This song is basically about a person who has lost all faith in his life and has already realised the harsh truths of life. If we really go line by line then we might just deviate from the actual meaning of the song because Breaking Benjamin do not really rely heavily on lyrics. It's the mood of the song and the way Ben puts forward his voice, that makes them such a special band. Coming back to this song, it's pretty easy to guess that this is probably a person crying out to so called "God" and asking him for all the injustice that was served. The album Phobia was basically an album which was written about Ben's different kinds of phobias. Death is one of the many fears which Ben has and this song is probably asking out to God to help him survive all throughout his life. As I already mentioned, it's really not necessary for a band to write interpretable lyrics and so let's all have our own personal views on this song.
i once sang this song at a hockey camp and it was amazing. Everybody was like, woah, what is this? i screamed and yelled and it was shocking to all of them. I was told afterwards i have the voice of an angel. i just thought, am i an evil angel?
