It was entertaining! I thought you guys got it when Eladio paused to make Gus drink first, you even said he doesn’t trust Gus, so figured that suggested he thought it could be poisoned. I always thought the capsule Gus took was activated charcoal or something to slow the absorption of the poison because he knew he was going to have to drink. Trying to catch up before the finale!

Gus knew the Poison was in the drink, yet he knew he would have to drink it. Once they see Gus drink it first, they all thought it must be ok to drink. Yet Gus knew he had to get to a toilet and sick it up quickly, thats why he never let Jesse have any of the drink.

Plus he took an antidote (probably activated charcoal to absorb the poison) right before Don Eladio came out, while he was standing at the pool. But even after all that he still got sick, because he waited too long to puke it up.

Gus poisoned the bottle, earlier you see Gus taking some pills ( antidote) and he also vomited to get rid of more of the poison.

The two of you were talking for a minute & missed that Gus opened a little box & took a pill before they joined the cartel at the pool. The gift he gave the cartel was poisoned. That's why the head of the cartel waited for Gus to drink first to make sure it hadn't been poisoned.

It's understandably frustrating watching people get confused because they were talking over important scenes, in real life or a reaction video. I get some kinda people talk over movies/shows more than others, but these guys are talking over the show about something they missed, all because they were talking over the show in the first place. It's kinda funny... 🤣 (it's 100% possible to talk over a show and still take everything in, but some people don't always have the attention for that...)

the sniper guy, was essentially Don Eladio's cartel version of Mike. Mike is ex-law enforcement, and this dude just oozes ex-military/special ops from how he dresses and moves. Him and Mike didn't drink the shot because, traditionally these toasts are reserved for the Jefe's, Dons and maybe a special guest( in this case Jesse was offered). This is why Mike immediately went after sniperdude with the wire.

Gus had bad blood with the Don and Hector since the first time; not because they didn't want to go into the meth business, but because they "spanked" him for stepping out without permission by killing his partner. That was VERY personal. That's why he screws with Hector every chance he gets. And now he knew he was going to have to take out the Don or else he'd get cut out completely (one way or the other). They couldn't take Walter because they couldn't risk something going wrong or Walter causing problems. He obviously told Mike what he planned. They poisoned the tequila, but it would be too obvious if he didn't drink. That's why they made him drink first, assume my he wouldn't drink it if it was poisoned. That's also why Gus took the pills before and threw up after drinking it; it might make him sick but it wouldn't kill him. Gus is an ice cold savage

Y'all sometimes forget the backstory from previous episodes that feeds into actions in current episodes. In this case, you forgot that Gus was meeting with the same scumbags who killed his business partner years ago, in the same place. The wine incident was strategic but also straight revenge. Nothing is random or accidental in this crazy show.

I've had a time where I walked in on my dad in the same state, he had fallen off the wagon after many months of sobriety and he was in a terrible mental and physical state, talking in the same way Walt did. Gus took those pills at the start of the party at the pool. The bottle was OBVIOUSLY poisoned but Gus convinced them to drink it by also taking a shot himself. Gus also threw up in the bathroom (another HUGE CLUE). This helped him flush out some of the poison.

BJ...you are on point. While Walter was sitting in the backyard he looked over at the flowers like he had an idea. He needed a way to turn Jesse against Gustavo. Walt wanted to kill him but Jesse didn't really want to. Walt knew that making Jesse think Gus hurt the kid would do it.

Guys! It's not that complicated lol. Gus wanted revenge on the Eladio, the guy who killed his partner and friend (possibly romantic partner). He took the opportunity to do so when they wanted Jessie to be the "next cartel cook". He had the drink poisoned, but knew he had to drink it himself in order to get them to drink it. It was all planned.

@@treeless62 What? No it wasn't. What lead you to that inclusion? Please elaborate. I had to google this as I can't recall anything about him being hinted to as his brother. Even the wiki fandom says this: Maximino "Max" Arciniega was the business and romantic partner of Gustavo Fring and co-founder of the Los Pollos Hermanos franchise. He held advanced degrees in biochemistry and chemical engineering. Max's education was financed by Gus after Gus rescued him from the slums of Santiago. (I wasn't sure he was a romantic partner but they kind of eluded to it in the series). But yeah, please elaborate. I'm curious as to why you think that is.

