The middle gap is not for microcontrollers. I mean, you can put those there, but the gap is actually designed to house dual in-line package (DIP) ICs.

No, the central row IS NOT for micro-controlers. You can use it with micro-controlers (boards), but the pins are usually a bit thick for the holes. This breadboard concept was designed more than 40 years ago, well before we had those micro-controler boards, to put DIL integrated circuits (ICs).

Well Robonyx, my Arduino power supply module means in the case that I try shorting the two rails together so I try placing a jumper from the left sides positive to left side negative that it turns off
