@@garyglenn3654 You're wrong, and it's not even close. Pujols had an OBP of .374, a slugging percentage of .544, and an OPS+ of 145. Aaron had an OBP of .374, a slugging percentage of .555, and an OPS+ of 155. Ruth's numbers were .474, .690, and 206.
I feel the same way…those outfield box windows…the arches lit up at night.. But new Busch has finally grown on me…2006 World Series. Albert’s first tenure. Chris Carpenter. Waino’s career. Yadier’s rise to become the man. The World Series in 2011. The 2012-2015 years of Holiday, Marp, Beltran, Craig, Big City, Wong, Lance Lynn, Rosenthal.. The postseason moments at new Busch…2006 Clinching the title. 2011 Phillies Series. David Freese. Game 7 win in 2011. Waino’s complete game in 2013. The Dodgers series in 2013…Beltran’s walkoff, Marp’s triple off Kershaw, Game 7 beat down of Kershaw, and Craig’s obstruction walk-off in the series. Then…the Adams home run of Kershaw in 2014…the NLCS game with Oscar’s home run and then Wong’s walk-off. Yadi’s walk-off sac fly in 2019… It took time..but it’s finally grown on me as a special place. The house that Albert Built and Yadi protected. Where Waino shut it down.
@@alphacapo The new place is a glorified AAA stadium. It's just "meh." Busch II was definitely imperfect, but after they replaced the turf with grass and painted it ballpark green, it was beautiful. Miss that place.
So many memories of years when the Cardinals’ front office cared and consistently put contending/winning teams together and Busch would have a sell out crowd night after night, no matter what day of the week it was. Those were the days.

His home run swing from his First to his 701st have been such a thing of beauty....They don't call him the machine for nothing...4th place all time....13 home runs shy of Babe Ruth (Hopefully he hits a few more to narrow the gap.... Unfortunately not enough games for him to catch Babe Ruth though but a solid 4th....and 4th player to hit 700.... Hopefully he pulls a Tom Brady and decides to drop the news that he wants to play one more season next season....The fans would love to get an extra season of his home run swing....Along with 4th HR...He is second in Extra base hits, second in doubles, just a few RBI behind Babe Ruth for RBIs and the list goes on....Sac flies for one....
I found it interesting he hit most of his career homers vs Astros... Maybe a world series match-up if Cardinals keep playing hot and we can see Albert add to his postseason total? Needs 10 all time to become #1 alltime in postseason homers and I'd bet hit hit at least 3 postseason homers
I was thinking the same thing 🔥 been an Astros fan my life but after biggio Albert was my favorite player by far. I got a feeling that the cardinals can stay hot and pull off an upset in the postseason but the NL is tough right now
Todays game Ruth would be huffing and puffing pitches lol. He wouldn’t hit .215 gotta put ur old school bs to rest! Dudes the best hitter ever! The man would of had 1500 home runs if not more playing in the 1920s idgaf but ok stat sheets
Zero. After TLR retired and Albert(most likely due to his wife) went to Cali, Matheny rode the decaying coattails of TLR's lineup. 2013 we got close but ultimately didn't deserve it. Looking back, Boston NEEDED that WS title to boost morale after the Boston Marathon Bombing that very spring. We got lucky to win Game 3 on a walk-off obstruction call. Otherwise, Boston has ALWAYS owned us in the pitching department.
@@frederickglass1583 100 wins in 2015 wasn’t TLR coattails. But the question was how many WS could the Cardinals have won with Albert in the lineup after 2011. I’d say any season we made the playoffs would have been a strong possibility. Giants were crazy good during that stretch, but I think we would have won at least one or two between 2012-2016 with Albert. For the record, I think the Cardinals did the right thing to not sign him for 10 years. They made a reasonable offer, but Pujols wanted more.
He was already on the decline when they let him go. They were smart to do so. The Cards made the playoffs seven times after he left including a WS appearance in 2013. The Angels made the playoffs once in ten seasons (2014) with Fat Albert. The Angels basically outbid themselves to get him. That's why they're still a crap organization more than ten years later.
I would say the Cardinals probably were a better team without Pujols during his time is LA. I know that may sound outrageous, but Albert would have been a huge burden on the payroll which would have limited several options for us. I hate to say that but Cardinals did the right thing and they did the right thing bringing him back this year. It's been magical to watch.
He is literally tied for the second most. His company is Babe Ruth, Jimmie Fox, Stan the Man, Mickey Mantle, and Frank Robinson. Only player to have more than those guys is Jim Thome with 13. So Pujols could likely tie and maybe break the record by the end of the season. Unlikely but still possible.
I'm surprised he has that many, because considering how good of a hitter he was I just assumed teams wouldn't pitch to him with the game on the line. It's probably why Barry Bonds doesn't have a ton of walk-off home runs, because other teams didn't pitch to him in those situations.
