Here we go... Every RAM, Dodge and Jeep dealer is in danger of being shut down and the CEO doesn't seem to care. Over the last few years Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavaris has been making some terrible decisions.
RAM truck got rid of the Hemi V8 and replaced it with a turbo 6 cylinder. Dodge killed the Hellcat challenger and replaced it with trash that nobody likes or even asked for. And Jeep keeps raising prices despite lowest sales numbers in the car market today.
RAM, Dodge and Jeep are struggling to sell their vehicles.
And in today's video I'm going to show you exactly why that is happening.

Turbo charging and cheap engineering are a guaranteed recipe for engine failure constantly
@brightymcbrightface

There's a million pickups with a turbo six and they don't fail … but they have known design problems that continue after the warranty expires.
@100pyatt
@100pyatt 6 дней назад
@@brightymcbrightface 99% of all Semi trucks in USA have been Turbo I-6 for decades. These new cheaply designed gas turbo motors are the big problem. Toyota was seriously stupid they had the legendary 2JZ turbo I-6 they could've used but chose to build a ground up new V6 that turned out to be a bomb from using ways to cut cost in manufacturing that cost Toyota dearly. Another good example of a solid turbo gas engine is the DSM cars from the '90s. When they dropped the 4G63 motor they essentially ruined their cars.

There are lots of turbo diesel cummins out there with a million miles on them that would disagree.
@brightymcbrightface
@brightymcbrightface 5 дней назад
@@100pyatt I used to go dirt bike riding with a roadside service guy. He knew everything that he could fix on a Cummins on the side of the road. He saw me show up with the infamous Ford 6.0 turbodiesel and he laughed and said he'd tow me home. After a few years of riding and him seeing my truck show up every time, after 140k miles on the clock and zero breakdowns, we had learned that the 6.0 rewarded maintenance and was not designed for commercial operation. It suffers its reputation because Ford sold it as a heavy duty truck for tow trucks and vehicles overloaded, rid hard, put up wet. I now have a Ford PowerBoost (an Ecoboost with a very big electric starter motor … : ) and I know it has some basic design weaknesses that I'll have to look after. I agree that we see corporations like Toyota make inexcusably bad decisions when they have great powertrains and then they come out with something bad. RAM just quit the Hemi for example … one of their few star players and they retire it. I assume there's some product executive focused on his career and his next job, who decided supplier contracts or world markets emissions or production costs were more important than having a solid product and customers who want to buy their truck.

They're picking the bones clean so they can sell the brand as is because they know the Dodge name commands enough nostalgia in America to get the brand sold even without a balance sheet. Because they're destroying the Dodge brand during a general time of economic recession they can raid the company rest assured that when global markets eventually bounce back all ships will rise. Because all ships will rise anyone who wants to come around and make money in the automotive game can just buy the Dodge brand, and throw a random V8 into a body and make billions. This means the name and legend of Dodge will always be saleable. Because it will always be a saleable brand they can pay each other absorbent amounts. Well have a twin charged v8 by the mid 30s.

Chrysler in general over the last 2 decades have engineered great engines. The post Powertech engines are fairly stout with one exception. The eco-diesel. Chrysler also hasn't offered many powertrain options which is why the engines have performed well. From a simple design perspective, the hurricane should be reliable. It's an inline 6 which tend to be reliable with a lot of torque. It has twin turbos which again means more torque. The engine in this application is easily maintainable which is the most important aspect to a reliable engine. The only engineering issue to me is which side of the engine the exhaust comes out. I think this was the European influence as they prefer the exhaust on the left side of the vehicle. But V pattern engines will have an exhaust crossover so it shouldn't be a major issue. It does appear to have oiling concerns common with turbo engines. The real question is will the owners keep up with reliability. At its current pricing, it's doubtful a young person who lapses on maintenance will buy one of these.

Selling a "New" 2023 model which quite possibly could have actually come off the assembly line in late 2022 has to be a mess of problems for the future buyer. First off the depreciation on such a purchase would be impossible to figure out. Will an insurance company quote it as a New car? What about financing a new auto loan on a vehicle that is almost 2 years old? Finally cars are best when they get driven a bit at least once a week and probably at least 5,000 miles a year. God only knows what Gremlins await the buyer for it just sitting outside this long without having it move and having its fluids run through it.

