Almost 11 years later, this song still holds up pretty well. The lyrics I stand by to this very day. One day, I will see them live again if they ever come back to my town.
“I will shut the world away” It hits me hard because I’ve dealt with pushing people away, trying to battle my mental illnesses on my own, I can’t do it, I need help.. If any of you read this, I’m asking you, if you need help, don’t push it away, don’t run away from your problems, follow your soul with courage, I’m stuck in the bed every day because of how bad I’ve gotten, don’t become me, and get help when needed.
I don't know you but if things are legitimate don't mind the morons that judge over what games people play and make assumptions over what games people play.
I think this song sends a godd message that no matter how badly life hits you ,no matter how hard its tries to make you bow, never bow..always get back up and fight until the end.
That's right man everyone's lives get bad at some point everyone has at least one problem in there lives but its always your choice to either give up or you can stand and absorb the pain use it to make you stronger then always remember there is someone worse off then you are!
grizzly bear: a Oath is for life unless relieved of those duties& responsibilities.its gonna end up making ya feel like ya live in exile in ur own nation, but the brothers u get make up for it.blessings
I can imagine this song playing over a slow motion battle scene directly after a scene where the protagonist was about to give up but decided to continue fighting
There’s a scene just like this at the beginning of my book, where my protagonist is fighting the devil and is on the verge of death but looks within himself to find the strength to continue the fight and win . . . barely.
OOOHHHRRRAAAHHH....personally had Bad Actor neighbors PUT me in a bad frightened place......But ...I am WORTHY to Wield the PEN of EARL Rogers....and This PEN makes Mjolinir look like a squirt gun... ROGLMAO... Old Man advice....LEAVE crazy old men Alone...
I'm 26 and I can't believe how many hard times this song has pulled me out of... Over 13 years of pain that this song has helped me remember to keep fighting through. It makes me so emotional now, there's so much pain and history behind it but it reminds me to keep going. I think it's the only song to have such a large emotional impact throughout most of my life, and I don't think it will ever stop. I can't explain how it makes me feel, understood for sure but so much more than that. I'm not a BB fan, but this song. This song alone was enough for me to buy tickets to see them at the Filmore Auditorium. Worth it. Hearing it live was amazing.
I love Breaking Benjamin, but their videos always have the most cancerous comment sections. Most of the time, it's 90% angsty 12 year old emos saying things like "omg this song describes my life Im so edgy and depressed" and 10% trolls saying things like "this band sux go listen to some real music like Justin Bieber swagyolo".
Music is so powerful. No matter the ailment in which one suffers...there is music to help us glide through. Or stumble. Or crawl through.. and that my friends is powerful. If you reading this you will see better days. Darkness can’t last forever. Eventually the sun will rise, as will you. Stay strong. You got this- you are a BADASS that has lived through SOO much all ready. Don’t let the world attempt to break you..for the whole world is broken. The people that break us the most are amongst the most broken. People who tear and rip and destroy are empty inside. It is not you. It is them. Your flame burns bright within..so please don’t let another sim that light. You are a good person-
Thank you!! I hate pop so much. Which makes for a hard time at school, since I'm twelve. Everyone else is like "ALL ABOUT THAT F*CKING BASS" I hate Meghan Trainor. This is real music.
Brightscales Two words, Fucking idiots. They pretty much rule the media. I'll admit some pop songs are good. But most of the pop made today is complete garbage. Gone are the days where you buy a album because you love every song on it, where artists put emotion in their music, and when people knew good from bad. Now it's all pretty much about sex, drugs, or some bullshit.
I have to listen to a pop station in my car. Some songs are so bad I change it to 80's on 8 for peets sake! I'm ten, and Lunar Tomboy, I agree. I hate Meghan Trainor too.
"I have lost the will to change" I was 15 when I first heard this song. Having grew up in disastrous household, this was the only part of the song I didn't agree with, and spent the next decade and a half doing everything to "undo" the damages and "change" everything about myself (in addition to not bowing down, giving up, and shutting the world away). Fast forward to this day, I'm now a 30 y/o normal adult living a normal life; a blessing on its own. But deep down, this line came into full circle: I finally came into terms that I may not ever change - and that's a massive burden off my shoulder.
