On the final play of the third quarter, a fight breaks out on the field between Mississippi State and Ole Miss. Referees give every player on both teams a personal foul, then eject multiple players as a result. With time still left on the clock, Mississippi State players rushed to the Golden Egg Trophy in their 35-3 victory in the Egg Bowl.

Like most such rivalries, it is contested at the end of the regular season, in this case during the Thanksgiving weekendand has been played on Thanksgiving 23 times, including from 1998-2003 and in 2013, 2017 and 2018 (and again in 2019).
