@sammyssb The way the red spot works is when the pan is placed on a hot stove the Thermo Spot will heat up changing to a bright solid red. You don’t have to worry about the red spot scraping off either. It’s a part of the non-stick coating applied during production.

jack people prefer waffles becuase they prefer their texture. it's crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. pancakes however just becomes all mushy when you add the maple syrup ... I personally don't like pancakes at all. I try to avoid it lol

@TheBlondeDude1 Here is the answer via WikiAnswers: In the UK, flapjacks are made out of sugar butter oats honey etc, and pancakes are batter things that you fry. In the US, the words flapjacks and pancakes are used interchangeably to refer to the same thing. The pancakes may have other ingredients in them, such as oats, honey, etc., but we still call them either pancakes or flapjacks.

@WilliamAdolfsson whip them a little bit more and maybe add milk instead of water to the mixture. Don't knock the bubbles out like I did and that will give them more lift.

When I was on my exchange in the US, my host father made the best French toast. He'd use the apple strudel bread you can get at costco (a quick Google search could get some recipes for it as well). The French toast turned out really sweet and gooey. Definitely recommended for French toast.

@JustNess78 It was more about tips on cooking french toast and pancakes. When to flip. Why I don't recommend waffles. Air bubbles in the pancakes can be tapped out. I wasn't trying to show you how to make home made french toast. These are just tips I was taught when I was growing up. the hardest thing about pancakes is when to flip. Sorry you felt ripped off. My bad.

@jakatak69 I'm so glad you pointed that out, Jack. Air bubbles = fluffy pancakes! Also, you don't want to overbeat your mixture. It's okay if it doesn't look perfectly smooth. The more you mix it, the tougher the pancakes will be. So, to recap....air bubbles = fluffy pancakes and perfectly smooth batter = tough pancakes. lol

I ran out of room to comment! I also recommend adding a little vanilla extract. (A little goes a very long way). Pancakes and waffles can have fruit (not dehydrated, must be defrosted) of any kind in small slices/cubes. I have added a little bit of cocoa powder and chocolate chips to both pancakes and waffles, obviously not healthy but a nice treat anyways. Other recommends: Apples, banana, blueberries, raspberries, strawberries -- anything that sounds good.

YES I KNOW THIS IS 4.5 YEARS AGO Waffles are so much easier, if you get a good waffle maker. I love my Wafflebaker from Black and Decker. And you say it only does waffles? Well what about scrambled eggs in the shape of waffles? Make the eggs, then the waffles, and then OH YEAH THE BACON IN A WAFFLE MAKER. But hey, that's cool. You can continue to live your flat one-dimensional life. I'm going to have my waffles here in 3D land.

You can make your own buttermilk. Just take say 1 cup of milk and add 1 tablespoon of vinegar and let it sit for a few minutes. Half a cup would be half a tablespoon and so on and so on.

My French toast recipe: 1/4 cup flour 1 cup milk 2 eggs 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon 1 teaspoon vanilla 1 Tablespoon sugar This recipe makes them crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, my whole family loves when I make them! I hope you try this sometime, thank me later! :-)
@sjweese

@jakatak69 I think BlueBajs is saying that just because the recipes are similar doesn't make them the same. It's in the way the batter is cooked that yields a different product. You wouldn't say spongecake and pound cake are completely the same because they are made with the exact same ingredients would you?

Do the center of your French toast, come out wet and soggy? Mines always comes out like that, and it's gross, it tastes nothing like the ones I get at a local Restaurant, and I was wondering if I'm doing something wrong?

I have made homemade pancakes from scratch and honestly they are not as good as Hungry Jack/Bisquik etc premade mixes. Homemade ones are fluffier, thicker, and much more flavorful, even if they take a bit more time. Other than that, I love the breakfast of champions vids you've been doing. Keep it up!

@masterbrown2002 the honest truth was they were all frost burnt and nasty looking from my freezer. There was only one worth showing on camera. They rest I tossed in the sink. That's my trash during filming. Then I clean it out and toss it outside. It works for me. LOL

lol you're french toast is totally different from how im use too... you should use a flat griddle, you can fit 4-8 pieces of french toast on it(: (less egg, more milk and cinnamon, and top with a sprinkle of cinnamon too, trust me, its awesome;)

Waffles are very easy to make. Never get a new waffle iron if you don't have the money to spend! Go to the thrift store and pick one out. Make sure it is nonstick, and that the griddle can detatch from the unit for easy cleaning. Always use lubricant (butter, spray, both..) .. why would you add sugar to the waffle mix? I highly recommend Krustez Pancake Mix. Pancake batter should be slightly lumpy, now completely stirred. As the pancake begins to stop developing bubbles, it's time to peak.