Jesse and Walts relationship is so fascinating. They can both do and say awful shit to each other, plot against one another, try to one up the other, trick the other, but they both know.. deep down.. they have to keep that trust between them. Theres something in them telling them 'my partner is the only one that will die for me' and they are fiercely loyal to that. They have to be. They may hate each other at times, but they know deep down they're all they've got. How many times has walt or jesse had to say to someone "kill the other you lose me" Its crazy man. Love it.

Back in the day, the Cartel supplied all the drugs to distributors like Gustavo. Once Gustavo starting making his own superior product, he did not buy as much from the Cartel plus other distributors product was now inferior so the Cartel was not earning as much. The scene is payback for what Hector Salamanco did to Gus's freind (or lover). Gus poisened the tequila and threw up on purpose to hopefully lessen the effect of the poison. Jesse rises to the occasion saving them. The only thing that would have been better is while Jesse was shooting, for him to be yelling something like "Cmon you little bitches!" Yes its a flashback to the video game scene...

Gus and Max were cooking meth 20 years ago, and wanted to partner with the cartel. They gave some to cartel men as samples to give to the higher-ups, but the higher-ups took that as presumptive and insulting, and were also insulted that Gus and Max would even move drugs in their territory, even just to get them into cartel hands. They killed Max to make a point to Gus, the same way Gus killed his man to make a point to Jessie and Walter. It’s implied that Gus loved Max, more explicitly in Better Call Saul. He waited 20 years so that he could avenge Max with the poisoned tequila, which he took activated charcoal as an antidote for and then threw up for added measure, and establish his own drug empire with the cartel gone.

This episode exemplifies Walter and Jessie's ignorance of their entire situation. Throughout the show they make assumptions about Gus's motives and intentions, many of which are incorrect, and Gus sees them as children who have no understanding of his bigger picture concerns, and so he often treats them as such. And they basically act like children, without the experience and maturity to really make it in this business. Gus is the true G.

Gus brought the Cartel a poisoned bottle of boze in order to take them all out at once. He obviously took an antidote before hand, because he knew the guy wouldn't trust it unless Gus took a drink first. Then he tried throwing it up but some of it still got in his system, which is why he's in bad shape. It was a calculated risk he knew he needed to take in order to get rid of the Cartel. It shows how genius Gus really is.

In the 20 years since Hector shot Max on Eladio's orders, Gus eventually became a begrudging business partner with the cartel (given how profitable the meth trade turned out to be, they couldn't ignore it anymore) but, while he pretended to have made peace with them for the sake of business, he actually never stopped plotting his revenge. The first part of said revenge was seen back in season 3, when Gus pointed the Salamanca twins at Hank, then gave him an anonymous warning via phone. As a result, he could take advantage of the turmoil caused by the botched attempt on a DEA agent's life to arrange having a team of corrupt federales sent to assassinate Juan Bolsa (Eladio's other henchman, who was also there with Hector when Max got killed) and thus sever contacts with the cartel (and also get back at Hector by taunting him about the death of his nephews and his old colleague). Then the cartel tried to get back their share of his business by demanding the secret of the blue meth formula (sending men to intercept Gus's delivery trucks, then harassing him with sniper shots) and Gus took the opportunity of that meeting at Eladio's house to poison them all, his vengeance finally coming full circle (there's more about Hector and the Salamanca family, but all in due time to avoid spoilers).

I think you're actually supposed to keep the tip of the knife on the cutting board, then chop the food with the base of the knife closer to your hand.

Gus’ product was so good the Cartel knew it was gonna make Gus more rich and powerful than they were comfortable with. So ultimately Walt was the one calling the shots.

Gus' relationship with the cartel was the same as his relationship with Walter. They had him work for them against his will but they didn't trust him, same as him not trusting Walter and not letting him get close tohim anymore. So The one moment Gus had to get close to the Don he took his shot and killed him and his gang same as Walter looking to get one chance with Gus and kill him

Gus knew the only way to end this cartel war is to cut off the head of the snake and the only way to get that close to him was to have Jesse do well and be accepted. Gus was able to kill two birds with one stone, get revenge for the killing of his first cook and eliminate the competition. IMO

yea i was never taught to chop like that to easy for your finger to slide off, your supposed to have your index and thumb on the side of the blade and the rest of your hand on the handle. literally my first day, first thing i went to do was chop some veggies with my hand like that and the head chef was like nah buddy your gonna hurt yourself cutting like that and he showed me the proper way.

Gus took an antidote pill prior to Don coming out then they all drank the poison. Gus threw up but he is still affected by the poison. You both missed gus taking a pill.
