I did during the rise cycle. Only problem with that is after taking the dough out and putting it back in, it didnt rise as much. I immediately made another loaf and left it in there, it rose up so much more without fiddling with the dough and paddle.
Thanks for this! Very helpful in determining if this is the type that will work best for us. Do you know if you can use sourdough starter when making bread in this (or any) bread maker? I'm pretty new to the world of baking bread and have finally "mastered" sourdough starters. I struggle making consistent, quality loaves so I'd love to use a bread maker but don't want to sacrifice the benefits of the starter.
You can make sourdough in a breadmaker, but you'd have to shut off the breadmaker to allow for the longer rise times. So let the dough mix, turn off the breadmaker, allow for first rise. Punch down the dough, allow for second rise. Then turn the machine on to a bake-only cycle. It can be finicky, which is why most people do not use a breadmaker to bake sourdough (though you can use it to mix the dough if you like).
