Could the media please stop the desperate gaslighting? we saw what we saw and it was pathetic. no she didn't "shine". she wasn't "courageous". she wasn't "creative". she embarrassed herself and her country but worst of all she took the place of some other much more talented, determined, serious athlete.
@@mizzury54 I really don’t find the “B Girl/B Boy” style very impressive or entertaining, but most of the other styles are awesome, and take serious training and athletic ability. It sucks that a lot of people who don’t know any better, are seeing this lady’s ridiculous attempt as a representation of break dancing. She may have ruined the breakdancing Olympic debut and its place in the next one.
I think that the point is that she shouldn't have been there, let alone representing her country. Her embarrassing nonsense has overshadowed the achievements of the real Aussie athletes in other sports.
There are no young people watching her & saying, “Wow-that could be me someday!” BUT I GUARANTEE there are some OLD PEOPLE WATCHING & SAYING, “That could be me someday-DOING MY ELAINE DANCE FROM SEINFELD!”
She holds a PhD is breaking dancing 😳 wow this is embarrassing and an insult to HipHop. I don’t care what she holds and say she can’t break dance. Break dancing tells a story just like any other form of dancing, it’s known for representing your crew, your block and it was used in place of fighting to diss the competitor and gain street credibility. She was making excuses as to why she was soooo bad. She ruined a spot for someone who would’ve taken it seriously and respect to represent their country just like back in the 1980’s when they break danced to represent their neighborhood.
@thecaribbeanbelle6733 - No one could have said it better. Your statement is spot on. Coming from NYC, I can honestly say I've seen far better performances on NYC subway platforms and in the train itself. Do not mock this art form of dancing! If you cannot dance this style, it's okay not to participate. I wonder who the hell she beat to participate on the global level.
@@MsTempestj Brooklyn NY in house!! And I’m a 80’s kid so I remember Break dancing was everywhere. From Michael Jackson music videos to movies like “Beat Street” and yes the subways and the streets. It was also about style, what you were wearing etc.
@@MsTempestj people who do the do the style justice are amazing, it’s like a cross of gymnastics, and core strength training. You definitely have to be in Shape and have skill to do it properly.
It wasn’t breakdancing that she did it was nonsense and the real breakdancers truly worked hard for the spot. It was like a slap in the face to breakdancers
Stop giving participation trophies. There was a time when we praised real talent and excellency. Now is more important people's feelings and call brave and inspiring mediocrity.
Because she is LIVING HER TRUTH, and she is STUNNING and BRAVE, on her JOURNEY to REIMAGINE WHAT HAS BEEN UNBURDENED, BY WHAT HAS BEEN. Spoken with the eloquence of a Kamal Toe H.
I thought break dancing died in the late 80s after "Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo" showed everyone how goofy this form of "dancing" was. Why is someone trying to bring it back??
There's a lot more athleticism and coordination involved in actual breakdancing than in some Olympic "sports" like curling, archery, shooting, etc. Raygun trolled the Olympics big time and even got it removed.
A PhD in breakdancing? That's not a thing. Look, be creative all you want but don't call it breakdancing, call it interpretive dance or some other new fangled thing. If I make a spinach salad and get creative with oranges, chicken, peanut butter and lego blocks....it's not a spinach salad anymore....it's something....but not a spinach salad. Australia should be ashamed for passing her through to represent them like this. SMH
Oh, it was original. She has a PHD in break dancing. Her parents must be so proud. Their is no way they will do this again. I thought she was having a seizure at one point. Ill say one thing, she will not be forgotten. "Ray Gun" can never live that down. I'm sure she had fun but at what cost? Embarrassing herself? Embarrassing her country? Embarrassing the Olympics? Embarrassing humans in general? 😂😅
@@mysidianrabite7826 that would be believable. Except, none of the other clips from the Olympics get stripped from the internet except for the controversial ones.

People should stop referring to break dancers as B Boys and B girls. That is as wrong as the fool Raygun doing her "break dancing" routine. In the '70s and '80s B boys and Fly Girls were us young teenagers who loved and was immersed in the hip hop culture ie rap music, magazine articles, fashion, swag, and dance etc . Break dancers were a wonderful part of hip hop culture however they were called Break Dancers NOT B-boys. A break dancer could be a B Boy but a B boy if he couldn't break dance was not called a break dancer. Famous Run Dmc lyric: "STANDING on the corner in B Boy STANCE, rock on the mic make the girls wanna dance." Break dancing promoters and writer should get it right.
Unique perspective? passion and creativity? I don't think many people cared that she wore a track suit. This woman has a PHD in dance? I didn't see alot of athleticism demonstrated by poor Raygun, nor originality. I feel bad for this woman if this is legitimate. Big IF
Well, I finally got to see it. I think it’s more of an artsy thing but it’s not actual real breakdancing. She’s trying to push some art kangaroo stuff in there. It will never go anywhere.
They have scrubbed the internet of this video of the break dancing there were 3 heats i watched on the old box wish we still had vcrs to tape this shit
This is what is most striking after the participation of this PHD, is that coincidentally, it was the first time they opened the doors to break dance and it is not clear why it will not be there anymore.
"Passion" and "creativity" are not the things that get you medals or at least no the things that make you deserve a medal. She had no skills nor talent and she performed terribly, she deserves the points she got i.e 0
Did she not look at other women break dance videos to fully understand what she's up against and be honest with herself that her age, talent, skills, and physical strength are highly questionable?
A PhD in break dancing? What?????! To see breaking as a sport is crazy. Never thought I would ever see something birthed in my younger years become a global sport😳
Footage is being either deleted or not shown, on many channels. This already is an admission of "something don't seem right". Raygun = shooting blanks.
Yeeees but she "reassured us" by saying she's PHd lol. Well If physicist where as competents after there thesis, I would not support them making neither a nuclear plant, nor a bicycle
Honestly not dissing any of the skill anyones shown as these (Gun excluded) are very talented people breakdancing and any dancing just really isn’t a sport and shouldn’t be in the Olympics
