it won't, after Rivera did it, voters started talking to each other to make sure that never happens again. Jeter was Hall of Fame on and off the field, no PED accusations or anything, yet couldn't get unanimous.
Joining the dodgers last season rejuvenated him and he got that spark back for the best farewell tour in sports history. I love albert and am glad he spent one season in Dodger blue. He's the fucking man and am so glad he's finishing it off going for 700 in st. Louis
woah, woah. I still wear my 2009 All Star Game Pujols shirt, but David Ortiz put on a season long clinic for his final season. Please avoid discounting Papi's 2016.
"Ya, I'm nodding my head cuz I'm about to take ya deep." lollll I love these DeRosa gush sessions. What a great host. He played 3 months with Albert and he'll never forget it for the rest of his life.
I still wish Albert would come back next year. 700/700 HRs and 2Bs. In a class by himself. Strange old man I am. Lifelong Albert fan getting emotional watching this .
I understand your comments, THE BEST BASEBALL HITTER FOR SO LONG STRAIGHT, HE WENT OUT OF TOWN, AND U COULD SEE OUT OF TOWN DIDN'T TREAT, KNOW OR UNDERSTAND HE A KILLA, SO COMING HOME (ST.L) WE ALWAYS SEE HIM AND SEE KILLA.( COMFORTABLE, AT HOME WERE LOVE AT, AND STILL THAT KILLA. HIS HOME TOWN KNEW IT. STILL BEST HITTER IN BASEBALL NOW/THEN, WHEN IN THE CITY WHO LOVE, BELIEVE, RESPECT, AND HONOR HIM!!! (THANKS DODGERS FOR GIVING DA BEST EVER BACK)!!! SAINT LOUIS CARDINALS.... PERIOD!!! NOTHING AFTER PERIOD, LIKE THERE'S NOTHING AFTER PUJOLS IN A REDBIRD JERSEY!!! CARDINALS (WHAT)!!!!!!💯👍☝️🤷🤷🤷, BEST ALWAYS. STAND ON IT.....
Lifelong fan? God, you must have suffered, watching him turn into the literal worst player in baseball in 2017. 241/.286/.386 is a truly horrific line for a bad-fielding 1Bman. Negative 1.8 rWAR is a shocking number. He was overdue for retirement at the end of that season.
I JUST WATCHED the last inning of that "Lidge" game for about the 200th time!!! (Player of the game already announced as Berkmann...ha ha) It's one of my top 5 all time Pujols highlights AND HES DONE MORE IN WORLD SERIES GAMES WOOOOOOOW (meaning - that homer outranks WORLD SERIES MOMENTS for me)
Trout and Ohtani on the cardinals would be great for baseball. They have a great organization and some of the most loyal fans in the sport. I believe they would flourish even more in St. Louis
Honestly you are right...team....fans...chemistry...is a game changer. He probably feels more welcomed...relaxed and having fun. Plus he seems healthy!
Even a lot of us Cardinal fans were dismissing him initially; we figured he'd be here just for nostalgia and to sell tickets. Didn't think he'd do much to really contribute. Then the very first pitch he sees in the season ends up in the seats, lol.
@Michael Naes Oh, please. The only reason Albert had a job after age 36 was that the Angels couldn't face how they still owed an unproductive player 140 million dollars over the next 5 years. Albert: Worst Player in MLB in 2017. An astounding negative 1.8 WAR. If he'd had any dignity he would have negotiated a buyout and retirement.
@@johnstrawb3521 if anything you’re proving him right because he got back up on his old surgically repaired feet and gave Father Time another blow or two after taking some big shots, you’re right he sucked for 3~ years but guess what? He never quit on himself and now he’s chasing history.
@@johnstrawb3521 It’s not just Pujols though, lots of players decline by their mid-late 30’s. Just look at Miggy, who’s younger than Pujols and is in far worse shape, dude’s batting stats are non-existent. Despite years of decline, at least Pujols will be ending his career with a bang.
Thing is, Albert's numbers are still way, way down to what he was doing in St Louis prior to Anaheim. They've definitely decreased, and are about on par to what he did with the Dodgers last year with more plate appearances this year (that matters, because at bats don't count when you walk, get hit by the pitch, or sacrifice). He's not showing this sudden power surge, it's staying on par, just he only needed 21, and he's playing more now to try to get it, along with higher temperatures allowing balls to travel farther. If he reaches 700, he's not going to surpass it by much.
me, my brother and my dad took my 7 year old daughter out of school and made the 7 hr drive to stl for the Sept 15 game hoping to see phat albert do his thing. he almost pulled it off in the 9th but came up a little short, the atmosphere was electric for life long cardinals fans going to their first game. except my dad whose Last game was during the kc-stl world series in the 80s lol
703….703….and a World Series curtain call? Maybe, if my Mets done win I hope the Cardinals do. Honestly as long as any of the current division leaders win it I’m good, I like the dodgers and think they’re the best run organization in sports today.
As a Dodger fan I respect that. If the dodgers don't win it, I want the cardinals to win so pujols, molina and possibly wainwright can all go out on top before heading to Cooperstown and getting their numbers retired in St. Louis. Definitely a special season to be a cardinals fan and good for them they deserve it as some of if not the best fans in baseball. I love my dodgers but the game should always come before your team.
Thanks for all the well wishes from both of you. As a Cardinal fan, it’s been a great ride with these 3. This years playoffs will be special, Dodgers, Mets and Braves are all good so it’s going to be a very competitive one, weirdly I think of the 3 we play the Dodgers the best, might be the only team that feels that way against the Dodgers of course because they’re on pace for one of the best seasons ever.
So happy for Pujols that he is having a great end. The youth that only heard about his absolute dominance can now understand with their own eyes. And DeRosa is fabulous on commentary. I think he should control the remote on the monitor. They are too slow for where he wants to go with it. “We’re back at the hotel bar drinkin vodka sodas!”
Also, what is it about the LA Angels that sucks the talent out of great players? Trout would have 500 HRs and 115 WAR if he played anywhere else…Ohtani would win Cy young and MVP for the next ten years straight if he wasn’t out there. Rendon literally disappeared and Pujols would be chasing 800 right now if he hadn’t gone there.
Sounds to me the Angels needs to trade both Trout and Ohtani over to St. Louis then. They're both amazing talents but... Put them on a winning franchise, and you might see their true potential come out.
Alberto I only need one ticket can you help me out? Lmk Im ready. Ps Dont put me in the outfield you know peeps will go CRAZY..DUGOUT will ne fine .Batgirl lol xo StL has been Blessed
LOVE this....any baseball fan has to During the angels ... never would have imagined a dignified end to his career...where he is contributing in a major way. Against righties he's not doing great ...but against lefties he is MASHING He is the LEGITIMATE starter in a platoon....he will get post season starts No charity case.....let's all hope he gets 700
Ask if he's going to refund the angels. What a fraud and huge disappointment. As an Angels fan I cannot express the amount of anger and frustration with this man's performance
I decided it would be best for Mozeliak to continue starting him against mostly Lefties. I figured if he was also starting against Righties his struggles would bleed over to Lefties. My puny brain didn't consider his success against Lefties might bleed over to Righties.
AlbertThe Machine Pujols and Hammerin Hank Aaron Stand alone in baseball history. ONLY 2 players with 700 Hrs. 2000 plus RBIs and 3000 plus hits. We have witnessed baseball history.. Next to Stan the Man Musial Albert is the 2nd greatest player in Bseball history. The stats dont lie..
