There are programs for cops going through PTSD and things like that. But what Hank was saying about “kissing your career goodbye” is that you can been seen as unstable or unreliable and get laid off as a result of opening up.
@dlweiss
@dlweiss 5 месяцев назад
Or at the very least, if you're not laid off you could find that you don't get offered promotions or other opportunities, because coworkers perceive you as being "unable to handle the pressure" etc. Because remember, Hank's whole workplace and profession is FILLED with guys who were raised with the same unhealthy brand of "masculine" ethos regarding emotions, trauma, and seeking help.
@Mantis_Toboggan_MD.
@Mantis_Toboggan_MD. 5 месяцев назад
@@dlweiss Well it's not just that. If something is wrong and you are genuinely not ok etc.... Then are you really fit to be in a job that may require the use of firearms ? So that is what Hank is worried about. If he admits he's not ok (and let's face it, he's clearly not ok) then he may be "Signed off" "medically retired" or whatever the correct phrase is. Hank doesn't want to go down that road even though it's probably the road he should go down in all honesty
@dlweiss
@dlweiss 5 месяцев назад
@@Mantis_Toboggan_MD. True. But now all those guys who aren't okay don't have the chance to heal up and get back to being fit for their job. The whole point of going to therapy and talking to someone is to *treat and improve* whatever issues you might be struggling with, right? So by creating a workplace culture where everyone says "you have to *always* be okay and *never* need help" they're basically creating a BIGGER problem, because you have cops running around with major mental/emotional issues who aren't seeking treatment or improvement at ALL. It'd be like having an office culture where you're forced to hobble around on broken legs and pretend you're fine, instead of saying "I broke my leg, I need a cast, pain meds, and crutches."

¡Hola! I am sure many of you already know this, but in spanish single L and double L, "LL" don't have the same sound. So, for example "polo" and "pollo" don't sound equal, neither mean the same. I say this because George said "polos", but is "pollos". "Polo" means "pole", like in "the north pole" == "El polo norte", or "el polo positivo y el polo negativo" == "The positive pole and the negative pole" "Pollo" means "chicken", so "los pollos hermanos" == "The chicken brothers", or "pollo con arroz" == "chicken with rice". Pollo sound like , polo sounds like that sport with horses . More examples: Here in Spain there is and island called "Mallorca" (Ma-yor-ca), not "Malorca". "Horse" is "caballo" (sounds like ), not "cabalo". "Paella" (), famous meal from here, is NOT "paela" 😀

The whiteness or yellowness of butter is caused by the cow's breed and diet. The most common dairy cows in the U.S. are Holsteins which tend to produce whiter butter. They're also not generally grass-fed (which would darken the yellow), so your typical butter in the U.S. is fairly white. This is especially when compared with margarine, which has a coloring added to it to make it look more like traditional, grass-fed-cow butter.

About the butter: Cow's butter is yellow because of a chemical their body produces when they eat grass. Butter made from winter milk (when the cows were being fed grain) or other mammals like goats will be white. Most producers will dye their butter yellow so that it has a consistent colour year round, but some dont. Even most goats butter is dyed yellow because that is the colour people expect, but it is naturally white.

Since you started watching this I've been waiting for that scene with Walt and Jane, it's harrowing. It absolutely defines Walter as a character and Cranston as an actor

I understand Simone's take on The Wire and the reason we all felt that way is that that show is incredibly realistic to the t, it feels real because it is the closest we can get to those situations without actually being in those situations.

Good job Simone! I've watched so many reactors to this show, and they never seem to pick up on the significance of Jane's dad's job until the crash actually happens. (Frankly, I expected George to predict it instantly.)

Butter from grain fed (aka less healthy) cows is much lighter in color than butter from grass fed. The same is true for eggs. The yolk is more yellow from grain fed, confined chickens, whereas pasture raised chicken eggs have a deeper orange color.

Didn't think I'd be writing a comment about human gestation periods... but here I go. It's long been thought that humans give birth to, comparatively speaking, underdeveloped young because of the fact that we walk upright. To maintain upright, bipedal ambulation (walking) the hips have to be narrower to support the weight going straight down onto our legs, and there's more weight put on just two limbs - instead of it being spread over four. That, and the pelvis size being smaller means a baby's head can only be so big before it's simply too large to pass through the space in the pelvis. If we gestated to a point where a newborn could start to walk on the same day, the gestation period would be much longer (like 21 months-ish) and the baby would be much larger. All that being said, newer thinking and research suggest that we haven't adapted to giving birth at an earlier state when compared to other apes (chimpanzees and gorillas, for example) who have very similar gestation periods to humans. It's also thought that the ability to give nutritional support to a baby whilst pregnant has a cut-off point. Once that ability to pass nutrients and support a baby inside you hits that cut-off point, the baby has to be born no matter what. I could have written a lot more, but I glanced at the sizable chunk of text I'd already written and... thought it best to stop. Just thought it might be interesting if you ever wondered why we give birth to completely helpless babies compared to the rest of the animal kingdom which births live young. It wasn't necessarily an evolutionary solution to walking upright and having narrower hips/smaller pelvis size... but then again, that could have some impact on it. Still not absolutely set in stone, but this is a brief look at what the general thinking on it is so far.

It's been a while since I watched the entire series, but one thing I absolutely remember about it is, whether it's an episode with a lot of comedy in it, or a totally grim episode (like the last one in this reaction video), this show was always completely riveting.

I love the Mike character so much. And the story behind his casting makes it even better. Saul was originally supposed to come over to clean up the scene but Bob Odenkirk had a scheduling conflict. Vince Gilligan was a fan of a cop show Jonathan Banks was on (i'm blanking on the name at the moment) and this small bit role evolved into one of the best characters in two of the best series ever aired.

John de Lancie does a brilliant job as Jane's dad. As much as I love him as Q, it's great to see him flex his dramatic muscles in this. Apropos Q - when George says "I love seeing competent people doing things competently", I really wonder why he never got into Star Trek. It's basically competency porn.

My wife and I have consistently been referring to Giancarlo Esposito as “The Chicken Man” ever since we watched this show 😂
@PiroMunkie
@PiroMunkie 5 месяцев назад
I'm probably paraphrasing a little bit, but Gustavo Fring wasn't intended to be such a major character in the show, but the actor who plays him, Giancarlo Esposito, made an intentional choice to play him as though he had a secret. The writers/directors loved the idea so much that they made him a much more significant character than he was ever meant to be.

I think it's the hallmark of a great writing team to leave a bit of imagination to the actors, but then build on what they specifically brought to the performance. There are so many "mistakes" they ended up making the show so rich and well-rounded

Good edit you two! One of the best parts of watching the show Better Call Saul is remembering and picking up all of the references and Easter eggs from BrBa. Seriously, I highly highly recommend you follow this immediately with watching BCS. Imho, it’s a vastly superior and more entertaining show that you’ll certainly enjoy given how many more competent people do competent things in it. It’s just nothing short of brilliance in writing.
