BREAKING BROLY'S DAMAGE BARRIER: 100% Solo Damage & Combo Guide - DragonBall FighterZ

I thought we were talking about that Broly was weak yesterday, are we changing our minds today internet?

Basically Broly flexes on you in the corner till your health bar drops to zero

Literally the last character I'd expect to be really technical.

All it took was one japanese guy to reveal that 100% combo with no assist and no sparking to shut everyone up about him being weak. Even Max saw his Twitter video.

I WANT TO SET THE RECORD STRAIGHT ON SOMETHING: Broly's difference in damage from 5LL starter is NOT A GLITCH. It's because of how his mediums work. Normally in this game, mediums don't add additional scaling to the combo besides the standard -10% per button. Knowing this, and the fact that all Medium normals do 700 damage base, the string 2M > 5M should do 700 > 630. The second hit of everyone's autocombo is EFFECTIVELY A MEDIUM, which means that it also doesn't add additional scaling if you whiffed the first hit. Meaning 5LL > 5M > 2M SHOULD do 700 > 630 > 560, a 10% reduction at each step. But how does it work on Broly? Well if you do 2M > 5M, it does 700 > 560. What does this mean? It means *BROLY'S MEDIUMS SCALE LIKE LIGHTS SPECIFICALLY WHEN YOU START A COMBO WITH THEM.* This is a big deal, and it's one of the main reasons his damage is so low. Imagine if you had to start all your optimal stuff with Light scaling right at the start. This is more than likely to offset the absolutely enormous damage of his specials, as well as the fact that his Mediums are armored and can start combos much more frequently than other characters. But what does this have to do with 5LL? Well that's the thing. The second hit of Broly's autocombo DOES NOT HAVE THIS ADDITIONAL SCALING, which means the sequence 5LL > 5M > 2M *will still do* 700 > 630 > 560. THAT, and THAT alone is why specifically on Broly the difference in damage is THIS dramatic. It's not a bug. It's not a glitch. Yes other characters can start combos with the 2nd hit of their autocombo and net insane damage as a result. No, this is NOT NEARLY as dramatic as the difference with Broly. Max I know you don't mean to say stuff like that, but please at least try to figure out the why before you default to a particular solution. This has never been a bug. It's just a matter of scaling. Remember that 5LL is a medium. Therefore with any other character, starting a combo with 5LL is effectively starting your combo with *a third medium.* That's where the extra damage comes from. On Broly however, every single button he has besides 5H and 2H will scale like a light. Therefore for the purposes of scaling, 5LL is Broly's only button that will unlock the full damage of the combo and save his smash for his special moves This is ALSO why combos that start with jH seem to do the same damage if not more than combos that start with 2M > 5M. It's because they have the same scaling modifier, but jH is more damaging out the gate.

His standing H and special should be used more the keep up the hit stun. Here's a combo I discovered, S for standing. Use vegeta assist/ bardock assist just to experiment Corner S.LLMM, QCF.SP, dash S.LHSP, QCB.L with Vegeta assist, S.HSP QCF.L with bardock assist, QCF.L, LVL. 1 super. Note that a vanish or a super dash air combo hasn't been used, a lot can be discovered. He might lose his smash due to a early special move, but the Heavy attack still adds a lot of hit stun

Theres a couple comments saying something like this, but this isnt a glitch but a aspect on how there damage scaling goes why this is, is a couple reasons 1: from what i can tell its going on how blazblue central fiction scaling currently is where each hit after the first hit largely effects how much damage the combo will, the stronger then first hit is makes it harder to combo out of. 2: this set up chains as many large damaging moves it can as early as it can so it doesnt face damage scaling reduction by a butt tone, the final hit thats a lvl 1 super still gets dmg decreased down 820 when it normaly does over 2k raw.

man, i heard max first a few years ago and seeing this video reminds me of my first impression of him again "Man, this guy really sounds like Goku"

Spent hours fighting against a friend who started to main Broly. I lost....a lot....and every time I found an opening in the Broly wall combo my friend would just find away around it. Of the several dozen matches we had I only won once, and no matter how much I improved in a little time he'd just do the same. Now he's out there, still using Broly, now wise to several of the weaknesses I'd tried to exploit....I crafted a monster, and I'm sorry for unleashing him into the world.

Wow I was actually learning something like that on my own, well the startup with his fireball but dayumn I didn't know that about his lvl 3. This game is life

Nice to know that Broly has that untapped potential that could still make him a possible tourney character. Cant wait to see what other DLC fighters we’ll get soon.

