Ilha do Guajiru in the Ceará region of Brazil is heaven for any passionate kitesurfer. Are you crazy about kite, freestyle, butter-flat water or maybe just enjoy to do some freeride in a big spot with plenty of space? Ilha do Guajirú is definitely a spot you should consider.
Based on our experience there, we made this review to cover the 9 key aspects of the spot: Location, tide, beaches, wind, water conditions, temperature, infrastructure, downwinders and nightlife.

Wear some kind of booties, even if its like 1.5mm neoprene. I cut my feet several times and was nursing those cutes for two weeks while we toured the coast but honestly... it is a magical place. And night life.... dude I was smashed from kiting my ass off. I wanted to sleep. It was AWESOME.

What a fantastic review: clear, concise and allows both realistic and practical planning! If you can advise on kite schools or businesses that teach kiting (and not just Brazil) with video analysis and other solid tools, that would be incredible!

We plan to visit and kite in Cumbuco, Icaraizinho, Ilha do Guajiru, Pre, Jeri, Barra Grande and Atins. Not sure if we will really stop by all the spots yet. Definitely also interested in exploring the south of France since based in Switzerland.

Hola, es agua de mar, asi que el nivel del agua depende de la marea. Queda poca agua cuando la marea está muy baja (ese depende del estación del año)

Wear booties on the mud beaches at low tide! My husband cut his foot on a shell there. Some of the mud entered the wound, and he ended up in hospital on a drip as the infection spread through his body very rapidly. It was VERY serious. The mud is deep (up to to the knee) in places. I disagree regarding the comment below. Sure, name check places to stay, it if you add prices, then the videos won’t remain current. You could price bracket the places... ie £, ££, £££, ££££

Sorry to hear about your husband. Hope he is ok currently. Now that you mention it, one of us did also get their foot cut in the mud, although no complications, thankfully. Good tip to wear booties, thanks! Indeed, we aim to give long lasting info on the spot and also remain objective. Nonetheless we will try to include more info that kitesurfers look for.
