Enjoy your vids dude, especially the stuff over the edge. Some suggestions to help land a big dog: - fish deeper (120m+); increases the chance of keeping them off the reef, and they will also get barotrauma which helps your chances of landing a good one - drive off the reef slowly when you hook a decent fish. May help to move away from the sharks, but more importantly starts to plane the fish up and potentially give barotrauma - move spots when the sharks are thick (this is everywhere I know!) I’ve found the shallow spots (
hey mate. really appreciate the tips and will be giving them all a go. totally agree with trying to find them in deeper water as well its just hard to find the ground out there because it hasn't been surveyed
The sharks are fishing and you three are fishing. Sometimes you win and sometimes the sharks do. You have to be in great physical shape to fish this way. Well done!😊
Love the doggies! What an incredible fish. You show fish on your videos I’ll never likely see but it’s cools to watch you guys get them. Maybe it’s got to be a bucket list thing for me.
Hey Mate, another epic video. Could you please advise what size Certate SW and Saltiga being used, and there respective panderra line size? Thanks in advance.
How hard are Doggies! I’ve experienced the same gut wrenching feeling when I was guiding up top end of Oz. Clients kissing trophy fish goodbye to sharks time & time again. My experience with sharks is when you fish a spot regularly they know and when you arrive and will follow you when you move. They already know your engine and follow that sound/ vibration and therefore the only way to Fark them off is move kms away and not fish that spot for at least 2 mths. When you come back to spot X fish quick because they’ll be there! I’m so jealous cause of the RU-vid factor which wasn’t around in my day, but I have witnessed to a mid air gaff shot that landed a 18 kg Mack which was fleeing a pack of sharks ! That made the trip for 2 boys and their Dad. Awesome stuff guys, thank you. I’m sailing up your way and be gr8 to say Gday and chew the fat! Strength to strength hey fellas! All the best! Jos xo
The man in the grey suit always makes a appearance. Lol They've learned fishermen mean a free meal. They're getting even more aggressive since divers feed them.
Man thats alot of serious work. I don't see how you deal with the sharks. Ive seen in Hawaii some fisherman carry high powered Rifals. because of the money you can make on a large yellowfin tuna and it can pay for your boat. they shoot the sharks. Your teachings are spot on, you should put a book or a video because your teachings are easy to understand.
Seeing that special needs fellow with the mask hook that huge fish warmed the cockles of my heart! Shame he lost it, but he will have a helluva story to tell back at the home.
You ever tried hanging a shark shield over on hook ups? I know there's a risk of line tangling but would seem like sharked trouts more likely. I saw a Hawaiian kayaker who does it and dropped his sharked rate a heap.
GREAT vid I am just wondering if all you guys are naturally left handed . If so I understand but if not wouldn't you use your natural dominat right arm to do the heavy work and let the left turn the reel handle or am I missing something. Cheers.
Great stuff Matty, Those sharks are a pain but it's all part of the experience. Who needs a gym pumping weights when you got sharks GTs Chinaman and Doggies giving you a good workout lol.
I used to do that for a living for 20 years. Do you use the weak rods and reels to make the videos better? Cuz you dang sure ain't set up for getting them out of the rocks or keeping them away from the sharks.
I enjoy watching your videos Matt it’s always awesome to see your smashing your goals. An the boys you have on board are lucky to be able to get out there with you. Keep up the amazing work and you may need a massage after this
The day I encountered Giant 80+lbs Dogtooth, that's the day I laughed and clap out of respect for these Crazy Fish ! Nothing could stop them no matter the setup . The one I got up got eaten right at the boat by a 2.5m Tiger Shark . 1 bite and just the head came back , happened due to my power knob getting lose !! What Nomad heavy blank is that Jigging rod eh ? Cheers ❤
Hi All fishing trips are wonderful, but this trip is very challenging with time and the fitness to be a fisherman before being hunted by sharks. This work is very wonderful.
