know how to do this, can i use a toggle switch on the annunciator panel to do this cheers

Great video. One question about default profile on X-Plane. The Alt button is lit on my Bravo as soon as I enter plane (Zibo). I press other buttons and they don't light up. Is that normal? Can you share your profile?

Hi, yes my ALT light does come on. If I press the other buttons they also come on. The Zibo mod uses some non-default mappings unfortunately so the default autopilot does not work 100% with the Zibo at the moment. Regards

@@helihot , Hi, my throttle quad is an early model, the CRS button on the autopilot has been changed to VS. IAS button is used for flight level change. The Zibo uses some bespoke mapping for controllers unfortunately which is non-standard.

Hi thanks for the video. I am having an issue. I have done everything as shown in the video I believe. my issue is the gear lever does not do anything except when flying the zibo 737. In other planes the gear lever on the quadrant does nothing. In xplane the gear lever is set to up/down but when using the physical lever nothing happens. if I click the lever in virtual cockpit then lights go from green to red. If I fly zibo 737 however the gear lever works as it should. can you help me?

Hi Steven, sounds odd. First thing that comes to mind is what controller profile are you using for other aircraft. The lights config may not have carried across perhaps to other configurations. You may need to rebuild all configs from your default profile which will link the lights to the bindings. Regards

Hello and thanks again for providing the informative tutorials. I run X-Plane on in MacOSX and it seems like some functionalities are not working as advertised. I.e. the import of profiles in the configurator does not work for me. I am also unclear how I would go about, or if it is necessary at all, to create a specific profile for the individual aircraft in my sim, i. e. Boeing, Airbus or generally single or multiple engine jets and various different turboprops, single or multiengine. How does X-Plane recognise these different profiles, that were created in the honeycomb configurator. Should or must we have different honeycomb profiles to match the different aircraft in X-Plane. In X-plane settings I only see the default honeycomb profile that can be bound to the bravo throttle. Should one see all the different honeycomb profiles that were created in order to tie them to a certain aircraft in X-Plane? Am I overthinking something?

Hello, the config module only gives you one profile with all the LED's activated. You can then build new profiles from that one, changing the config as needed and saving the profiles in Xplane under different names. You need to build from default or another profile created from the default....all existing profiles will not have the LED's activated. Regards

I do understand what you are writing, but still it completely escapes me X-plane recognises the different profiles that I created or that were created by others. When I open up X-planes joystick settings menu, there only seems to be the default honeycomb profile and none of the other profiles that were created in Honeywell configuration tool. I think we talking different issues. How do the AFC_Bridge bindings find their way into X-Plane? I think I am either missing a step or something is not working the way it is supposed to.

@@MisiekBaer these are two separate issues. If you create a specific profile in the config tool you need to activate it in the config tool to push it into Xplane. Once in Xplane you can save this under another name for future use in Xplane. The other way/alternative is to use the default honeycomb profile that you initially activated as the basic building template to build new profiles for each aircraft or for each generic type of aircraft. Hope I have answered your question ....if not let me know. Regards

@@SimHangerFS I think I am beginning to see light at the end of the tunnel. Part of the confusion came from the fact that the configurator inititially did not work for me and I am still unable to import profiles. My take-away for building my own profiles is to activate the profile in the configurator and then x-plane can find these settings if a profile of the same a/c model is being configured in joystick settings. My second biggest take-away is that the aircraft specific data refs which must be addressed in the honeycomb profile will then also be recognised by the joystick settings for that a/c type. Honeycomb generic settings may or may not work for the various aircraft types in X-Plane and this goes mostly for the switches not the axis. Another caution is to be aware that not all downloadable Aerosoft profiles will work in the configurator.

Has anyone figured out how to change the annunciators to work with the Zibo? I tried to bind a dataref so that when the CMD A is engaged, the AP light turns on but that didn't work.

I installed the drivers for XP11 and FSXSE. I have two XP11 installations, and only one of them got the proper driver install; ie, the second one (11.51) does not have the illustration of the Bravo in settings, although it does seem to work with it. This appears to be related to the lack of the bridge plugin in the 11.51 install, whereas it appears in the 11.50 basic install. I have tried to install it again, to no avail. Using the correct path. Any idea what went wrong?

Hello, I think the installer looks to a specific directory for Xplane. Not sure if it will install to two separate Xplane installs. Check the notes below my video....there is an explanation there that may help. Regards

@@SimHangerFS Multiple installs of XPlane are typical, particularly for those of us who play with the betas. Right now I am keeping the 11.50 because one of my add-ons likes it better than 11.51. As I said, it seems to work OK except that the nice picture of the unit with the numbers is not there. Can I merely copy the bridge plugin over to the second install?

Since update to the Honeycomb software the instructions in this video don't work anymore. LED's not working and there is a plugin now installed that change things when you load into the game for the first time.

I picked this up today and I am woefully out of my depth. I understand in principle that the configurator is used to set the device up with the various datarefs and commands in Xplane, but am I supposed to map anything in X-plane itself?

Yes, most functions can be mapped directly in Xplane. You need this config for those functions not using the default assignments.

@@richardsoucy3082 , manually check the location of your x-plane.exe file and note the path exactly. Then go to your x-plane_install_11.txt file per the instructions. Make a copy of the file. Then open the original file and delete all entries, and enter the full path as per above. Your path points to the directory where the Xplane exe file is located so don’t add the x-plane. exe to the path. Hope this helps. Regards

I would like to use the full axis for speedbrake , flaps, etc. Meaning that instead of the "button" at the bottom of the axis, I would like it continue as an axis. Is this possible? And if so, how do I do it? I am using X-Plane 11 on Windows 10, if that helps.

