Just because American wrestlers don't know how to use bodylocks and foot sweeps doesn't mean they're "judo" , LoL. American wrestling is just so much more simple and athletic based.

Yeah I always hated Judo, I thought it was too complicated where as wrestling is just go go go and violence of action but the older I get the more I appreciate the Russians approach to the sport and other grappling disciplines that are a bit more cerebral. There's a kinda viral video of Khabib, Cejudo, and a female gold medalist Judoka now in MMA where they are arguing wrestling vs Judo and you can tell the Russians have a crazy amount of respect for Judo. Seemed so stupid to me as a young man to learn this 16 step set up to hit this move that to me probably won't work when I can just blast double this guy or whatever but the older I get the more I understand and respect these other grappling disciplines and understand how if learned can apply to any grappling or combat sports.

@@kallepikku4991 Yeah I was exposed to Judo coming through wrestling and thought it was retarded lmao. I think that's wrong now but US wrestling enforces being really really good at a few things. Why are you learning that fancy BS when you can't finish a double leg? That's the mentality IME and it's not the worst way to think about grappling IMO. Why are you learning this 10 step foot sweep takedown when you can't even hit a double leg? I've learned to love the complexity of Judo and BJJ and being cerebral in grappling but it's not typically how I viewed grappling beforehand.

@@kallepikku4991my thoughts exactly, you see footsweeps in all types of primitive grappling arts but somehow ppl just classify it as “judo”. grappling is just grappling, what you do is just your style of grappling

@@kallepikku4991 I agree that those techniques are not exclusive for judo - lots of wrestlers from former USSR used them. But I disagree that American wrestling is simple - there are tons of details around "just simple" single leg or double leg. In addition some of American wrestlers used sweeps etc - watch Shultz brothers, Bruce Baumgartner, Randy Lewis etc etc. American wrestling, although physical, is also very technical in its own way.

Russian freestyle wrestling has a sambo influence which may explain his (& his brother's) proficiency in the upper body throws + foot sweeps. I haven't seen any info out there that suggests him or his brother formally trained in judo.

​@@DPSBreakdownsif he did sambo he definitely did judo(indirectly ). Sambo has all the judo moves even the ones banned in Olympics.

​@@dhimankalita1690 he didn't do any sambo or judo, he is pure freestyle wrestling in Russia freestyle wrestling has alot of trips and sweeps, upper and lower, its part of the curriculum that's it, his coach is dimitri the greatest coach in freestyle wrestling ever

@@dhimankalita1690 I agree with you. Judo players train in boxing because they think it helps them hand fight, so I wouldn't be surprised if Saitiev trained in Judo, cross-training is common in sport. His trips and throws are clean Judo style.

yes older have more hardware but Adam wrestled 84 to let his brother compete at his hatural weight 76 , their both weight 76. And he still won gold olimpic medai havein weight near 6-10 kilogramms les than rest

it is not judo it is wrestling but russian - yes it was influenced by judo but whole game without jacket is developed long ago

I don't believe Adam or is brother had any formal judo training. Russian freestyle wrestling is influenced by sambo which is a separate martial art with a blend of freestyle wrestling and judo.

He hasn't done judo ))) Those techniques are part of wrestling too. BTW, huge point that most people overlook is that to do those techniques without Gi is a totally different situation. Grips, setups etc are totally different. Try to take your average judo player to grappling match without Gi and very like he will not be able to do any of the stuff he has done in judo.

as far as you dont use judo grips - it is not judo these are wrestling grips and his is freestyle wrestling but from different part of the world - but I agree sambo ( Judo) had big impact on that wrestling school
