Great stuff! One small but important detail is that Adam drops his underhook to a seatbelt and glues his head to opponent’s chest. The seatbelt secures the position in the event opponent tries to hip toss/uchi mata and, combined with head position, almost always ensures they go to their backs 💪 - Guru

Yes, 100%. That and his hips are much lower than the opponent’s so he can’t get lifted with their inside hip.

Doing so much in combination in such little time over a small amount of space. Incredible the elevation/leverage Saitiev created so quickly; chaotic looking but silky smooth.

Wow this is such a brilliant move. I love watching wrestlers that execute takedowns from the standing clinch position. It makes them look so dominant.

I've been using this in jiu jitsu and it literally feels like a cheat code with how many takedowns I get now. The only way I've been countered is, if they post their far hand early enough, before I can commit my hips into position to step behind their far leg to block, then they can hip bump me off to the side and make me fail the takedown. It's a scramble from there, but if I'm explosive enough then they're never able to hit that reaction in time.

Time for judo players to do what they do best: argue about what name a throw should have! I think a fair few of the examples you dupped tani otoshi were probably better thought of as ko soto gake hooking both legs because there was a lot more leg action than you usually see in tani otoshi. Tani otoshi is more about using a drop of your own centre of mass to throw the opponent than it is blocking the leg and driving them over it. Videos of Tokio Hirano demonstrating tani otoshi show zero contact between his and the opponent's legs. Fundamentally this doesn't change a thing about anything you talked about - everything applies and in the rough reality of actual competition the name of a throw doesn't matter so much as the result. I just enjoy playing into the judo stereotypes. Thanks for doing these vids- due to health reasons i can't even train any more so looking into analysis like this lets me keep the passion alive.

Any thoughts on the difference between going for the far or near leg? Near knee pull feels a bit safer in this move?
@DPSBreakdowns
@DPSBreakdowns 5 месяцев назад
In my experience the far leg is more difficult to grab due to the distance. The upside is that it tends to creates a better off-balancing effect because that far leg is then immobilized and unable to base out effectively. The opponent's positioning also matters. For instance if they are in a staggered stance and that far leg is their back leg it is even farther and reaching across that distance is more difficult and can also put you in a vulnerable position. Long arms and/or flexibility make the far leg grab more doable. The near leg grab is typically easier to obtain and connects nicely to a single leg.

Appears to be more of a Judo move(Kibisi Gaeshi) using a underhook than free style wrestling as most ankle picks are done with different setups.

Most upper body I think was integrated from Judo, at least anything effective.
@zenly_csgo
@zenly_csgo 5 месяцев назад
@@opaca512 most of it came from judo via sambo. That was the historical way of development of russian wrestling. Also many Russian sambo wrestlers were also russian freestyle wrestling competitors and champs

If the near leg stays planted and the offensive wrestler's weight comes crashing into the side of the knee aggressively, it can cause damage.

Definitely judo inspired. Old soviet had such judo influence .it even pernetrates freestyle wrestling
@DPSBreakdowns
@DPSBreakdowns 5 месяцев назад
Adam's style is very Judo-esque for sure. It is my understanding that neither he nor his brother Buvaisar ever trained in Judo formally. Instead it seems that their style of wrestling which included a lot of upper body throws & trips was influenced by Sambo, which was in turn heavily influenced by Judo.
@gogobabe3079
@gogobabe3079 4 месяца назад
@@DPSBreakdownsHis style may have been derived from folk wrestling in the old Soviet countries. which is an important ingredient in Sambo.
