I got a new saw recently and thought I would share the break in process with you guys! #whackinaxes #axe #firewood #stihl #stihlchainsaw #newchainsaw #stihlms250 #firewoodstand #cherrytree
Great job. I suggest you engage the chain brake when ever you set the saw down or are walking with the saw while it is running and you are repositioning yourself on the other side of the log.
Congrats. I have one just like it. 12+ years. Not the fastest but it’s perfect for what I use it for. Not heavy either. Nice little hall of wood too. FYI. Beware of those cherry trees most of them have rot or are hollow. That one looks great though. I ll be looking for the next one. 👍
Very impressive for your age! The MS250 was the first STIHL Saw I ever bought. Great little saw for firewood cutting and hunting property cleanup and projects!
Great video and nicely controlled work! Nice to see chaps too, seems unbelievably rare your side of the Atlantic! One thing though, I highly recommend gloves. It's not about stopping the chain, or about gripping material, it's about the vibrations. The 250's vibrations are B.A.D - 6.8m/s2 - almost double what they are in the more powerful 261. Over time vibrations from power tools kill nerves and that's permanent damage to your hands and fingers. Gloves make a hell of a lot of difference. Nice work though. Some beautiful cutting there.
I didn’t know that! I’ll definitely try to wear gloves more! I have just never really liked gloves because I feel like I can’t control stuff as good with them on. Thanks for watching!
@@WhackinAxes Yeah and you make a great point and it's why I'd never wear proper chainsaw protection gloves. Very little feel and control through them. But thin, lightweight gloves are definitely worth considering. As it happens I wear predator fishing gloves, but something like Stihl ergo gloves, or the Husky classic light gloves look good too! The condition's called Vibration white finger (VWF), also known as hand-arm vibration syndrome (HAVS) or dead finger. Worth looking into now, so that when you're 50 you can feel how hot a coffee mug in your hand is!
Great job whackin axes! Love the new saw 👍🏻 having no problem eating up that cherry I see even with the break in😃 nice job with the take down guys 👍🏻 good plan of attack keeping the walnuts safe and hickory’s... love seeing well thought out plans. Closing in on 200 subs too! 💪🏻 keep them videos coming, so proud of you buddy.
Do u mind I ask how old u are you remind me of myself I was 13 when I got my first saw was a Poulan 3316 33cc 16in bar and I cut a lot of wood with that saw I was cutting firewood for my mom those were the days now I’m Cutting wood for sale good too see the younger guys picking up a saw and getting out love it have a good one
In case of kickback you always want to lock your thumb around the handle with your left hand, when sever kickback happens there’s a good chance you’ll eat your saw . Seen it happen a few times over the years at work and it’s not pretty no matter how light you get hit, the lucky ones only had damage done to chaps and helmets, while the not so lucky folks had sever cuts to the face / neck lacerations and a few who instinctively blocked with a hand or arm lost digits . Easy fix to keep that from happening to ya.
Nice video from start to finish. I love my 250 and will never sell it. Love my 026 as well. Hope you're allowed to use the bigger one once in a while. Cheers.
I think there’s something wrong with my MS250. It smokes a lot out the front when i cut wood. Also it takes forever to get through a log. I just put a new chain on it and i can barely cut through wood.
I have noticed that my saw smokes quite a bit when I first start cutting with it but it goes away. I don’t know about taking forever to get through a log.. the chain might not be getting enough oil, or the way you are cutting could affect that too.
Use gloves , for safety, easier to work with and cuts down on the vibrations.! And long sleeve shirts are must every time ...! You do this everyday for a living 9 to 5 and you’ll understand why. !
@@WhackinAxes I agree! The chainsaw is very sophisticated, in production for over 25 years. It is fraught with: good power, maneuverability, not heavy weight, excellent quality of parts. The tank caps are cool, the lateral chain tension, the carburetor heating, the toothed stop is installed on the chainsaw from the factory (in Russia, the temperature is up to -35 in winter in the Moscow region, and in my reality the carburetor heating system is very good). By the way, initially when they started producing it, its model was called "Stihl 025"
@@WhackinAxes A beautiful beginning of the video✨😁, and what kind of crickets you have in sound are different🤣 Well, maybe there is some truth in this, because we are separated by the ocean and many kilometers.
Nice work!! I am thinking of getting either the MS 250 or 251 Wood boss, but don't know if i like one bar nut on the Wood Boss. What is the largest diameters you cut with your 250? Thanks!!
@@WhackinAxes oo thanks for the reply,i was thinking about buying one for me with 20" guide bar,it seems can handle a little havier job, sorry my english is bad,,
For a loose stack though which is about 32inches by 23 inches and I charge twenty bucks for one of those. Each bundle I charge 6 bucks for and they each have around 13 good sized pieces in them.
I suggest that when you are running it, cut with it for a little bit then let it cool all the way down before starting cutting again. Do that until you get ab 3-4 tanks of gas through it and you should be good to let it eat after that!
