The draft of the vessel is deeper than the depth of water outside the building hall. You’ll also notice they’re are floats at the front, they’re reducing the vessel’s draft to get her out of the building hall.

Oh the first one was 150 million. So 15-18M per year. 75-90 for 5 years. That's 225-240M. Add to that 450-480M. Yeah...Its all going to running these two stupid things.

That is the whole reason of a yacht at this level: Lose money ,or at least claim it does, for tax deduction purposes. And a couple time a year, you get to enjoy the money pit. Depending of where you register the thing, it is the perfect washing machine.

As a general principle it takes 10% of purchase cost, per year, to own a big boy toy (jet, yacht, etc.) putting his annual maintenance around $30MM before he puts fuel in the tanks. I wonder how much it costs to "filler up"?

The 10% includes fuel too. (as well as crew and provisions) Obviously if you live aboard full time or travel a lot more you will exceed those estimates. Its just a "rule of thumb."

Yeah it's terrible to earn a minimum of 2.5k USD net of taxes each month with all living costs covered! And that is for the lowest entry level position.... now imagine "slaving" your way up to become a captain making up to 30k USD a month again net of taxes and living expenses as free food, sleeping quarters, crew clothing, toiletries, etc, are provided....

So Zuck buys a little row boat. Any info on whether he had rented some in the past for holidays and now wants to own one, so is this a totally new venture into a way of life he wants to start? Different question: can such a yacht generate positive cash flow if rented? aka, can this be an investment like a hotel, or is it an expensive toy and you can reduce cost of ownership by renting it? If you offer the boat for rental, does this mea the onwer needs to book it in advance to ensure nobody else rents it for that period? (so no unplanned trips on a whim).

The vast majority, 90 - 95% of super yachts that charter, do not earn a profit, what they earn is money to offset (some of the) expenses. So only 5-10% manage to actually turn a profit but that means the owner will have less time to enjoy his yacht especially during peak charter season.

Definitely cannot be profitable to rent it out, absolutely not possible. But you can break even on your fixed costs by renting. It's not meant to be an investment, it's meant to be a pleasure purchase

Well the boat didn't have a name, so 'Launchpad' is the first name. The previous designation was NB1010, a build number.

While the person may not be sanctioned, there are still trade and banking restrictions. (though I suspect such a person would be able to use western currency to pay for the row boat). The Dutch rules must be stricter.
