Hi I’m Rick Shiels, welcome to my channel RickShielsPGAGolf. This RU-vid channel is designed to help you play better golf, also to help you enjoy your golf more!
I specialise in golf club reviews, golf club unboxing, golf club news, golf club head to heads, and all about golf clubs.
I also want to make you play better golf by providing coaching video on all topics about golf, how to fix your slice, fix your hook, help you drive the golf ball longer, hit your irons more pure, hit your irons closer to the hole and help you draw and fade your golf shots.
I will also help you lower your score by chipping better by stopping you duff and thin chips, pitch the ball closer and also create backspin. Also I will provide you help to putt better and hole more putts!
On this channel I also make fun and entertaining golf content based on crazy and sometimes “gimmicky” golf clubs. I like to cut through the marketing hype about products and I like to give you the honest truth about golf equipment.
If you enjoy the channel make sure you hit subscribe and also tap the notification bell so that you are always notified when I release a new video.

Just wanna give you a hug Rick. As tough as it might’ve felt on the course filming this, I gotta say the value this is to so many of us watching is huge. It’s not always rosey, it’s a tough old game and that’s ok. We all have them - some more than others (me) but it’s the response to it that’s more important! I would suggest that rather than having golf lessons, Rick looks towards a sports psychologist. Over the last few Break 75 videos, there have been a high number of "sighs" and "arghs" after hitting shots and missing putts. Rick obviously has the talent and skill to hit under 75 as we've all seen before, but it would appear that his own head gets in the way of his game - as it does with us all! Good luck Rick and come back stronger in the Spring

These videos of Rick struggling are probably the most useful to us regular/beginner golfers. I have been working really hard to improve my game and I have noticed a lot of improvement, but then yesterday I really struggled on a course that is definitely too difficult for my "beginner" skill set. I knew this going in, but the round still had me down in the dumps. Seeing this video today, of a PGA professional also struggling, needing to make changes to his game and finding it hard for those changes to show on the course, just lifted my spirits and is giving me so much hope and determination to keep trying. Thank you, Rick. These videos are gold to so many of us and if your goal is to help normal and beginner golfers, then you are 100% doing that here.

Honestly, I was thinking the exact same thing... It almost feels like he's trying to hit a shot NOT to miss, rather than just hitting the shot he wants to (if that makes sense). Kinda getting in his own head without trying to, or "gripping the stick too tight" as we'd say in hockey when a guy is trying to get off a goal scoring slump. I feel like he just needs to relax a bit and just go hit the shot, nothing more. Just let it ride, so to speak, and see if things change up a bit.

Frustrating is an understatement. Some keyboard pros may talk shit about your game but for guys like myself, your openness really helps. Obviously our goals aren't nearly the same, but it's nice to see you challenging yourself and persisting through the rough. Keep chugging along! I haven't watched these in a while, but going through my own swing change torture i thought I'd give it a go and loved it! That swing on the 3rd par three was pure, controlled and class! Given I havent seen the swing in a while you can see the difference 🤟

These episodes are great, as it's just fun watching a full round and following a player around a whole course. The only way to watch golf imo.

Love this series! I'm at Breaking 85 right now so really enjoying you speaking about your thoughts before shots. Very helpful! You've inspired me to worry more about my putting hahahaha

I love the fact you’re so honest about your game. I’ve only been playing about 4 years now after a long time off my natural shot was a draw and after watching you and wanting to get better I played with my swing and I now hit a fade and can’t draw to save my life. But, I’ll never stop playing or watching you. Side note I was shooting in high 90s this year you’ve got me in the 80s. Thanks Rick

Love this series, and it's another great video. We can feel your pain as it starts to slip away so quickly. This shows just how cold and unforgiving golf can be when you're trying to keep the score low.

This is why I love the break 75 series. Rick shows us everything, the good the not so good and the ugly. Keeping it honest and real way to go Rick. 👍🇨🇦🍺

This is a solid reminder that building a shot at the driving range doesn't automatically translate to the course. It's one thing to hit a shot off a level patch of ground in ideal or almost ideal conditions...it's another when the slope may have you higher or lower than the ball, when there are visible obstacles and distractions downrange, and when the object is no longer just hitting this specific style of shot, but trying to string a sequence is shots together to reach a specific objective. Keep at it, Rick! Your double-double start is the way the majority of my golfing goes, seeing you push it aside and score par on the next few holes is great inspiration. And it was also comforting, in a way, to see that I'm not the only one who has "meltdown holes", where enough goes wrong that you end up +4 or worse on the hole. For years, I could practically bank on one for every nine holes I played (so if I played the full 18, I would have at least two, and sometimes three). I consider it a major breakthrough that I've been able to cut it down to one on a full 18. I did notice, though...Rick, you spend a LOT of time talking about how bad this shot was or how bad the hole was or how bad the round is. That feeds on itself, in my experience...the more you dwell on stuff going wrong, the more goes wrong. And that mental aspect of the game is probably the hardest thing for people to get a handle on, and probably one of the biggest differences between casual golfers who have an occasional good round and golfers who are consistently good. Give yourself some recognition for what worked the way you intended and the holes where you did well. Positive thinking may not make you a better golfer...but it can certainly help prevent you from making yourself worse.

Thanks for this video! This is pretty much the way my season went this year. Mostly pars, with a few bad holes mixed in to raise my score. Almost the exact same kind of misses like the first two holes! Love the 75 series, love watching the vlogs and seeing how swings really are a work in progress!

Some of these shots it shows you still have great ability. Golf is such a mental game as much as a technical game. You beat yourself up on the course and put so much pressure on yourself which in turn effects your game. Work on your mental positive outlook at much as your technical. Keep up the great work, everyone will be routing for you.

Rick Iv'e come back to golf after a lot of years not playing. I was a very active (sort of older guy) up until June this year when out of the blue I suffered a heart attack at home. I was lucky to have been rushed into hospital and a stent fitted within 2 hours of the attack. I have again found the love of golf having asked my consultant what would be the best form sport to do during my recovery and cardiac rehab. I used to be a single handicap player many years ago but prob playing to about 28 at the moment . Ive been watching your vids since playing again and find them honest, informative but most of all truthful. You will find your form again and you will get back. I for one will be following you come back and wishing you the very best and am there with you every step of the way. You need the support of your followers just as much as we all need that little push and luck to get us to were we want to be. Good luck. By the way I've never felt better since my attack than when Im out on the golf course, playing good or even bad shots :-)

It's great to see you put this out for us all to see, very realistic and honest. A very good player at my club said to me recently that more important than any lessons and techniques is to go out, relax and enjoy the game then the good scores will happen! Easy to say, perhaps more difficult to achieve in a lot of circumstances.

I suffered watching this video, despite the difficulties and frustration you showed us, how to keep your mind focused on the game, and also in my opinion how anxiety is our worst enemy in the course. Thanks for this video, you will break the 75 soon again, just keep calm and relax enjoying the game. Best Wishes