@@URKlewless Not by lending institutions. A vehicle that is 18 months old from the previous model year is considered as a used vehicle. You won't receive the lower rate as a current model year car or truck. My uncle was the VP of a very large bank that provided funding for auto dealerships. As soon as the vehicle rolls off the delivery truck, they start paying monthly interest. No lender is going to lend funds on a non-current model year with preferred rates, knowing in the event of a default, they're going to take a beating at auction. Look at KBB or any other site for pricing and they don't care if it's a 2023 with zero miles, it's still the previous model year and you get smacked. Dealerships typically heavily discount the previous model year vehicles, they get the loan off their books. (the money they're paying the bank to have the vehicle on lot.) If you're willing to pay a higher interest rate, you better purchase GAP insurance to cover the devaluation in the event of the vehicle being totaled.

The FIRST issue is the bank will consider the "NEW" 2023 to be a USED car, so higher interest rate right off the bat. Plus all the other issues you mentioned.

@@Michael-pi8ps that's not the problem. No v8 can be compliant under current regulations. Ford and GM have tiny efficient engines in their line up that are offsetting their overall emissions allowing them to keep V8s as an option that they only pay a relatively small penalty for. Dodge, jeep, ram, Chrysler have no such tiny engines to offset their emissions so they were all paying massive fines to the government to stay in operation on top of buying massive amounts of carbon credits. If you look at Ford, GM, and Toyota all of their high volume vehicles are only available with their smallest most efficient engines to get their emissions as low as possible so that V8s can remain a luxury option on their high end vehicles.

In the past they would have gotten away with it because history has shown that car crazy Americans will pay anything for a new car. But in the highest inflationary time in history people can no longer over pay and nobody at Stellantis realized this! Do these car companies not have economist or at least consult them. On another note, car companies will never, never significantly lower their prices, it's not happened in over 100 years, it's not in their DNA. The only reason Dodge even exists as a brand is due to two things; loyal Ram owners, loyal Jeep owners. Stellantis abandoned both groups to attempt to woo customers that never purchased a Dodge product before. ...luxury car customers. Firstly, those brands have never been a luxury brand, and they do NOT have the reliability and quality expected and demanded by those customers nor is their service department what those customers expect. In this pursuit, they drove up prices FAR beyond what their establishment customers can (or want) to pay and to make things worse, after turning Ram and Jeep into failed luxury vehicles, they then lost those few luxury customers with poor reliability, parts availability and overall unacceptable quality issues. Now, they've lost their frufru customers AND their base customers. No one is buying their overpriced, unreliable vehicles. Bankruptcy is now all but certain.

Do the real math. 60% of the price of gasoline is Government tax, then deduct the fact the the ICE engine is around 40% efficient at best with that 60% going wasted as heat. Then do another calculation. For Stellantis to continue to sell overpriced ICE cars they need to spend tens of Millions to Hundreds of Millions to Tesla to buy regulatory credits to stay open as a company. Then you have another calculation to consider. A BYD gets 2 to 3 times the range for 1/3 the price to 1/6th the price of a Stellantis ICE vehicle. Then add this China is outselling us 5 to 1 in the Automotive market globally. They are building cars the World wants and building for Billions, as we try to sell our horse and buggies to a world of cars. Then we have 2 facts. No Human has ever invented an ICE engine of any kind that doesn't do 2 things, kill us, and poison us. Then consider the fact that the minimal requirement to build a vehicle and sell a vehicle will be that it must be ZERO emission, which no ICE engine can ever be if it burns fossil fuels. BYD will buy Stellantis for pennies on the dollar and turn it into a Domestic EV company to avoid the 100% terriff. Right now BYD and Tesla can buy the top 10 ICE car companies and decimate the entire ICE market. 99% of the people who follow the big oil delusion are basically lobsters in the pot gradually heating till they have no way to change the outcome.

I want a truck with a heater, A/C and power windows, windshield wipers and a standard transmission. I don't need an 8 speed transmission that shifts by itself. I can shift a standard quite nicely. If Dodge wants to sell me a new truck they're going to have to cut the price by about 40%. Better to make a small profit than have them sitting rusting in dealers lots. The ridiculous prices are killing the company and I'd bet Lee Iacocca would turn over in his grave if he knew what was happening to the company he rescued back in the 70's.
