Maybe Terry Gilliam didn't get Oscar that year , but who cares , ''Brazil” is much bigger than the Oscar and the other movie awards , it's a masterpiece and one of the best movies ever and Michael Kamen's soundtrack is absolutely perfect for this movie , thanks for this post Soundtrack Fred
Jonathan Pryce too, should've at least been nominated for an Oscar for his performance in the film. His performance was funny, heartfelt, goofy, and sincere all at once.
it's a gem of a film one of my favorites that could only have been made with such a brilliant soundtrack. Dare i say the soundtrack actually shadows the film.
One of my favourites....everything seemed to come together....cast, story, filming, weirdness, music......magical in the way 'The Third Man's will always be.....very few and far between made so off beat but brilliant these days....but there are some....pity its gone so formulaic these days...underestimating the audience maybe???....Tracy
If it weren't for this soundtrack Brazil might not have ended up being my favorite film of all time. Currently working out Aquarela do Brazil on Violin and gypsy jazz guitar. Any other musicians out there looking for tips on learning an instrument, have a go at something you'll never get tired of hearing.
I attended a concert in which Michael Kamen conducted his film music. I kid you not, as he was conducting his theme to Brazil his conductor's score accordioned off his stand onto the floor. He was as surprised as anyone. RIP Harry Tuttle.
In 1985 Terry Gilliam's "Brazil" left people splitted. Either they loved it or they hated it, maybe because of the dozens of fantasy-elements and partially sheer crassness. However, what we have here is Michael Kamen's great supporting score, based on Ary Barroso's popular song "Aquarela do Brazil". I highly recommend you the movie, if you didn't saw it, yet. Until then... enjoy!
Thanks for this video. All time favorite movie of mine. Saw an ad for a screen you can use to magnify your phone and thought of this movie. Movie ahead of its time
TFL (Transport For London) just used the Brazil intro music for a "Welcome to London" advert. Not sure if they we drawing parallels between modern day London and the movie, or whether they are simply clueless. Perhaps both. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8PyA4qwC2gc.html
A Film that a young Orson Wells, in 1985 might have made; seems, but for the difference of the Song-Montra--''Brazil'', little philosophical or moral difference between "Adjustment Bureau'' and "Brazil"--can't escape the Powers-that-be so organized Insanity is just another word when you've got nothing else to loose..
ARGENTINA MADE BOSSA NOVA AND EVERYTHING THE BRAISILIANS CLAIM! GREETINGS MY FELLOW ARGENTINIAN MY GRANDPA WENT THERE IN 1945 AND I AM PROUD! HOWEVER MY DAD CAME BACK TO GERMANY BUT ARGENTINA IS A GREAT COUNTRY NOW EVEN MORE AS MILEI WILL WIN ELECTIONS AND YOU WILL BRING THE 1930'S BACK! GERMANY SHOULD LEARN FROM YOU!!!!
I was watching this movie for the first time last week and kept hearing a tune I knew over and over again. Figured out the the tune I recognized was "Open up your door" by Richard Hawley ......does anyone know if he's acknowledged the influence?
Dazla Darren Actually the reoccurring tune heard throughout the movie is based on the song Aquarela do Brasil, or just Brazil as its known in Britian. I can understand why you might confuse it with Open up your door, it does sound similar in places.
