Question about your quota. I know with halibut you have a yearly quota. Do you need to deduct any fish that you take home as food from that quota? Can you fish from a different vessel 'as a customer' and not deduct fish? Are you allowed to take people fishing as in a charter or does that require a special license? Good luck and tight lines

if this is shot in Feb.. i cant see how you are fishing in Alaska, no snow cold ice, sure it salt water but it cold enough to freeze, the shore line show no snow and your not dressed for Alaska winter
@EISAlaska
@EISAlaska 3 года назад
It may seem that way, but the average mean temp. in Kodiak is 38 high 28 low, January thru February with an average of 14 days rain. Also seawater freezes at 28.4 degrees, so it needs to get very cold to even get pancake ice.

@@EISAlaska wow now i am confused.. from what i have seen of videos in Alaska, the weather is worse then here in north western Ont. Canada, were our winters are long and very cold, weeks of 40 below, 7 to 10 feet of snow. ice brakers have got hung up in the Alaska sea ice, i seen hundreds of Alaska winter videos, never seen rain in Feb.. .. just nasty cold and big snow.. people out moose hunting in Alaska like here freeze to death. i know salt water freezes at a little lower temp then fresh water at 32F, but for being Feb,, it just dont look right for Alaska for every thing i have seen on many i follow that live in Alaska, i have been to the Yukon and it is just as nasty, all our commercial fishing boats are lifted out at the end of the fall Haring season and blocked up on land, i have been on an worked these fishing tugs here in the largest of the great lakes, and even with power net pullers and a big barrel wood stove burning old rail road ties it dam cold in side with the net doors open ether the side in door or the back out net doors
@EISAlaska
@EISAlaska 3 года назад
Kodiak Island is located out in the Gulf of Alaska, so our weather is heavily influenced by the ocean. If we have hard Northwesterlies it gets cold, but the arctic blast most people associate with Alaska still has to cross the Shelikof Straight warming it up. Really cold weather for us is 5 to 10 degrees F. and is infrequent. Easterlies bring us warm, moisture laden weather that generally results in rain. We do get snow in the higher elevations, but below 600-700 feet it gets rained off quickly.
