BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) -Brazos County Commissioners met on Tuesday to address several matters, including the recent controversy involving District Clerk Gabriel Garcia.
Garcia and his ex-girlfriend, a former employee of the clerk’s office, were both arrested on assault charges after an altercation outside Garcia’s home two weekends ago. The charges were later dropped by the county attorney due to “insufficient evidence.”
During the meeting, commissioners entered an executive session to discuss Garcia’s role as district clerk. However, the county’s general counsel stated that the discussions would not be made public and that no action was taken.
When questioned about the county’s policy on personal relationships in the workplace, officials indicated that while there is a nepotism policy for relatives by blood or marriage, there is no specific guideline for dating relationships.