Thanks for this video Max. I've been labbing with Broly a bit today and didn't get to too crazy of damage. But you've got some pretty cool setups and combos in here man. I definitely see a dozen thigns in here that I want to try putting into my lab practice. Keep on doin good vids man.

Aw dang Max didnt mention the new tech discovered this morning with the infinite corner Dragon Rush switching, basically killing a character and getting free damage on a 2nd character depending on how long the loop went.

My childhood memories of Broly is him pinning everyone to walls and making those circle impact effects so I guess his gameplay favoring the corner(wall) makes a bit of sense.

Broly and bardock are an extremely good start for dlc characters in dragon ball fighterz. Even has me hyped for the base goku and vegeta characters that will most likely be coming out

Having fun learning Broly. Don't know what everybody was freaking out about. You want damage then you gotta work for it. He's worth putting time into. I gotta try this combo Max. My God!

It's been discovered that broly has a throw loop that's unreactable for some of the roster. On top of that, he has armor on: 236S, j.5M, his command grabs, his rushing you into the corner moves, 2H, 5H, his level 1 special, 2M, anddd I think that's it? So yeah, he's got armored attacks in areas where most fighters wouldn't put armor. I think people, even now, are underestimating his ability to get the hit and translate it into a combo. Even more, his corner game is ridiculous.

Yeah people have been saying Broly is low tier. I do not think that is the case at all. He's very strong. People just need to learn how to use his square auto combo correctly. Then he'll do alright online. He's also got some crazy jump combos when you soft launch your opponent in the air. Another thing is that after the auto combo is finished you can follow it up with an immediate shield. This makes you beam and projectile assist proof. So if you are going up against someone who only knows how to open you up with assists. Or tries to bait you then hit you with a beam/projectile assist. This is a direct counter to it. They also need to figure out how to combo into his level 3 properly. Most people do not know that you can follow up with a level 3 after Broly auto combo is finished and miss out on a lot of damage. There are other combos for the level 3 as well. But if you want your opponent to miss out on 60-70% of their health and you are confident enough to land at least one auto combo it shouldn't be taken for granted. You would think that figuring out how to get good damage with the level 3 would be the top priority of any Broly player but from what I've seen it isn't.

Back in the dsy. Never like broly but one of my friends push me to like broly now is broly in the new dlc and i start to enjoy his combos and attacks

Broly actually can't do this anymore after the recent patch FYI.

Broly in this game reminds me of a cross between Hulk and Juggernaut especially when he rushes at you or takes your attacks full-on and still walks up to you with no fear right before he face-plants you unconscious into the floor.

Also his Down med combo is amazing...

I love it, i don't play broly but i think it's an awesome combo and not broken imo. you have to be in the corner and you have to miss the 1st auto combo hit, you need fitting assists and 7 bars so i think it's 100% fine. Broly having corner pressure just fits him super good.

So, the reign of terror of Android 16 is about to end and the Broly Nightmare is about to start.

So basically have Vegeta as an assist.

I still think Broly will need some tweeks (a damage-buff hopefully), but it is good to know that he does that something that makes him stand out.

Broly seems like he'd pair nicely with efficient characters who have stronger Level 1s and who'd naturally allow him to get all the meter he needs to just eviscerate someone in the corner.

BUT THAT'S SO DUMB!!!" Everyone else was posting TFS so I felt like posting some too. :3 Anyways, the only drawback I can see to this combo is that on top of the positional setup you also have to have a full 7 bars.

it's not that much of a significant difference but if you add up to 4 ki blasts after 5M, it makes it easier to connect into 5H. His special causes them to fall slightly hence the easy part.

being someone who was having issues getting a legit team setup going i could never settle on a 2nd or 3rd fighter..played broly..BAM 2nd one added he's so fun from the get go this rly helped start breaking him in for me..tho my assists arnt that great for his combos there more slow..but eh workable

Even if they do not correct this "glitch" Broly is a one trick that people are going to find easy to dance around. If they do get around to making changes I'd hope they could give him a bit more health to offset the damage lost.

Do you think that the concept of having a really easy to pick up character (bardock) and a more complex character (broly) will be their dlc strategy moving forward? If that is the case, then I can see Zamasu, 17 and vase Goku being more technical while Vegito, Vegeta and Cooler being more "basic" to use.

Called it, I was more excited for Broly from the start anyways. Yeah he's not the only character with a 100% combo and his combos are a lot harder than most characters but put in the time and effort and it'll pay off. Alternatively play with Super Saiyan Vegeta in the back, his assist makes Broly a little busted.

I do the combo exactly as listed 100% going by visual and the inputs on the left, and the most damage i can get is 9988, what am I missing? my hits and damage are the exact same until the dragon rush after the 2nd level 3. ugh.
