'Breaking' Director Explains Why Veterans' Struggles Are Personal 

It took my husband over 30 years to get his 100% that he should had when he got out of the army-besides many injuries he had from Serving our country he has a TBI and has 2 kinds of seizures daily getting a job and holding one was impossible-if he told employers he had seizures they wouldn’t hire him- if he did not tell them he got let go the minute they found out-while homeless he would go to the va for help but all he got was list of homeless shelters and soup kitchens-the government makes the VETERANS BEG over and over and hope they will give up-this why we have so many homeless veterans-even now after my husband got his 100% they still make him beg-having the 100% did not change that at all-shame on our country

As an Army vet myself this hit hard and was close to home. I got screwed over as well and it hurts and it feels hopeless.

If he isn’t Denzel Washington in the making then I don’t know what to say💯💯

Instead of sending Billions and Billions of dollars to Ukraine maybe that should be directed to Veterans…

It would be great if some of the TV shows and movies stopped glamorising violence and instead start helping the veterans to settle back into the civilian life.

I can empathize. I have had trouble accessing mental health services when I needed them - not service related for me - but there was no help, even though at the time, I had some money. But I had to jump through a ton of hoops, and because my problem is severe ADD and depression sometimes - I can't do that well. I was shocked to find that there is not a single psychiatrist or psychologist in private practice within 200 miles of me.

Veterans should not have any troubles.

My son is forever changed from his accident in Afghanistan when his Convoy was ripped apart by an IED and his friend got his legs blown off. He did get the GI bill for college though. And VA disability.

It’s the actors that make a movie great, combined with a great script, for the production and directors. All in this together.

The words "VETERAN" & "HOMELESS" together should be an OXYMORON!!!!

This was tough to watch. But necessary. We can do better at taking care of each other. Taking care of those who have served in our military. Can't really articulate the frustration I feel right now. Just that we need to do better.

Even though he was a veteran isn't an excuse for violence. I am one, violence isn't the solution don't justify violence like your trying to do now.

I saw that movie and was disgusted how he traumatized two working women trying to provide for their kids and yet this piece of garbage is the victim here.

There are no "failures" with the VA.... It is designed to fail. I.e. the persistent narrative lies about veterans being nothing but crazy from PTSD. The real trauma is not "Post" since the VA actively intentionally inflicts trauma upon virtually every veteran seeking help. Yelling at and even beating veterans seeking help is not uncommon. The VA has their own police force that trains tactics designed to attack individual veterans and serves no purposes of any security or law enforcement other than the abuses of veterans. The VA regularly threatens veterans and all their much needed benefits (which many are dependent upon) in order to force compliance to the system designed to abuse veterans and plunder social security instead.... The VA trains 40% of health Care professionals in the United States. This has been utilized in order to change the entire American healthcare system (lying about and legalizing opioids... 500,000 American citizens dead more incarcerated and costing American communities across the Nation more than 500 billion dollars in resources... But created wealth for billionaires like the sackler family) to serve the purposes of keeping all Americans sick by denying care and instead plunders for a substandard billionaire approved (Betsy DeVos etc) system that makes America's the least healthy people in the world for a country that claims to be the greatest in the world. This is all operating as designed..... Plundering Criminals have wormed their way into our government as exampled in the 2010 SCOTUS citizens united ruling and Republicans attacks against Americans having health Care, or even education. Republicans are not democracy friendly and do not care about Americans and America and democracy... Democrats are not much better but, at least they have not yet committed treason against American democracy.
