I can’t sleep tonight so I’ve been passing the time with old Tom Brier videos. It’s bittersweet

At 6:56 when he plays the last notes his eyes open real wide as if blown himself away with his own playing! Please get well Tom!

If anyone has never heard Tom play a slow tune, it's probably because most of the time it is only the fast pieces that get videotaped and posted to RU-vid! Thanks, Carl, for posting this excellent piece from 2001.

Tom's slow pieces have always been my favourite, but this one has to take the cake. I seriously can't put into words how beautiful this piece is. It will be a good day when I can finally play this in full.

Tom is a Genius! We should be able to find his cd's in any store by now! The world needs more soul filled music like his!

Tom hits another home run with this composition. Probably my favorite one as of now! I also like how the stained glass windows are reflecting on the shine of the wood.

Tom is one of my absolute favorite players....hope to see him play live one day. I would travel from Fla to Calif. just to hear him.

Breadline Blues is one of Tom's best compositions. Unlike most of his performances, I think the studio recording of the piece in "Constellations" is actually better. It's quite a bit slower (at a total duration of 7:52 as compared to this 6:59 performance), and Tom puts more emphasis on the bit at 5:22 in the studio version.

@topliner1916 You are probably correct. But I have listened LIVE to MANY SETS and after hours, of Tom the past 10 yrs, and I believe it was probably 4 years before i even heard him play slow. I went outside once and my wife said, "You missed a very beautiful slow tune by TOM." :-) Majority of what he played was up tempo. Now he plays MORE meduim and slower tempo tunes. He is in a different place now. Audiences like his breakneck style too. You are welcome and thanks for commenting. VBR

@sutterchip It is a nice composition CHip but NOT new. As Topliner notes below, a co-writer with TOM of a number of tunes, it was written in 2001. I have never heard it before.....Great tune. Thanks CHip. VBR
