My late husband would sing Voyage to Atlantis every Anniversary. This is the first man I heard sing and play a cover almost identical to Ernie Isley. Great Job. Sir. Pure Grown Folks Music. I love it
The best version I ever heard. It's just a pity people didn't get to see them in their heyday on the music video channels performing some of those songs. Especially, Ernie Isley playing the guitar and mimicking some of Jimi Hendrix's moves who was his idol. When he met Jimi he was 11 years old in the Isley Brothers band and learned from Jimi when he stayed at their moms house.
Hard to believe 14 years have gone by since this duo used to hang in what appeared to be a basement music room. Two great working class dudes playing damn good guitar and drinking some cold ones.
@@davidbunting2595 YASSSSSSS!! Give them a hug from a brand new fan in NYC. Have loved "Voyage..." since I bought the album when it was new. I'm not a musician but that never stopped me from playing air guitar along with the song. Suddenly, today I wondered what that guitar part actually look like? So happy to find this video and that I was patient enough to see it in the middle. Milwaukee's best ice for the WIN!! (And a million thanks!)🤩🤩
Video almost makes me cry...so much talent out there just...? Life is hard to understand, man. His off notes are irrelevant; his gifts are clear. Glad this one came back across my page.
WTF! This guy is the living juke box of funk! He's taught me to play EVERY song I grew up on that I always wanted to play but never thought I could...his guys musical knowledge leaves me speechless!
This is my favorite Isley song. Ernie played the heck out of that guitar. He is truly one of the best!! Update: It’s 2021…10 years after my finding this the first time…and here I am still enjoying this lesson.
man I don't usually comment on videos, I just watch and move on but dammit man..this was as excellent rendition of my favorite song. that riff at 2:30 had me sitting here with a stink face. great job brother
This is my dad’s best friend he says that he’s a underrated musical genius an awesome guy flawless talent I hope I learn these strings in time to play with him
@@PLUMBdogg this video is amazing! Your friend Warren is a beast, the way he replicated Ernie and makes the guitar cry, almost had me in tears. I've never heard anyone perform this song, and I come from a family of musicians, and have worked with musicians most of my life. Where are y'all from? I'm in California. Thank you for sharing this, I'm just a few years late to the party!
@@julesl6910 but while we are here in our own bodies why can't we have our own super power? Can we just our talents why we are alive & living with it everyday?
2:30 if u ever wanted to here the guitar cry this is the best video to see it live iv been watching and showing people this video forever now I love and wish I could jam out as good as him much love
So glad this is still on here. Listened to it about 15 years ago and listened and listened to it. Turned me on to some great music I probably wouldn’t have given much of a look otherwise.
I'm a Plumbdogg fan but this video has inspired me to completely break this song down. It's got some subtle differences between the first chord in the 2nd part of the intro and the verse. It's a master class in arranging and it really shows off how underrated Ernie Isley is.
I aint heard from Warren in a long time. I assume hes doing well or his son woulda called me. Last i heard hes in Harvey IL area. Ijust been doing me on my channel since hes mia. Thx for watching!
Wow! Voyage to Atlantis is my favorite, favorite song, it's so deeply special to me 💖 I've never heard anyone play like this, let alone cover this song. Ernie is an incredible guitarist, emulating the chords like him is immaculate. Thank you Mr. Warren for the beautiful trip to Atlantis. Cheers in 2023 🍻
Man, this is absolutely great! Thank you for posting this. There is a serious dearth and under representation on the internet of tabs/chords/demonstrations/lessons for soul, funk and r&b guitar! As an African-American guitarist, who is inspired by Ernie Isley and Eddie Hazel, I really appreciate your posts of Warren's "breakdown". Please keep them coming!!
Warren you badd man, your lessons on Ernie Isley " Voyage to Atlantis" is on point, I got really hyped when you broke down the lead string parts on that song, and your bridge sound very precise!! very good.
I hope you read this. I just wanna thank you. For moving my soul the way you've done the 1000 times I've watched this video. I appreciate music. I appreciate you.
I believe he's using the old school electro-harmonic "Big Muff" and "Phase Shifter". I'm sure Warren uses other effects such as reverb, sustain and some compressor, but I think you'll get basically the same sound using the first two effects. Ernie has been my influencefor ears, I met him at a concert backstage, had a photo taken with the "Master" and I play most all of his work, three of my favories being, Summer Breeze, Hope you feel Better and Voyage to Atlantis.
When I get a few drinks on I always come here to listen to my man PLUMBdogg. I hope you read this Dogg. You've given me and a lot of my friends some incredibly deep inspiration. Your guitar sounds like heaven. To me there are few heights higher than the Isleys with some Hendrix inspiration. Thank you.
this is an example of the most sincerest form of flattery. he loves the isley sound as much as i do. thank you for reminding me why i love the guitar so much. please share with us some of the other great musicians you love. keep playing warren i love your enthusiasm.
This is my dude right here. I don't even play guitar, but I feel like I can almost pick up a guitar and jam these classics when I get done watching these videos..
Great job-thanks for breaking it down. I saw them live in 1973 :) Ernie was wearing his scarves- paying homage to Jimi -impressed this little girl guitar player.
That was an AWSOME display of raw talent and teaching ability. Guys like you are the reason that skills like these are called an art. Thank you for the upload. Keep teaching!
This is one of the first videos I watched on youtube. Man time flys. Most of my friends were still on Myspace and they laughed at me the I recommended that they get on FB. I only knew a few people that had smart phones. I still had a flip phone BTW. LOL. But I digress.
i revisit this video alot. You can tell Warren loves music and hes connected to his instrument. he didnt miss a note and the way he can switch between songs and all. nice. this vid is a blessing. thanks for the upload
@@PLUMBdogg yes!!! Does Mr. Warren have a page where I can keep up with him if he's still playing, or watch his stuff? I'd love to watch all his stuff!
WOW! This cat is awesome..... if he play this good after a case.. I would love to hear him before the case.. This is what I call Gifted.... Keep up the good work Mr. Warren. I really appreciated your musical/vocal talent. We say Thanks over here on the West coast.
