I'd like to see a follow up, or spin off show, about Iva, Sam, Lizzie and her boyfriend /husband and son. It would be wonderful, to know how they are doing.

So creepy I can’t believe Sam stayed with her after what she did.

Iva's boyfriend, even though he appears to speak Pennsylvania Dutch/German, does not appear to be Amish, judging by his hair style (very short hair/crew cut, & no hat) & clothes (he is wearing jeans without suspenders & not the usual style of Amish shirt). Perhaps he is former/ex-Amish, but if this is the case, would it not be highly unusual for a currently "practising" Amish girl to have a former/ex-Amish boyfriend? Also, this girl, Iva looks like the same "Iva" who was the girlfriend of Jeremiah, one of main Amish boys in the previous/earlier series of "Breaking Amish". How can this be? These Amish girls certainly appear to get around a lot...

geitmetsik I understand that the language many Amish speak is actually called "Pennsylvania Dutch" (the name given by the Amish themselves to the language they speak), even though it's probably not quite the same as proper "Dutch" - though I suspect there may be some similarities. As someone who speaks German, I also picked up a few words which were similar to German words, though again, the language is not quite the same as proper German. Several European languages such as German, Dutch, most of the Scandinavian languages, & Afrikaans (which is derived from Dutch), fall under the general linguistic category of "Germanic" languages - so while each is a distinct language within itself - there will be some similarities amongst all these languages. One thing I did notice though, was that their "accent" did not sound very Germanic, or European - it just sounded like they were speaking a foreign language with an American accent - which made me wonder whether they really do speak "Pennsylvania Dutch" at home with their families, or whether it was all just a "show" for the cameras.

+janburn007 As someone who speaks German and English. It pretty much sounds like a dialect, something you would find in the villages.

It's definitely not Scandinavian.

janburn007 It's German but not Standard German. It's closely related to Pältzisch, the Palatine dialect.