me and my mom sing this song in the car together c: also i had the channel on the car radio changed to a rock station then plugged my ipod in,we start singing the ipod disconnected and low and behold the song was playing, same verse, same fucking word as soon as it disconnected it kept playing at the same part.how friggin cool
nope it was pluged in cause when the ipod disconnected the radio turned on and the song being displayed changed from ipod breaking Benjamin, I will not bow to octane breaking Benjamin I will not bow
hello person scrolling through the comment section!! i know you are. just take a second to read this please. I know you are going through a hard time, i can see it. But you are amazing, you made it this far, and you WILL make it even farther. I am 16, but when i was 10 i never seen myself living past 14. I still dont see myself past 25 at most, but i am pushing myself. you have people in your life who are there for you, and if you stop here that will only hurt them the most, I love you guys, i dont know you, but still. *screen hug*
Hunny you got this no matter what I been I'm still where you are. It's something we have to push though. But you are stronger then you think keep rocking on with love
Thank you, I really needed this, I've been in a really bad place lately, a lot has happened that put a lot of pressure and stress on me, and, like you, I'm surprised that I made it to 19
I'm not surprised I'm still listening to this song in 2017. I'm not a big fan of Breaking Benjamin but I am, however, a fan of this song. My favorite part is when he sings~ "I have lost the will to change." "Now the dark begins to rise." "I will shut the world away."
Alexander The Great It actually it the opposite! It global warming has top stories in the science category said it themselves. Sure it may of debunked by others because they are two side of whether people said it is or not. Which is a thing. It happening faster than we think. And in a former term it’s the same things but global warming is different due to us humans revolution the Mother Earth itself.
Alexander The Great look who talking. I reply first until you saw my comment. So you should walk away because your trying to start trouble to the point where it pointless. Now sir if you excuse me i have better things to do that starting up a idiotic pointless argument with someone who doesn’t understand the thought process.
I can personally relate to this song, only because I've been interpreting it as either someone suffering from depression or bipolar disorder. In the chorus, the lines "I will not bow, I will not break, I will shut the world away" Is like saying that the person will not give in to the depression (or any other mental illness now that I think about it), and they will continue to fight despite societies lack of respect and caring towards people who go through things that cause them to have mental illnesses, or are simply born with them. The line "now the dark is taking over" sort of reminds me of depression, mainly because it's like you're actually being taken over by darkness. Seriously, it's like the dark is closing in and the light can't seem to find it's way into view. Anyways, the line "All is lost again, but I'm not giving in" is like something horrible happening while your depressed, like relapsing back into self-harm or something, but not allowing yourself to pull the trigger. All-in-all, that's just why I relate to the song.
+AssassinHobbits Interesting interpretation of the meaning behind the lyrics. Now that i listen to it from that perspective it does sound a lot like someone battling depression or bipolar disorder.
+xRenamix Luciel +xRenamix Luciel No, I'm a teenager not only going through angst, but the battle with serious mental problems as well as the tendency to be self-loathing. I don't associate every band with suicide, depression, etc. but I do associate some songs with that topic. Perhaps it's because it helps me cope with traumatic past experiences, or the fact wanting to slit my wrists every morning is a scary thing. Either way, I'm not just some "edgy, angsty teenager" that "associates every band they listen to with depression and suicide".
+AssassinHobbits hey, good on you for standing up for yourself! I wish more people would look past the "LOL what an edgelord" / "you just want attention" way of thinking. some of us really do have mental issues and are suffering. for me, I like to listen to this stuff because I can somewhat relate; it makes me feel like maybe I'm not alone in my depression. I'm not trying to be some angsty teen, and I don't want to be seen as one. we didn't ask for this. we aren't trying to be "edgy," we're just looking for something to help us get through the darker times. now, I'm not saying this applies to EVERYONE who listens to this type of music, of course; I just want to make it clear to people that we're not all the same...
Honestly That time in 2009 i was like 8 and damn i liked the song from that time now all the songs in this year all about Hookers ,Sex, Money ,Weed And other shit Like come on look at "Time Of Dying" By TDG's their Music Was Popular In some Communities There's alot of good Artists Who actually made sense And BB Shows it man God I wish more music was more about postitive things like their is few songs that even i can remember Anyways Thats all i gotta say
I remember this song back in 2016 when I was college student. I was deeply in Anxiety and Depression. This song is one of the music I've listen to, it motivates me to never give up on anything! Now I'm happy and blessed 😁😊
*2018?* *Like if you're a human / robot / animal / alien / any other living organism* Edit: Robots are considered living, look at Sophia The Robot.....
Still Love this song: I will not bow I will not break I will shut the world away I will not fall I will not fade I will take your breath away This is inspiring to me and definitely on replay!!
I just heard this song today! It came on one of my stations for Amazon music. I'm absolutely blown away. This song is amazing. I've always loved Breaking Benjamin ever since I heard the diary of Jane. This song is next level
This was the 1st Breaking Benjamin song RU-vid suggested for me when I was like 13. I'm now 18 and have listened to every single one of their songs with my one year old. We both love them 😍
This is a truly amazing song! I have felt a connection to this for years. But I did not understand what it was really saying until this morning. Wow this guy lived this!