I am trying to setup the Honeycomb bravo throttle quad for the Xplane HotStart TBM900 with a turboprop engine and latest lever control system. This aircraft has a single throttle that integrates the condition lever with the normal throttle and an auto prop adjustment for 2K rpm. I have tried to use the Xplane settings to assign a mixture and throttle to two axes as a way to bring the throttle up to low idle and then to. high idle. The throttle axis also was set to have beta and reverse thrust. Unfortunately there is no response for the initial movement of throttle to low or high idle. Appreciate any guidance for setting up a turboprop with the Honeycomb bravo in Xplane.

Hi Mark, Thank you for your videos, I am experiencing issue with config Cessna 172 useing Honeycomb throttle. Throttle and Mix shows on xplane when moving however I don't get full throttle or mix and image jumps around on xplane image. Do you have a suggestion on how to fix. It seam as if I have a conflict on those 2 controls. I have made all other levers (do Nothing) I have tried throttle, throttle 1 and so on. Throttle is the only one that moves on screen of Xplane, but jumps around and doe's not give me full power. Any Suggestions would be great.

Hi Todd, sounds like you need to calibrate your controller in windows first, then in Xplane. Try that first. Regards

Still no luck with getting the Throttle and mix working. It only gets to 50% then has conflict. Looking at other forums, it looks like a lot of people have same problems. I think they need to update Honeycomb with new drivers for X-plane.

Hello, trust your keeping safe. No I have not received it, HP offered me the headset without the controllers just over a week ago, but I turned this down as it is not what I (pre)paid for. HP have not provided me with a firm delivery date and to be honest I am about to cancel my order before Xmas at this rate. MSFS VR comes out on 22nd Dec and if I am happy with the G1 I will definitely cancel. Reagrds

The Zibo mod uses none default bindings. So default doesn’t work. I have the same problem.

The default configuration is copied across to the default USER PROFILE in Xplane. If it hasn’t copied across open the config program, load default profile for BTQ , close program and return to Xplane. Regards

Thanks Marc, I have this problem in understanding the BRAVO setup, using X-Plane 11.52 SE. I understand the idea is to build up the joystick setting for the BRAVO in X-Plane itself and then , for the complex things like LEDs and FCU, to continue the set-up in the Configurator. My question is: How does the Configurator see the profile as "done" in X-Plane/ Settings? (xxx.prf file type). The configurator seems only to create NEW files ( xxx.json file type, different location). Further, if I were to create a new profile from scratch in the Configurator, how to get it imported in X-Plane as a joystick setting?? I am sure you can give me the click I need ; thanks

Hello, you need to start with the configurator, take the default and activate this. This will load this profile into Xplane with the led’s etc pre-configured. Using this new profile build new profiles for your aircraft saving with different names. The config profile will be carried across. If you need to change anything in the configurator then save that as a different name in the configuration program and activate. This will load the changed profile into XP. Now build new profiles based on that. I recommend deleting all ‘’old’’ profiles for safety. Hope this helps.

As a test, in the Configurator, I created a new profile based on the default, renamed it "TEST", then I loaded profile "TEST" and could recognize it in the screen as "current". Then I "Activated Current Profile", hoping that "TEST" would be carried across into XP and become visible. It is not visible in XP/Settings/active profile. As a secondary confusion, I don't understand how" with the led’s etc pre-configured" in your second sentence. Kindly help ! You may kick me instead of giving a click.

@@hendrikeveraert3534 when you activate your TEST profile in the configurator and load up Xplane there will be no TEST profile. This Test profile has overwritten the default USER PROFILE in Xplane. This now becomes your new building block for future profiles. I saved a copy of this USER PROFILE before doing any changes , I called it default honeycomb, so I can use it if I accidentally overwrite the default USER PROFILE. Hope that is clear. 👍

@@SimHangerFS many many thanks, my mental roadblock is removed. The process flow is now clear. I have experimented by installing the "Heading Bug" (the two rotary buttons left and right) and it works fine. TO MY (pleasant?) SURPRISE it affects ALL Xplane joystick profiles (previously created)... So I guess the Configurator is acting at the BRAVO driver level...? It is a shame there is no proper manual explaining the processes and the variables structure.

Hi Dennis, yes there is. Go to Honeycomb Aeronautical website, on first page scroll down to vey bottom and click on downloads link. Scroll down once on the downloads link and you will see the config download for P3D. Download zip file. Unzip and install. This will put an icon to the configurator on your desktop. Double click the icon and your away. Regards

Hi, the Zibo does not use default Xplane settings for some of the functions. That is why your having problems. Sorry I have not done a separate config for the Zibo.

this doesn't work with the ini A300 or the FF767 but the gear lights work so... I guess that's cool but you can't control the AP

Yeah same boat with the FF767. The FCU doesn't work- I can program the individual autopilot buttons but without FCU functionality it's pointless. I wonder if the configurator requires new commands... I suppose it's an FF compatibility issue because the autopilot is 100% functional (including the FCU) in the Airfoil Labs King Air 350.

Hi Michael, you would need access to the specific commands for those functions by the developer, they have used their own set of parameters rather than the default. I would hope many will release config files for the Bravo or like Captain Sim share their commands. Aerosoft have just released files for the PMDG 747 and 737 (P3D).

I had the same issue when I got mine. I opened a ticket with Honeycomb and the discovered the issue. The issue is when the user transfere the XPq1 to another drive the Honeycomb SW won’t see or deduct where the XP is instslled. To fix this goto to the following path: C:\Users\*your username*\AppData\Local\x-plane_install_11.txt And delete all the old XP paths and keep the current XP path only, be carfull don’t delete the current path of your current XP drive path.

It is for the ANTI ICE led. 6 buttons are working (pilot,windshied,eng air inlet, wing)The problem is with the stab button for the ANTI ICE led. I have the command but not the value.
