Per Shams Charania: The Los Angeles Lakers, LA Clippers and Dallas Mavericks are expected to be among strong suitors for Thompson, according to league sources. Multiple teams with salary cap space are expected to show interest in Thompson as well. Through the Tim Hardaway Jr. salary dump, the Mavericks have already generated enough room to offer the full projected $12.9 million midlevel on the market. The Lakers have the ability to generate the same, depending on where LeBron James’ next deal lands and other business.

I know it doesn’t work this way, but Warriors also paid Klay two years without him playing. I love Klay, but he’s lost a lot, can’t defend anymore and is mad streaky shooting…. Sure he can light it up still, but consistency is an issue. Sad sad day for Golden State. #11 brought many great memories.

As a fan of the warriors this kinda stings a bit but I’m happy that Klay is doing what he feels is best for his career because he’s deserving of an opportunity to play where he feels respected. now him leaving gives us lots of flexibility but what we decide to do with that flexibility is anyone’s guest but we do need to get the rolling come tomorrow. I’ll like to say Thank you to Klay for all the memories he gave us in a warriors uniform for 13 seasons and wish him the best of luck.

Not even a playin team. We need another go to guy and that 7footer for defense. We’d be better off with Wiggins at the 2 Steph, Dray, TJD and the Rook. Hopefully Klay comes back if we can’t get anyone else and if not we need to go after Kuzma, Ingram, Deroazan, Clarkson, KCP in a combination of 2 of them. We need a real bonafide guy, not a hope they take the next step guy!

I love the NBA, but things are getting ridiculous, Klay was paid over $68.1M for two seasons in which he didn't even suit up, and he feels "no love"??????? I think Klay fooled us all with his false modesty, he's as selfish as all the other prima donas out there, and should not be mentioned in the same sentence with Steph any longer. $20/yr is a disrespect?? He should try creating the cure for Cancer, developing some technology to clear the air, find a substitute for petroleum. Otherwise, so long, don't let the door hit you in the A. And, they should cancel the Statue, number should go up, but statue? No way.

Correction on this story the injuries weren't piling up on Klay Thompson he just came off two major leg reconstructive surgeries, he doesn't have the same lateral movement as he did once before. His play is declining because of those major injuries so his market value is not where it should be. But I guarantee you the Dallas Mavericks will be able to offer him something It will make them championship Worthy

I am not so sad about this news, the major issue resigning is not just about the money or years but his reluctance to accept a diminishing role on this warrior team thereby hampering the development of Moody. Klay got more minutes than Moody in an elimination game and score 0 points in a game Moody should have got more minutes.

Too bad. My favorite Warrior. A stutue will be erected for him one day. I can't help but remember though that when he was injured in back to back seasons the Warriors paid his salary and got no production from him. Then when the team needs a team friendly deal he wants no part of it. He's all about the $$$$. Sorry to see him go but he was unreasonable and left the Dubs no choice. All the best.

Klay is everything Chase mentioned. Correct me if I am wrong but if memory serves Klay got a brand new contract while he was recovering from his injury during the Toronto series, so he was paid for nearly three seasons without playing one game. Not to mention, sadly, he has never been the same player since.

Klay is still a good player, but not in the role that he wanted for GSW. He didn’t wanna be a 6th man for the warriors, though that’s the role he thrived in last year. He can go somewhere else and be a starter for a team that it makes sense for. Doesn’t make sense for GSW anymore.

its true, they might not get another ring without klay. But keeping klay on the roster meant they couldnt use either midlevel exception and they could add a few vet minimums (while still paying a ton of luxury tax). It just isnt worth it for a 10th seed team the next 3 yrs.

Wanted him to stay but he has struggled with emotional ups and downs on the court this past two seasons, so if leaving gives him a better quality of life including his basketball life the he needs to do more that. I hope he is loved wherever he goes. Yes he has done great things but he also had two years of injury rehab that all was paid for so he had nothing but his health to worry about.

Dubs gave Klay Max when he had worst injury and when hewwas at his low... Now team is at its low but Klay wants more money ... And team not giving it.. then he will be leaving them.. unbelievable... Klay you are good as gone.. dubs will figure it out without you.

What a mess this offseasin is. If we dont land PG13 and loose Klay.. due to how disrespectful Mike and Joe treated him, we did this all so fsr for lindy 😂 and have out no-one around steph and instead chopped one of his main core players and friend away. Good job management 👏

No one cares. He cant finish a lay up, his numbers are empty. Last 2 years he has bombed in the Lakers series and the play in game. If he played 80% of his standards Warriors could have won another title.

Whatever he got his time is already done this is basketball once you are old you are gone and that will always remain as part of your auccess.klay is not playing the way he was before that's the truth and I don't think any team from nba will keep the player if they got nothing that's the reality on sports.

Maybe the energy will be better on the bench. Whenever he was taken out for mediocre play his face was broke down like a convict seeing his wife leave.
