Glad it was helpful! When I first started sketching, new sketchbook was always daunting, for me after doodling a page, the pressure reduces tremendously! 🙏🙏😊

Thanks for these ideas. I have about 7 or 8 brand new sketchbooks that are completely empty because I didn't know how to break them in - too intimidated, fear of the blank page. I like the idea of doing the palette sketch on the last page as a starting point. Now to get going and put something in them!

Great you found it helpful! Usually my go to is Stillman & Birn Beta, but this one is BaoHong Academy Hot Press.

Perfect! The paper reminds me of my Arteeza paper. Very smooth on one side but it has a tiny groove on the other side. Celiulose for the most part. I've had very old Grumbacher pads with a terrible mechanical grain to it. This is so much better! I do something similar or I will never use a new sketchbook!

Hey thanks for tuning in! Indeed sketchbook is very personal. I think one has to test it over a few sketches before deciding whether to like or not. Everyone now and then just be adventurous and try a new one, the worst thing is having tonnes of unfinished sketchbooks lying around, haha like me! But I’ve lived my life dangerously… 😂😂

@@WheeTeck - really is a problem for a lot of us!!! When you realize that you can make your own sketchbooks faster than you can order or shop for them, the pile of other scrapbooks is even less exciting! :D Folding and tearing sheets of Arches, interleaving with your favorite sketching papers and stitching or using another binding method becomes a new occupation!

Haha… sounds rather familiar… I have a stack of home made sketchbooks, but eventually got tired of making them, as I much rather spend time sketching… 🤣

@@WheeTeck Yeah, it varies. I've done one that is one sheet that when you cut and fold properly, it can be extended over more than one 'page'. I love how it is when finished! My other favorites are very flexible. One has disks - punched with a Staples store's punch that I can pull pages in and out, and the other is ring bound - with a fake leather wrap cover. The rest sit and wait for me. LOL!

I start a new sketchbook on the 2nd page - Works for me 😁 Still looking for "my" fountain pen 🤨not completly happy with the ones i have. Which one do you use?

Hi there! I use Sailor Fude Nib and sometimes Duke Bended Nib. I think fountain pen is very personal, you have to try till you find the one!
