In part 1 of my conversation with Juraj Kralik we breakdown each free agent signings by the Dallas Stars on Monday. Juraj gives his thoughts on what many believe were questionable decisions by Jim Nill to sign both Matt Dumba and Ilya Lyubushkin. Joey shares his concerns and why he thinks the Stars have taken a step back since their season ended in the Western Conference final. To finish on the topic of Dumba and Lyubushkin, Joey and Juraj lay out the positives of the three defenseman which includes Brendan Smith. Nill is waiting for his Dman prospects to flower into top 4 men. There are enough quality guys coming thru that 2 will hit big. What is with the Sean Walker love?!?! he sucked in the playoffs

Stars didnt really get worse, they just didn't get better. But then they were already one of the best teams in the West. The question now becomes, what do they do at the deadline going into the playoffs. Find another Tanev from a team that's not going to make it? Maybe?

If you don’t Get better you Got Worse doing Nothing means Taking steps back only an idiot think repeating the same mistakes twice will give you different results. No cup last year and probably next year either. Stars are quitting I don’t want to see them win a cup until 2040.

They may have become a little faster and a little more physical on the back end. The calvary is coming next year for sure maybe even this year. I think that 2 out of Bichsel, Kyrou, Bertuuci or minnetian.

I'm thinking this team is pretty much equal to what we went into last season with. I like the fact that we got faster and more physical. I hated the Lyubushkin deal more than the Dumba deal due to the 3 year term.

Upset about the dumba contract, Lybushkin I wish was cheaper, and Smith I don't really mind it, I think he would be a good fit for Lindell. I'm assuming Harley is going to sign a 3X4-6mill contract and is playing with lybush. Dumba with Miro I think won't pan out how Nill is wanting it too. I'm extremely upset about the "experiment" of Lundkvist, he should've been traded with faksa and use the money to either replace Pavs or get a better Dman than Dumba.

I argue about this alot with people, but I really don't understand why people think we needed to "replace" Pavs with a FA add. Wyatt most likely takes over his 1st line spot to create Orion's Belt 2.0, and the effectiveness of that combo was dominating. Just go check Moneypuck if you don't believe me. Stank is technically added to the roster (because he didn't start there last year) which is an improvement over Dadonov on the 3rd line. Bourque also comes up and he's supposed to be a talent of the same quality as Wyatt and Stank. Then you technically replace a 4th liner with Dadonov...if everything works like it looks on paper, nothing will have been lost. That doesn't even take into account how giving Robo and Hintz a fully functioning partner should reinvigorate them. The top of the roster, at the worst, stayed the same while the bottom technically got stronger offensively. No need to go get another big forward, we're already stacked. Your other option is definitely the better one, I just don't think Nill was able to land one of the more expensive guys for the kind of term he was comfortable with handing out.

I maybe in the minority but I think Dumba signing is fine. Maybe a little high but not enough to worry about. He has had a couple down years but not horrible. He was with bad Minnesota and Arizona teams. If he can get back close to his old self its a good signing.

The best deals for Nill was the onea they ge didn't make. There will be some bad contracts in a few years

You can't compare players going to Edmonton to play with two of the top 4 players in the world with trying to get them to come to Dallas. Got to be realistic, which I'm sensing a lack of from this podcast. I'll trust that the two-time running GM of the year isn't getting nervous or panicking but doing the deals that are available that make the most sense. Sometimes you have to overpay a little or give an extra year to get the guy who would play elsewhere for even money.
