If only I could find a clean cobaltss with and lsj again, I'd jump in the platform again in a heartbeat. I beat so many cars back in 2007 when I got mine and went all out with the mods. Most fun car I've ever owned a pocket rocket and understatement. Awesome video.

Love the LSJ in my Ariel Atom2. Ive won a lot of first places and FTDs with them and help from ZZP! TVS with cams,ported,rods,10.5-1 compression all balanced by Lindskog. FLAT torque curve.

Appreciate the lsj content Was curious on supporting mods for z57 so make 400 I assume dual pass ,option b, Fuel pump,clutch to hold it

E85 is going to be your biggest friend. I made over 400 on a Z54 entry level kit. Dual pass, option B, stealth H/E, fuel pump (OE can support if it's in good health, clutch, and E85.

Very informative video. It answeed a particular question i had about my build. Do i raise compression or lower it. Bought a 2007 SS for 1500. Motor already pulled. Found a cylinder badly scored. Crankshaft had rust all over... Just got it back from machine shop. Saved the crank. Im staying with this build being supercharged and want at least 450whp. This will be a slow meticulous build for a future df goblin. For now it will go back into the Cobalt SS. Gonna have forged rods and pistons. Ported heads probably from zzp since they are ready to go. Big cam. Upgraded fuel system. Most likely gonna run it on e85. And a future m62 to a tvs 1320 swap when i get the goblin kit. And all the cooling mods needed. Just needed to know what pistons to get. Ill probably get the ones with 10.5 compression as originally planned. I think the way i want to build it, ill max out the m62 until i swap out for the tvs 1320. I would love to see a video on this type of build. My purpose for this build? I want off the line power for on track racing with great acceleration after getting around corners. Turbos have too much lag at the lower rpms.. Maybe ill be the one to make this build into a video. Any other advice or people i should talk to with good build information would be helpful and is gratefully appreciated! Who knows, maybe ill jump onto that dual induction im starting to see with the turbo and supercharger setup. That seems to be the ultimate setup. Its gotta be reliable though. But thats way way down the road if ever. Im so excited to do this build! You guys at ZZP are awesome!

Intake coolant temps..... I've been working on "designing" passes in the intake for A/C coolant lines to chill my intake.... An Interchiller some call them.... I've been thinking about this for a while...why haven't you guys

Ok so I just bought my first saturn ion 3 yesterday. First thing I hate is that it's pretty much made of plastic and second thing is it's an 04 so it's untuneable. You guys do have simple bolt on options for intake or exhaust too right? It's the 5 speed manual

All Saturn's are plastic unfortunately. Date a girl with a 95 Saturn coupe pop up headlights 5spd dual cam engine. It would fly. Actually smoked my buddy's 00' civic si lol he was pissed. But plastic and crap interior

Why the hell did you buy a Saturn if you hate its greatest feature? They sell an intake tube and exhaust but if you're buying it to make power your just buying a $1,000 placebo that will be annoying driving down the road. The build quality of the early Ion was pretty horrific. Was a good car by 06.

Where would I find a stock overhaul kit for the LSJ? I am checking out one that is an auto conversion installed in an airplane, but has not been run in about 10 years and so would need an overhaul before trusting it as an airplane engine. Also can the MEFI be updated on this engine? Currently it has a MEFI 4 installed.

The LE5 LSJ crank swap made me interested in a possibility. Does that help mitigate the problems that the LE5 has at high rpm? A high rpm NA LE5 is a build that I'd love to do since I have a cobalt with LE5.

The LSJ internals, and also the B207, are very stout in stock form. Stock long block record is 500+, but as long as it's well cared for they can easily live at 400+ for quite a long time.

Will the lsj head fit on a 2.5l LCV engine? Would like to have port injection on a LCV engine.

No, the newest generation Ecotecs have the heads flipped, exhaust and intake are on the opposite side of the engine. If you wanted larger displacement and port I'd recommend an LE5 2.4 build.

Not looking for a le5 2.4l. How does flipping exhaust and intake effect the head bolt location? I've read some one has bolted a lsj head to a lcv block but wanted to hear from zzp not (just do a le5) thanks anyway...

@@aliciaANDanthonySandoval it affects everything from timing chain placement to sensor locations to water jacket ports/entry exit. It's not like Honda where every block had the same head pattern for 15 years.

Depending on what you're looking for, you may need to go ID1000's in most cases. Especially on e85.

Not sure why Al says they took aluminum out of the Gen 2 block amd weakened it. According to GM it's 2.5 pounds heavier purely due to extra reinforcement. Said to be reinforced from findings in the race program. The water jackets are certainly larger though, maybe that's what he meant?

Material was removed in some areas and added in others, resulting in a block that overall was consistently weaker.

@@tdb19872 The intention was to improve cooling and strength at the same time. The new block was sufficient at stock levels and was likely all that GM cared about. It's when pushed above about 400 that the differences become a large factor. This is of course assuming that you already were lucky enough to not end up with one of the porous blocks that leaked coolant into the oil even without being cracked.

No, that 2.2 is an earlier version of the L61 engine.
